My experience with extreme blue bolts would offer a slightly different explanation...the tank that helped bring out the darkest colors would most likely be due to the fact that the substrate and water conditions used best match the original conditions the shrimp were raised in at birth. So if you wait a few generations in each tank you should see the same dark colours. Love your videos by the way they are very informative and honest..

Thank You so much for another great video. Super nice Blue Blots, are you adding anything like peat or sphagnum moss to help keep you PH down, or is it just R/O and soil?

Interesting experiment, thanks for sharing. I have noticed that fresh soil seems to be affecting the pigmentation, maybe also due increase in available nutrients?

I thought shrimp coloration changed depending on substrate - for breeding purposes light color substrate helps you identify the lighter colored shrimp easier; if placed on darker substrate the shrimp will naturally darken up a little to camo itself like you said. Is this wrong and dark substrate from the beginning helps the shrimp to be darker overall??? If so, I need to re-do my tanks lol

This video saved my life, I was wondering why my Blue bolt shrimps turn all white. 1. My kh reach nearly 40 caused by seiryo rocks 2. My base substrate is ADA Power sand + La plata sand

@@ShrimpTimeInt yeah too high and I’m very concern about it. Today I’m going to buy and change sand to Benibachi black soil and the next day check the water parameter and add SEACHEM Acid buffer to reduce KH. Hope my blue bolt will survive.
