As a Swiss I’m very biased, but I really don’t see how the 5 minute was called. On initial play it looks wrong but reviewing it, Fiala clearly attempts an upper body hit and the Canadian player goes to evade which causes the clipping. Further more, giving a penalty shot opposed to a minutes penalised Switzerland contrary to equalising the rest of the PK. (Should never be called a penalty shot also a weak call) please argue me, i will like to hear other point of views

Unless they undoubtedly believe they can win it all with the same team under Berube, I believe it would be wise to trade them now. I would actually trade Matthews for a huge haul just like the Bruins did with Joe Thornton and Seguin. Matthews hasn't showed up in the playoffs. Nylander is a steal. At the end of the day, I don't think the Leafs will win the cup anytime soon.

Swi played a strong game and could have won; a stupid major penalty to take. Cda defence remains weak like a Swiss cheese; soft and full of holes. Bedard is off his game; is he injured? Bennington showed finally he has ability; the penalty shot may be the save of the tourney. Cannot fault a goalie for not stopping dense screen shots; fault the defence. Overall, Cda is lucky to win. This year, Cda has not the players to out skate and out play opponents. Must rely upon discipline, endurance, strategy. Can?

I like Bedard, but I gotta admit he's been really sub par the past 3 games... He lost defensive zone coverage in the first period which should have resulted in a Swiss goal... but luckily didn't... Then he single-handedly gives up a breakaway when he has the puck and Canada has the man advantage... Even Tavares wasn't Tavares-like at times... Don't get me wrong, JT's been one of Canada's best players, and he had many fine moments vs Swiss, was great on most faceoffs, looked dangerous offensively...was strong on the puck, deep in the Swiss zone... BUT BUT BUT... He was on the ice when Canada took 2 penalties... Looked kinda unfocused on one key offensive zone faceoff, when Canada was on the pp, leading to a quick breakout by Roman Josi and company, and a Canadian penalty... Good as Tavares was, he had something of a schizophrenic game... Binnington has been pretty good overall last couple of games... But he didn't look good on the 2nd Swiss goal... Sure there were bodies in front, but he seemed to just give up trying to track the puck... I don't know? Crouch a bit lower and try to look between bodies? Or move a bit further out, fight for viewing space, and try to make yourself big... Get your head on a swivel? Do something ? Anything 'Binner'? Besides standing there like a zombie, not even moving your head, with no friggen clue where the puck is?

Most international tournaments aren't held in Canada/USA. The NHL has been a constant for a very long time, it's built its viewership over many decades. Most teams have had a long time to build up a fan base in their local area. International tournaments feature fewer teams and often only a handful are truly competitive. They are also a lot shorter than the NHL season. Each NHL team plays 42 home games per year in the regular season and currently the NHL playoffs are happening. The NHL is the peak of ice hockey. The best players from all over the world strive to make the NHL and hoist the Stanley Cup. The NHL is also where the money is, no one is getting paid 10+ million dollars to play in an IIHF tournament

Plenty of reasons. International is across the ocean from Canada. NHL is business that tries to have as many games as possible. The risk of injuring a key player is a filter. As a Canadian I wouldn't be surprised Sweden has the most NHL experience of any team in the tournament and Canada's young defence hasn't looked great.

@@michabiak7710 This is like Canada's C-team. 95% of our best players are not in this tournament. If you want to see Best on Best you will have to wait for next year for the NHL 4 Nations Face-Off or the Olympics in 2026 where the NHL will finally allow the pros to play again since 2014 Olympics and the World Cup 2016.
