    I was at that game! It was so incredible. Even though they lost big, they played hard the entire game. 60 minute hockey. Never once did I see them give up and mail it in. Says a lot about their passion and character. At the end of the game, the crowd gave them a rousing and lengthy standing ovation and you could see that they were surprised and appreciative of the standing O. Any chance of posting the full game?

    This match is one of the reasons why the United States and Canada were placed in the same group in future tournaments.

    Why?

  • @Tubewings

    @Tubewings

    2 жыл бұрын

    @@olayemichayah466 Because the U.S. and Canada were so dominant in women's hockey at the time (and still are, to an extent). In fact, in this Olympics alone, Canada finished with a goal differential of +39 in the Group Stage while the U.S. finished with a goal differential of +30. At the following 2011 World Championship, the U.S. had a GD of +25 after group play, while Canada's GD was +21, with no goals allowed. That's when they decided to change the format for 2012 where the top four teams were placed into Group A (automatically qualifying them for the knockout round, so group play was merely done for seeding purposes).

    Show some sympathy and respect. Don't destroy them so badly. Its called sportsmanship. Learn it. Majorly disrespectful.

    I think it's more respectful to show no sympathy. An opponent deserves the utmost effort as a show of respect. Who wants pity or lackluster effort?

    Agreed. After 6-0 the Canadians should have eased up. Play the 3rd or 4th lines only. Give the other team a little respect. Other teams in other sports ease up if the score is getting too lopsided. They play their second string players

    Well played Canada! Although Canada had like 8 months of Winter weather, it's quite a boring country without much to do, so winter sports is very popular, so it's unsurprising.

    In Toronto 4 months. In Vancouver about 2 months of bullshit weather. Edmonton, and Calgary around 6 months of BS weather. Yes, I hate snow and cold temperatures below 0 Celsius. Never watch women's Olympic hockey because of games such as this. The Canadians should have eased up instead of running up the score
