Impressed by Germany this year. German teams used to be blue-collar outfits, that sometimes upset favorites due to their meticulousness, drive, and unrelenting work ethics. But this team seems different. A handful of up and coming NHLers with real top shelf skill like Seider or Peterka (I'll always appreciate someone with such a Czech last name, btw :D). They played pretty much parity with the world champions today. Anything can happen, really, and if Edmonton loses their series and Draisaitl comes ... those guys not just could, but should have medal ambitions.

this year? When earlier? You mean 10 or 20 years ago? Germany, and other "small ice hockey nations" have also become stronger in the past few years.

@@toSirius No. Germany, while improving steadily, have never been IHWC favorites, or co-favorites. Until the last couple of years ago, they never had franchise NHL players like Draisaitl. They a handful of journeymen to established NHL players like Sturm, or Hecht, but never top shelf talent. This is literally the best German hockey generation ever. They now have several players who are the top guns in their respective NHL teams, or very soon will be. That’s new. That was not the case 10 yers ago, or even 5 years ago. Never ever before in history, would I look at the German national team thinking: “They could win the whole thing.” Not once ever. This is the first time. Most people here evidently understand that as a compliment (and it is meant as such), yet here you come with your disproportionate ego, and take a praising comment as a slight.

I'm happy to see ice hockey alive and well in more and more countries. Even the lower group A games I watched were good. Ten years ago it was still kendo on skates with a puck in the mix. Good luck going forward!

Я думаю, это печально, что Россия не играет... Это, конечно, был бы лучший турнир... Кроме того, немецкая команда не в полном составе, так как многие из их лучших игроков не отпущены НХЛ... Несомненно, что Германия производит больше игроков мирового класса... Так что будущее выглядит неплохо... привет из Берлина I think it's sad that Russia doesn't play... That of course, would be a better tournament... Also, the German team isn't at full strength, as many of their best players aren't released by the NHL... There is no doubt that Germany is producing more world-class players... So the future looks good... greetings from Berlin

@@matthiasjurisch2221 bro😂 no country is in their best strength Finland is missing their best players expect Rantanen, no NHL goalkeeper, juuse Saros the second best goalkeeper in the world didn't come to play and Roope hintz, leading NHL playoffs scoreboard There is around 20 Finnish players still playing in the NHL and we might get some Finnish players to still come to play for fin

Bro, i am not even gonna lie What were those refs doing. Yes finland broke the game and got penalties but why didnt germany get any penalties from same kind of situations, they got 2 goals in powerplay. Or 1 but it was right after the powerplay ended so.

someone probably has a TV contract to broadcast it, I noticed the first game was briefly streaming in Canada but then stopped when they noticed since TSN runs the games

I wear glasses since the age of 7, and that is partly because of that I never became a good ice hockey player, but on 00:42 in this video, I can still see that the slow motion is not that of the equaliser for Germany because on this view the puck stops on the OUTER side of the net and does not enter the goal!!! IIHF, please put the right sequence here!!!😲🤨

Deutschland ist sehr gut in Form
Our defenders need to stop blocking our goalie lol. Twice they were taking his line of sight when the German player was somewhere else. Next game we gotta hammer these mistakes out because Sweden is not as forgiving.

@@rvrby2541 Hockey players in ruSSia serve as a tool for propaganda, as always in every dictatorship in history. Unimaginable ruSSians coming to Tampere or Riga with "Z" Zwasticas on their cars, wawing "Z" flags or "Za Putina" [For Putin] flags...as we saw this on their stadiums during KHL.
