High & Wide Load Train Gives Horn Salute On Railroad Bridge! Special Locomotive On Norfolk Southern
Ойын-сауық
Fast Trains, High & Wide Load, Train Horn Salute, Ancient Bridges, Train With DPU & Kansas City Southern Locomotive On Norfolk Southern Mixed Freight. These Trains Are In Camden, Ohio On The Norfolk Southern Railroad New Castle Sub. Also included is the Penn Central Heritage Locomotive At The End.
We see the ancient bridges on Seven Mile Road just north of Camden, Ohio. The automobile bridge is well over a hundred years old and the railroad bridge is old but I don't know when it was built. It was a little over 90F degrees and humid. This is a very remote area and an awesome place to watch trains. The first train is an eastbound grain train on its way to Queensgate Yard in Cincinnati and beyond. After it passed I waited for a couple of hours and decided to leave since I had a long drive and it was hot. On the way back I noticed a train waiting in Camden to head west. It had a Kanas City Southern locomotive in the consist so I decided to go back and wait for that train to pass. On the way back I stopped in Camden to look at some rail dated 1899 that is still in use. Maintenance of way equipment was sitting on that track.
Shortly after I got back an eastbound train with DPU went past me. That was a good one but I was still hoping for the KCS train to pass.
Next we see yet another eastbound train that the KCS train was waiting for. This was train number 123 which is used for high and wide loads. That train had a DPU and gave me a horn salute while it was going over the bridge. That was an awesome catch! Per my viewer Thomas, 123 starts in East Yard in Decatur, Illinois where they have a plant and goes to DeButts Yard in Chattanooga, Tennessee. One time I got the 123 at High Bridge, Kentucky when it had Caterpillar loads on the front and four or five huge transformer loads behind them. You gotta see that video.
Then we finally get to see the train with the KCS locomotive. This train was westbound headed towards Muncie, Indiana and beyond. Listen to those locomotives as they speed up while going up grade next to the 7 Mile Creek. It took me hours in the heat waiting for that train to come but it was worth it. I left after that and as you will see I got stuck in traffic on Interstate 75 about 10pm. That was painful because I was tired, had a long drive and right after getting out of that jam the weather got bad with a severe thunderstorm. The Railfan trip was great but I do get caught in traffic jams quite a bit. I also included part of a train that I filmed on the way to Camden. That train which is near the end of the video has the Penn Central Norfolk Southern Heritage Unit eastbound near 7 Mile, Ohio. That video will be in another video. Don't forget to see what the pets are up to and check out the slide show that comes from this video! Happy Birthday Dave from Shreveport! My wife's birthday is just one day after yours. Lol
I used my main camera and my number 3 camera in this video. The second train and the train with the high and wide loads were recorded in 4K without the stabiliser on as well as a few other short scenes.
Filmed Thursday, July 27, 2023 in 4K at 60fps & 1080p at 60fps. Thanks for watching!

Wow, 1899 rail still in use. No heavy coal loads on that rail to wear it out. Good catch and sharing.
That is one awesome iron bridge. Sadly, most of them have been abandoned or replaced. I'm glad you highlighted it in your video. Thanks 👍 JT! 😊😊😊

I do enjoy your video's and what you go through and where you go and the miles you drive to give us all these different trains😊 thanks😮
Great catches JT, the Kansas City Southern was cool, i.sure hope they keep that paint scheme. It sure is pretty for a locomotive. Thanks for the video JT.👌👍😇

I saw on the Internet that Canadian pacific released a drawing of the colors they decided on for the locomotives. They basically going to use Canadian Pacific red but they’re also going to be using stripes that use KCS’scolor scheme.

Another great location for recording. Love the bridge. Love watching the doggies play! Thanks, Jaw Tooth.
Thank you for this video of Norfolk Southern trains at this bridge in Camden, Ohio on 27 July 2023, Jaw Tooth! I enjoyed watching the trains in this video. You mentioned Norfolk Southern train #123 with the Caterpillar loads on the front end. Train #123 starts at East Yard in Decatur, Illinois, where Caterpillar has a plant, to DeButts Yard in Chattanooga, Tennessee. That is why we see this train on the Rat Hole Line at The Hill in Crescent Springs, Kentucky. It was nice to finally see the Norfolk Southern train with the CPKS (former Kansas City Southern) engine as the second unit.

Thanks for the information Thomas! I will add that to the description. I remember looking up the Caterpillar place on Google Maps a year or so ago and forgot where it was. I got 123 on High Bridge in Kentucky with Scott and it had a bunch of Caterpillars on it and it had several large transformers. I think you probably saw that video also. That is my best one so far with the 123. I love it when I hear on the scanner that 123 is approaching because you never know how many big loads it will have. Sometimes it doesn't have any but other times like this video I get really lucky
Great video. You always manage to find interesting places with awesome trains. Sorry about the heat and traffic. It's great that you do all this - so we can just sit back and enjoy. Hope that new mower works good,

Like your video’s. Great horn salute! The KCS unit now represents a fallen flag, now a Canadian Pacific Kansas City unit. If you go back and watch this video, at first I thought it was my eyes or your camera. The bottom of the railroad track flexes with each car that goes over the bridge. Look at the roof of the auto underpass as each car rolls over it. Very interesting!

Lots of good stuff in this video. The 125 year old bridge is something you don't see anymore. Do the high and wide loads make the defect detector report a defect?
@JawTooth

No, not that I know of. That reminds me of chasing the Big Boy steam locomotive and having it set off the defect detectors saying hot axle

Ger R Done JT... you got the best interesting trains... lots of coal and iron.
For the historical part of the tape it was surprising to see that the Indiana Bridge Company was founded in Indianapolis and moved to Muncie IN in 1886. Amazingly it is still in business even though a fair amount of their work is now in structures. While the NS bridge apparently is not a teeter totter like the last one take a hard look at 14:00 where you'll see a piece of ballast pop off near the center of the bridge and fall to the road. Great trains today and the NS\KCS set was sitting by the cornfield and looked really sharp. The 1 train had 4 cars of aluminum ingots and is probably headed to Alabama wrapping up that long trip from Quebec. And for the big-ticket items those Cat dozers will fill in Norfie. An extra pat and belly rub for Brandy as she deals with all the excitement of the newcomer. So here's to those Golden Ages of bridges and there are some websites for them 1:14

Thanks for the information! Amazing that the company is still in business
I grew up just North of KCS's original Gulf coast port Port Arthur, Texas. It was named after Arthur Stilwell the founder of KCS. For most of the deisel history of KCS their locomotives were painted white with the KCS logo in red. During the 80's they switched to grey and the red, yellow and dark green paint scheme came in 2000. Since they merged their operations with CP, who knows what the new colors will be.
