@@7kakan if you read my whole comment, I was saying how it's nice to see Canada win something because when it comes to ALL the sports they're a part of, it's very rare to see them win in this modern age... Other than these tournaments (IIHF, Olympics, World juniors) they're in, the country and the cities that have teams in professional leagues, all struggle to win because other countries are ALWAYS better than them... Canada can't even compare to other countries when it comes to soccer and a lot of Olympic events, but basketball, football, baseball and now hockey (since the 1990s), Canada is destroyed by the US...!

Congrats to Germany for silver 🇩🇪 from Latvia!! Really earned it, hopefully next year Germany vs Latvia 👍

Personally, I doubt it. I am pretty sure the world cup of hockey is next year, meaning ALOT of nhl players are gonna be playing. So its gonna be hard for teams like Latvia to compete. But anything is possible. For reference, the last world cup in 2016, Crosby, Tavares, Bergeon, Marchand, Doughty played for Canada. Matthews and Mcdavid played too but for different teams because of their age.

I feel bad for the Americans. They played an excellent and entertaining tournament and would have deserved a medal too. But at the same time it is amazing to have new medalists here and there is no doubt that the Bronze means so much more for the Latvians than it would have meant for the Americans. So congratulations Germany and Latvia, awesome ending to this WHC even if it wasn't quite enough against Canada! 🇫🇮

Well, Latvia and Germany are happy with whatever medals they win and Canada is only happy when they win the gold so I guess everyone is happy!!!

Don't worry, its still the biggest big win for germany in recent ice hockey history, it was our first medal since the 1950s when the world championship had just 4 nations 😂 In the first 2 thirds I was pretty sure we would win but in the last, that defense was just perfect and it was a deserved win. We will keep getting better until one day we finally make gold and I think our players have proven that they must not be underestimated even by the best of the best 😉

@@boonamai8926 I don't think that teams are underestimating Germany anymore. The almost won the gold medal at the Olympics. Now came close in the world championships. They are now one of the top teams in the world. They deserved to win a medal. Nothing wrong with silver. :-)

Germany has endured the greatest genocide in world history which has gone unreported and is largely not known, even to their own people who are taught a skewed history of the truth. But I am aware of it. All of it and will cheer the German nation on whenever I can.

As a Canadian we love this game and its almost as good to see countries like Germany and Latvia putting on a show as it is to win it. Almost. Lets keep growing this game!

Not one single time have I seen a comments section so clean after Canada wins gold, Germany, your team is incredible, Moritz Seider looked proud in his home colours. This is a prime example of how you handle a loss, your pride in your team is why Canadians always speak highly of you. Canada takes hockey very seriously and we're not easy to beat because it matters that much to us, up until the third your boys brought a hell of a fight. It wasnt meant to be this year, but next time your guys will be wiser, and hungrier for gold, cant wait to see it, congrats!

Amazing championship. Germany showed such courage, it was amazing to watch. Latvia surpassed all expectations and clashed with the giants of hockey, taking some of them down. I'm glad we got bronze this year, but Canada just doesn't give any of the underdogs a chance :D

Nobody is sad except the players, its historic for german ice hockey. First world championship medal since 1953, and back then 4 teams participated 😂

Really wanted our team to win, they were such a joy to watch the entire tournament but congrats to Canada. The 3rd period was domination, so it’s definitely deserved and silver is an amazing success for us anyways

Да из всех команд на этом чм именно а Канадцев был самый сильный состав и больше всего ясное дело НХЛ овцев, для примера в Финляндии был Рантанен и Какко ,но многих НХЛ овцев небыло,у Швейцарцев против Немцев играло пять игроков НХЛ ,не было ихнего лидера Йози,не было Майера,Сутера и даже вратаря первого не поставили ,явно недооценили соперника но уже не будут впредь так делать

Congrats Canada you really deserved it! When this team was announced a lot of people said we wouldnt even make the Semis and that Swiss or Finland would win it, guess they proved everyone wrong once again!

Germany played Canada strong for 2 periods, but Canada took over in the 3rd and dominated. Good game German (from a Canadian), for 2 periods you were right with us.

If all the best players are available for all teams Canada wins 9 times out of 10 and that's a fact, just look at the World Cup and the Olympics (with NHL players not the nerfed versions of 2018 and 2022)

It is a reasonable statement as Canada expects to win Gold every year and usually does; where as this is Latvia's first ever medal and Germany's first in like a bazzillion years. So proportionately those two teams accomplished much more. So lighten up Francis.

@Sandman_says_Run, Runner You're correct. In a sense. He said he was proud of Germans and Latvians. He said nothing about Canadians. It's a slap on the face of Canadian boys. If Germans are proud of Germans, that's fine, but as a Canadian, to say that ' I am proud of Germans,' because Canadians are expected to win' is just plain stupid statement. Is he also proud of Germans killing Canadians boys on Juno Beach ? Even though Canadian boys kicked Germans' stinking asses as it was expected ? We'll have no Canada if we can not be proud of ourselves. Fly your ' Maple Leaf' high on July 1st. Remember those who gave it all so we can enjoy and be proud of our boys. And girls ! Maybe I am prouder than him because I was not born here, and I don't take Canadian citizenship for granted. I had tears in my eyes when I got my citizenship, and I have tears in my eyes each time our boys bring gold. My Canadian flag flies high. I don't drink ' Bud Light'.

You are not originally from Canada so maybe English is not your first language; therefore, I will give you a little benefit of the doubt. Just so you know, he actually did say some thing about Canadians when he said, "I am MORE proud..."; "more" means he is also proud of what our Canadian boys did. However, at this moment in time, he is "more" proud of the accomplishments of smaller hockey countries doing amazing things since it is much much harder for them. "More" is an inclusionary term not exclusionary. Recognizing one does not diminish the other. Like I said, his comment not a stretch and no, it is not a slap in the face. You must be one of those people that labels and burdens the children with the sins of the father. Otherwise you wouldn't make that HUGE LOGIC LEAP and hyper-exaggeration of a guy being proud of hockey players in 2023 equating to supporting Nazis in 1939-45. Maybe his relatives are from Germany or Latvia, or maybe he is just recognizing an amazing accomplishment; you don't know. I am glad you are happy to now be Canadian, but do not for one minute lecture or question native Canadians about their loyalty our how high our flag flies. Part of being Canadian is also being humble and recognizing other people and other countries. Maybe that is a lesson you have not learned yet or a trait you have not yet picked up. Just an FYI, my grandfather fought for Canada in WWII and my great uncles fought and died for Canada in WWI. P.S. (The majority of Canadians, even the hockey loving ones, do not care about or value this tournament... at all.) P.P.S. Let me ask you this. You hear a story about a young man repeatedly running back into a burning building to save 20 men, women, and children... would you be proud of that young man for being a good human being? Now if you found out that young man lived in Germany, would it change how you feel? Could you also be more proud of that young man in that moment than a relative who just had a normal average day? Does this mean you love your relative less, or are NOT proud of him/her? No, of course not, as it is only a moment in time. Just think about it.

Great game. Glad that Canada won. Germany played very well and came close.

Amazing. Germany's steady improvement over the past 5 years is unprecedented. Who in the world gave the German team any chance to reach the finals? nobody. Yet, they held Canada to a draw for 2 periods in the gold medal game and won the silver. True grit.

Everyone plays hockey, but Canadians become champions. Congrats Canada!

So many firsts in this year. So glad for Latvia and Germany. It will only be better for this tournament if more teams can step up to the table and challenge household nations.

A good game played by two excellent teams. Hockey is like that. Very enjoyable and Germany must be congratulated.

I'm so happy that our german team got so much input and influence from skandinavian stuff over the last years! This made the games and defense so much better!. Thanks to many of them, e.g. Toni Söderholm, Pekka Kangasaluska, etc., further to so many fin players in our league. And as a Adler Mannheim and esp. Finnland fan ofc to the Soramies family ;-) Natürlich auch Danke an den ewigen Mannheimer Harold Kreis! Danke Finnland!

U.S. had a very good team. I thought that they would at least get the silver medal. Came close, but lost both of the last two games in overtime and came away with no medals. Probably the best team ever to now win a medal.

Canada has the most titles in the world junior championship, world championship, world cup/canada cup, spengler cup, and the olympics (both for men and women). This is despite the fact that the world championship takes place during the NHL playoffs, and the fact that the vast majority of olympics didn't have NHL players participate.

Two years ago, Canada lost their first three games, but still won the gold. Canada always seems to take a few games to work together well enough and play like a team. That happened again this time. When they beat Czechia, I thought that they just might win again, as they showed that they could beat a top team.

I like how good Latvia and German played, good tournament! Geetings from Finland! It was somehow ridiculous tourny for Canada tbh.. They played against SLO, SVK, KAZ, SUI, CZE, FIN, LAT, GER..

I'm proud of our boys, they fought like eagles. But Canada is simply the master of this sport. No bad blood between Canada and Germany.

2:02, great courage to shoot on that play instead of try to make the pass, when you feel like you can score, do it, don't screw up the play with a pass.

I'm Canadian... and I don't know... nobody knows how USA could be 0 for 11 (is it?) in World Championship semi final games... But look at all those Swede World Junior teams who went undefeated in round robin... but laid an egg when it mattered most...Anyway, it was still great to see all those speedy and very talented US D1 college kids, get a chance to shine on the Big Stage... And make no mistake... SHINE THEY DID! ... Two very close OT losses... If it wasn't for BAD PUCK LUCK... Yanks would have NO LUCK at all...
