Goals from Thomas Partey, Gabriel Jesus and Granit Xhaka ensured derby day delight for us as we beat our arch-rivals to maintain top spot in the Premier League table.
Partey’s wonderful strike from distance set us on our way, and despite a Harry Kane penalty ensuring the sides went in level at the break, a poacher’s effort from Jesus restored our lead four minutes into the second half.
Emerson Royal was then red carded for the visitors and soon after Xhaka drove in a third to secure a third straight home victor in this fixture for the first time since 2013.
Emirates Stadium was bouncing ahead of kick-off as our Gooners created a cauldron of noise, and their efforts in the stands were matched on the field as we bossed the opening half an hour.
The game was just two minutes old when Gabriel Martinelli saw a volley smack off Hugo Lloris’ post, and then Granit Xhaka saw an imaginative flick towards goal spin narrowly wide after a wonderful cross from Bukayo Saka.
And on 20 minutes, we grabbed the lead with an absolute blockbuster. Saka was again involved, receiving possession on the right and found Ben White. He laid the ball off to Partey who curled it towards goal first-time from 25 yards, and saw it flash past Lloris and into the top corner to send the already-high decibel levels stratospheric.
But for all our early dominance, Spurs found a way back level just 10 minutes later when we failed to clear our lines from a counter-attack and Gabriel fouled Richarlison in the area. Anthony Taylor pointed to the spot, allowing Kane to convert from 12 yards for the seventh time in north London derbies.
Having levelled things up, Spurs’ tails were up and led to a shaky period for us with Kane heading straight at Ramsdale after another swift break, but we still nearly went into the break back in front when a mazy dribble in the box by Gabriel Jesus saw him beat two defenders but shoot straight at Lloris from close-range.
However, just four minutes after the restart, the Brazilian did get his goal to flip the game back in our favour. Saka did well to jink inside from the right and get a shot away, which Lloris did well to parry. Cristian Romero dallied with the rebound, and inadvertently sent the ball squirming under his goalkeeper, allowing Jesus to pounce and slam it home.
Our no. 9 looked destined to grab a second soon after but misplaced his header from an Oleksandr Zinchenko and sent a golden chance wide, but on 62 minutes we received another huge boost to our chances of victory when Royal was dismissed for a foul tackle from behind on Martinelli.
Sensing an opportunity to seal the win, we quickly pressed for a third goal and after Saka bent a shot wide after coming inside, it arrived. Martinelli scampered down the left flank and got to the edge of the box, before laying it off to Xhaka who drilled a low shot under Lloris and grab his second of the campaign and send the stadium into delirium.
That killed the game off as a contest and we easily saw out the final minutes amongst a crescendo of noise as we matched last season's fine result, ended our opponents' unbeaten start, remained on top spot and sent all Gooners home happy.

I'll tell you who's more irreplaceable and it's Martilleni. I pray he doesn't have injury... He's had assist almost every game. He's an absolute threat in that front because he holds ball enough for Arsenal to do something reasonable with it. He's also got a strong football fighting spirit.

I still remember some fans calling for Xhaka’s head during the summer saying we need an upgrade, I always told them, Arteta plays him cos he knows how good he is, he must be doing a lot of things right.. and here we are enjoying the good times.. Arteta is genius

The moment I saw Gabriel Jesus tracking back to cover for Zinchenko and winning the ball from Richalison, I fell in love more with Arsenal ♥️♥️♥️

it's no fluke, it's no coincidence, it's a well constructed win, well planned, well coached, proper win. the way they've been playing this season is amazing. anyone who watch and understand football would notice that there's a clear scheme for every situation. arteta takes care of every tiny detail. sure there'll be mismatches and miscalculations (just like the man united match) cause they're all just human who made mistakes but we all know this team is in good hands and they'll bounce straight back from adversity. i really hope they win a trophy, and when it happens we (arsenal fans who have been through countless bad moments this past decade) could feel truly proud.

Nah, he’s always been immense but in a crap team it’s hard for his brilliance to be recognised. His positional play broke down opponents attacks constantly but because he wasn’t touching the ball he never got the credit. Now we dominate the ball it’s very obvious how good he is.

Oh Partey! You are genius. He scored similar goals against Zimbabwe in a world cup group match. Did same against Nigeria in the world cup playoff and has done it here against Tottenham. What a player? May the skies be your limit.
as a spurs fan, arsenal fully deserved the win. the way they played reminded me of prime barcelona tiki taka. arteta deserves huge credit. realistically, we were never going to win at the emirates but still, it hurts to lose a derby. all i can say is thanks for getting emerson sent off :D i can't bear watching him next week

Fully agree, it felt we were stuck. They did good job with that. City just crushed united and we gonna fight for champions league place again. Arsenal too for sure.

Spurs stand very good against city when playing, this game I had feeling it was much tougher than it should be. They did crazy pressure between our midfield and defense, and in our attack we lost time. Conte is to blame this time. I forgive him ofcourse. Arsenal knew before game they had to risk and hope. They were excellent at it, must admit.

@@martinavrdoljak6030 i know arsenal fans will say it’s just an excuse, but i do feel like we missed kulusevski. deki would probably play more accurate passes and create more chances for us with the limited opportunities we had. with deki, emerson might also be protected a bit.

He doesn't have that much assists but he's creating so many chances every game. Also love how he's everywhere on the pitch, defending, pressuring the opponents' gk and defenders and also driving the ball forward in many instances. He's definitely a baller.

Finally Arsenal players have shown their class, they played like a unit, the midfielders won those brilliant goals. They took their revenge so sweetly.
I know we've drubbed them 4-2, 5-2 in the past, but even then I don't remember seeing a Spurs team this frightened to play us. Our 3--1 result doesn't show how they were wasting time from minute 1, especially after their equalizer, or the way we disrespected them in the second half and sent their fans home early. My god it was an emphatic win

I've never seen that a player and the supporters HATE each other sooo much, but end up loving each other even more.. im talkin bout Xhaka and the great arsenal supporters.. he turned around and decided to do more to give more and now clearly he earns more.. more respect more glory and much more love and apreciation from the team❤️
Wherever we play this season, the atmosphere is always phenomenal. That surely gives the boys some extra energy to get the results.

Xhaka, Jesus, Martinelli, Saliba will receive praise from the fans and rightly so, but not enough had been talked about Ben White. He’s been immense at RB so far. Went up against the likes of Son, Zaha and Toney kept them all quiet. Technically a superb player.

BRENTFORD fan here , we had some of this medicine and now SPURS ( who are a great side , without doubt ! ) have had their share too ! This ARSENAL side , are a EXTREMELY ,TALENTED , potential CHAMPIONS , a ,army on the MARCH ! The teams who have games comming up against them , must be in a state of shock ! with this ARSENAL TEAM ! Undeserved win tottenham shoudlve won arsenal are trash and Tottenham better. Tottenham deserved the win. Arsenal would've been regulated it they weren't so lucky and if they didn't pay the refs.
