Highest Paid Museum Careers Part 1 | Museum Career Ideas | Discover If Museum Jobs Are For You

In this weeks video, I'll share the highest paid Museum Careers. Working in a museum can be really rewarding and pay well! Many people assume museum jobs do not offer sufficient pay and while this is true sometimes, it is not always the case. Here are some great career ideas to get you started!
Who am I? My name is Alivia Brown and I am a recent UCLA Anthropology graduate on a mission to find a career that I love. My major does not have a straight forward "path" as many would say and I am not only determined to prove that I can be successful in my major but also demonstrate my ability to find a career that brings me joy. This is my journey to expanding my global and anthropological knowledge. This is my journey to finding the best career I can. This is my journey to finding happiness. This is my journey to success.

    to all the folks trying to get into the museum field: unless your family is affluent enough to sustain you, or have connections within the field, better think thrice before joining this field....the forever low or even no pay, and almost zero chance of getting a promotion is frustrating to say the least

    Why

  • @mgunfighter

    @mgunfighter

    Жыл бұрын

    @@sdkj24jay41 it's just that the museum industry is not a necessity compare to other industry like medical industry etc., resulting in a limited demand in human resources. plus there are just way too many liberal arts/ humanities graduates who want to get into the museum industry, the industry cannot simply take in that amount of labor supply. this simply results in the general norm of tons of people trying to get the same job(often time with shitty pay grade). if you don't trust me, you can just google the salary range of museum workers. a lot of the museum workers left the field because of the low pay. on top of that, museums in general just cost loads of money to run, while unable to generate enough income to sustain themselves. most of the time, the museums require gov funding/ donations to keep them going. so, the top of the food chain(museum directors/ boards) are almost always struggling to keep things together, while the junior workers are struggling to break into the industry. this is just a structural problem of the industry. i, myself, have been through it, so it's better to give it a second thought before you join the museum industry.

    I like how you said that you have to break your down your description for the average Joe or the average Karen to understand. That's what I try to do on my videos. A lot of other historians or people that do research either give such a concise narrow perspective of a particular topic just to push one point and not understanding the full context. It's hard but it's possible, plus insightful and necessary for those that are hungry for knowledge

    I’m a recent grad and majored in communications and am really interested in working at a museum or art gallery. Can you please give me any advice in how to get my foot in the door at any of the two places? Unfortunately since I still had no idea what I wanted to major in I chose communications because it is versatile and didn’t do any museum internships which I regret. But any advice is much appreciated. ☺️
