With just five weeks remaining before the FedExCup Playoffs, the PGA TOUR heads to the Quad Cities for the John Deer Classic. Jordan Spieth returns to the John Deere Classic for the first time since 2015. Spieth is a two-time winner at TPC Deere Run including in his last appearance nine years ago when he shot a third-round 61. Spieth’s 2013 victory at the John Deere Classic was his first TOUR title. Reigning champion Sepp Straka aims to become the first repeat winner since Steve Stricker won three in a row from 2009-2011. The Austrian is currently 17th in the FedExCup standings and has four top-10 finishes so far this year. Jason Day is another contender with four top-10 finishes in 2024 and returns to TPC Deere Run for the first time since 2011. Day has never missed the cut at the John Deere Classic in five appearances, with his best finish (T15) coming in back-to-back years, 2009-10. Other names to look out for this week include Sungjae Im, J.T. Poston, Jake Knapp, Aaron Rai and Joel Dahmen.

Why are the young players able to come out and make an immediate impact? On top of total dedication, a hidden ingredient is sports psychologists nowadays. They are huge in golf and tennis.

Honestly my opinion it’s cause there stamina, testosterone, being able to practice and play all day for 4 days and the recovery is nowhere near as bad as the older guys able to wake up and go. They don’t feel it as bad in the mornings after

Its always been like this. They play junior golf leagues before they are even 10. Then they play the world amateur for a couple years. Then its d1 college golf. They play against the highest level players from around the world from a young age. Many famous foreign golfers play at US college golf before they turn pro

Talent coming up has me smiling from Ear to ear. Too many names to list but congrats Davis Thompson my dude. Golfers are the coolest. Been around many professional athletes and golfers were always my favorite because they are 9/10 the most down to earth people.

Great golf from so many new names, Davis Thompson looks the goods. However, the PGA really have to look at that venue. So many players 20 under. Either set the course up harder or try a new venue.

Why are people so negative, that’s the beauty of golf. The courses are different every week, sometimes you’re challenged to make par (U.S. Open 24) and sometimes you’re challenged to throw darts and make birdies. It’s awesome to see guys consistently score on course, locked in all four days.

I see John Deer has millions to sponsor a golf tournament, but yet is laying off 600 workers and sending operations to Mexico. I hope this is your last tournament.

A birdie fest on a defenseless golf course. Is too common on the US tour. Grow the rough before tournament play. Then trim it back for members. Make these guys work for it.

These courses play over 7,000 yards already, there’s not much more to do unless you want 20 fairway bunkers and 14 stimp greens at every hole. The courses aren’t easy… they’re just pros 😂

People don’t understand golf. You can go out and shoot 25 under over 4 days or 25 over in 2… it’s golf, every course is different, if you’re complaining about good golf being played and good scores being put up maybe you should watch tennis

PGA tour is so boring with these courses, guys come out and absolutely destroy them, you have to shoot 25 under over 4 days to have a chance to win, get some challenging courses - this is one of the main reasons people tune into the majors

Perhaps , perhaps not, there was wonderful approach shots I'm certainly not overjoyed watching pros struggle on stupid greens in the masters and last us open, you still have to be able to sell the game whether it just under par or 25 under the game still finds a winner

I love this, they have to be completely on their game for every hole...very little 'luck of the bounce' involved....some of the difficult courses are like watching mini golf where anything can happen...

Every course on the tour doesn't need to be the most challenging course they've ever played. It's fun to see them play easier courses every once in a while. Makes you also appreciate the more difficult ones more.
