We moved into the top four on Wednesday after goals from Gabriel Martinelli and Emile Smith Rowe wrapped up an impressive win against West Ham United.
Having cruised past Southampton last time out, it was no surprise to see Mikel Arteta name an unchanged side as we looked to build on the momentum we built up there.
We certainly came flying out of the blocks, the intensity shown the team only matched by that of the fans in a packed Emirates Stadium.
But in a first half of few clear-cut chances, we posed the more threat - although it was West Ham who first went close as Pablo Fornals bent one just past the post from the edge of the box.
Just before the interval though, as we sought to crank up the pressure, we pieced together a lovely flowing move involving Martin Odegaard and Bukayo Saka, before Granit Xhaka’s shot was blocked.
The ball was cleared to the edge of the Hammers’ area, and Kieran Tierney took aim with a stunning strike that Lukasz Fabianski pushed on to the bar and over.
Moments later Alex Lacazette forced the former Gunner into action once more with a curling effort, but the breakthrough just wouldn’t come as the goalkeeper saved smartly.
After the restart, we stayed on the front foot and took the lead when the influential Lacazette played in Martinelli behind the backline and he curled the ball into the far corner.
It was some finish - and the crowd loved every second of it.
West Ham soon came back at us, with Aaron Ramsdale forced into a smart save from Jarrod Bowen just a few short minutes later, but it was only fleeting as we continued to control the tempo of the game.
We were handed a golden chance to extend our lead when Lacazette was taken down in the area by Vladimir Coufal - a challenge that led to the defender’s red card for a second bookable offence - but our striker’s resulting penalty was saved.
It made for a slightly nervier finale than perhaps our overall performance deserved.
Gabriel hooked a half chance wide, Saka saw a shot blocked on the line and then Smith Rowe called Fabianski into action as we kept the pressure on.
We finally removed any doubt about who would take the three points when Saka raced upfield and found Smith Rowe, and the England international arrowed a shot into the bottom corner.
It sealed a fine evening’s work in N5 as we moved into fourth spot.

Saka is an absolute threat on the right wing. The way he bullied those defenders were so satisfying. Martinelli's pace and trickery is something else. 👍

I agree he done well overall. There was one moment where he gave the ball up easily when he took too long to make a pass. It's things like this that can cost us and ruin his whole performance had we been punished.

I'm over the moon for Martinelli I genuinely started to think he may never get back to being half as good as he was. The work he's put in to get back to where he is now I salute him.

Martinelli’s speed is definitely underrated. And his composure is World Class.
I really wished Lacazette scored his goal, man his important to this team with his link up play. The energy he supplied upfront is amazing too.

That Amazon documentary is surely gonna be mad! Mehn I watched the match and I was on the edge of the seat, it's been a while we enjoyed the Arsenal games, see them play the Arsenal way, see them triangular passes, coming from the back, Ramsdale holding his forte, the formation tilt, the pushing forward etc! These lads made me remember the good ole days to be sincere. Saka, Laca and Martinelli were a force! Tomi is amazing! Lord Tierney is just superb! West Ham weren't given a chance to even show they were in the top flight! A lot of chances missed if not the result would have been greater in goals for us, which is what I want to see! Arteta has got to get them to be like this in every match if he wants to see European football again, not Europa but the UEFA CHAMPIONS LEAGUE!

Love that Arteta and Partey allow Xhaka to go forward now and then. He reads the game so well. Needs to get a little sharper, but understandable after the injury. My Captain.

Xhaka is a sluggish player and very slow in making decisions. He tackles badly and sometimes passes the ball in error. But he helps the defence.

Before game started, I didn't expect much. Because West Ham has been performing really great. But I was into the game that has much tension. I'm looking forward to watching the next match. Go for the champion's league!!!

To me, I can say that I watched one of the best matches this season. Arsenal gives peace to my mind and heart. Saka and Martinelli are a best match. I can't stop watching the review again and again. This is the Arsenal I know, not the struggling one.

I am just happy that finally Arteta realised what I have always wanted; Saka and Martinelli to be first choice wingers and playing together. We have fireworks both left and right. Pepe doesn't fit at Arsenal. The team is playing well together again.

Also Lacca's positioning. The fact that he drops deep confuses the defense and the release Martineli, same way Auba benefitted from playing with him. Lacca is so underrated.

I've been in London since 2017. I couldn't decide which team to go for. I was looking for values - excellence and humility. It was like being homeless - but this year I found a home. Arteta - excellence and humility and self-discipline. And a group of young men willing to constrain themselves to live out those values. Absolutely nothing else is needed. I LOVE ARSENAL! GO ARSENAL! Here's what I feel about the Auba situation. It's just because of the captaincy he's been not showing up in games, like we used to see him performing before. He's not the type, to lead by example and I'm not saying in a bad way. He is a chill kinda guy. Everything he does is for fun. With the captaincy, he's not been able to do that. It's like tying him to a knot and he should behave the way a 'Captain' should. Unleash him and see the change. Not at all doing good for him, this captaincy. Not sure why no one sees it this way. It's a good thing to strip him off the captaincy. It happened in slightly disrespectful way considering the entire situation but nonetheless, we all love that guy. No one can 'really' hate this guy. I'm certain if he's back in the squad (not as a captain), we'll see the old Auba goalscoring machine. Mark my words!

I'm with you on that. You might be right. But some of the goals he missed? Unacceptable for a player of his (insert big word) . He was given the captaincy because of his goal scoring. And now because he wears an armband he's turned into a bum? IDK..I feel you, with the psychology, but he should be doing better.

The thing is most strikers will miss easy chances, but then go on to score a brace or hatrick which makes everyone forget the miss. At arsenal chances are a luxury. We don’t get many. We get like 2 good chances a game. That’s why Auba looks really bad. That being said, we need a striker that can contribute to other areas like winnings duels, creating chances etc. Auba doesn’t have those qualities
