thats what happens when we dont win, I remember beeting pooland and we end up drawing it must be only me that remembers this, anyway I was watching the game with my mother, saying about 100 times dont celebrate like its over untill its over after we went up 2 1, then england score, mebe a bit carried away I would say sometimes thats about it really, but yeah it was a good game, it wasnt a free kick to england ither at the end its not just armstrong,

It's the difference between a medium national team and a top one . A better player would have looked both sides , pass then 3 players against the goal keeper and it would been 3-1 if i am right

I was an England fan in the Away end this day. I’ll never forget the place when Scotland took the lead. I just watched it all, took it all in and said to my mate ‘wow’. That’s what football is all about. Thank god we equalised though. Brilliant day and night. Opposing fans applauded each other afterwards. Even the police applauded the England fans just before letting us out. One of the best, most emotionally charged games I’ve been to.

Couldn’t agree more mate. I was at this game although on the other side. I don’t think I have been so emotionally drained after a game of football in my entire life. Clapping each other at the end was class and showed the respect that this fixture deserves. Don’t get me wrong I love nothing more than a fierce rivalry but I can’t stand it when hooliganism takes over

Was there in the home end that day and also the away end at Euro 96 at the old Wembley. The noise when Gazza scored the second still haunts me 😆 Rival fans hugging and shaking hands after the match back then too. We love playing yous

Absolute limbs. I'm English but I come back to this video occasionally because the home fans reaction to the goal tells you exactly what football means to us all. Absolutely brilliant.

I'm English and I love matches against 'The Auld Enemy' because of the general atmosphere and tradition of it all... I see a lot of discord between people on here, but I can honestly say hand on heart that I'd love to see Scotland make it to another big tournament again! I actually get a tad jealous when I see/hear Scotland's fans singing because I wish that is how ours would/could be, but our fans only seem to sing when winning... I think the Scots and the Irish have the best fans in the world and would make any tournament 10 times better! Peace

Greg Meredith it was brilliant to watch. the celebrations for the free kicks were wild its good to see passion like that. wales in the euros showed that all the home nations should be there it makes the tournaments ten times better Scotland would be a great inclusion for the tournament.

Even though I’m mad about the Armstrong ball, I will never ever forget the moment I had with my dad at 4am in Australia when the 2nd free kick went in. That feeling and moment is just unforgettable. Will cherish it for the rest of my life.

Regardless of the game or the teams, I love to watch crowd reaction to goals. But I've never seen a reaction like this. Usually there are pockets of fans who either lose it completely or who jump up and down ,clapping. EVERY Scot lost it completely. It is by far the greatest reaction to a goal I've seen, surpassing even the Aguero goal, Martin Tyler 's commentary was the icing-on-the-cake. I was almost disappointed when we equalized.......almost. Huge respect to our Scottish cousins.

Football has been my life since 1978. The emotion that day - never felt anything like it. What a celebration.

Regardless of the result Scotland fans did Us all proud. What an atmosphere. Whether you're a Scotland/England fan or whoever you support, any national football team should be jealous of our support. Well done to England for managing a draw in such a hostile environment it's a tough place to come for a result

Watching this on my telly at home, this may the only time I have shouted at the absolute top of my lungs, I was just overcome. The draw wasn't bad, just the manner of the 2nd made it seem like a loss, but the real pain came a few months later when we drew against Slovenia - that was the sorest I have felt as a Scotland fan possibly ever.

Great commentary. Why can't we get this in the premier league? Usually so dull on goals.

It was an excellent game. Leigh Griffiths could have been so much more. I think Scotland deserved the win if I'm honest as an Englishman who values fair play. We got out of jail on this occasion. 150 years. Both nations should be incredibly proud of what we gave to the world. May the best team win tonight on this special anniversary.

Hazzajamwich have you seen him play? Not sure what's wrong with him, has a fabulous strike on him (as seen here) and good technique. Sure, he's not best at link-up play and he's not really a threat in the air, but other than that he's all you need from a striker

I was at this match. side on to that second goal. The ball left his foot like a nuclear rocket. Never have I heard a roar like it. The Hampden roar. Absolute joy. We were losing minutes earlier, the draw was sore, but what a day. Had a drink with several England fans after. Great stuff. A superb day.

There is just something so awesome about fans tumbling down the stairs when their team scores.

we did, it was called the home nations cup, england threw a dummy and refused to play, citing the opposition was not on thier level, most people agree it saves them the embarrasment of getting beat.

You have to admit though, after England left, England went on to make semi finals of tournaments and scotland stopped qualifying. The English were right in what they were doing. The level wasnt what it used to be in the 70s and 80s.

This makes my stomach turn. If we had have held on a few more minutes. Was at the game, never seen a crowd like it. Brilliant.

amazing two great goals from griffiths!! what a goals!! what a fantastic striker!!! it was a pity that scotland finallly didn't won the game....

If Griffiths was not who he is, Scotland really would have had a great striker on their hands. Sadly the man's life did not match up to the talent he possessed.

To be fair England should have been three or four up by half time ! The best two free kicks in an international game I have ever seen. Strange to see all of my Celtic heroes - Brown, Teirney, Armstrong, Gordon, Mulgrew and Griffiths all gone to other clubs now.
