My friend has the A300pro and he bundled it with a SMSL500 and it blew his mind. These speakers need a DAC. Also when he switched to XLR, he said it improved the sound even further. He has upgraded from the A100s.

I don’t have $2300 to buy these, but I am 100% sold on them, minus the speaker dandruff…CLASSIC!

Just Schitty enough

Man thats a cool setup. But dude there are so many great old speakers out there going for cheap! Got a set of my "grails", Realistic Mach 3. Did the fostex horn swap and the cloth sub swap. It sounds incredible for the 90 bucks I got in it. Sold my set of D4 vegas(which were good too) to a buddy after getting them set up right. Still our parents and grandparents use to drop big bucks for speakers back in the day.

Hornloaded ribbon FTW! I have one myself with a diy waveguide for my Foundtek ribbons!

Running these on XLR's will be quiet an improvement.

Edifier is a lot cheaper in Europe. In my country you can find A300 Pro for 1500$ (1450$ with discount). But that is still a lot. I end up buying S3000 Pro for 550$. And? I love them!!! Update: Now they're 1000 euros. I'm starting to think about buying them.

For around 600 euros here in Europe, the A100 is a great deal. They are a beast if you listen to them in near field, for something like a PC with stands setup. I do expect them not being enough if youre placing them in a big room like Zeos one in the video.

600 euro gets you Triangle AIO Twin for your pc. best speakers ive owned. also, nevermind just hooking them up to your pc. whack your network into them with an RJ45 connection.

Zeos, I love you man, but all you have to do is flip your source input cables and you've "assigned" the right-hand speaker to be the left one.

I like a lot the entertaining and engaged style of Zeo, great job btw ! However I have also learned to take time to read more nuanced comments to make my mind and a few questions remain here open. In the case of ribbon tweaters 2 questions come up immediately: 1) how broad is the sweet spot to listen to it ? Or does the horn mitigates the directivity issue of ribbons ? 2) the details of ribbons give a Wouah effect at the beginning it’s true. but how tiring are they for long hearing sessions ? Thx

In my experience: 1) Ribbons don't have the soundstage 'width' of say horns, but have greater 'depth,' 2) Ribbons encompass high-resolution imaging without fatigue, especially for long sessions. My two main speakers are Quad Z-4s and JBL CDI 3600s, so I speak with much experience. The Quads are my favorite speakers of all time, and while I love the huge soundstage the JBLs give, they can be fatiguing with certain types of music, especially over long sessions.

I got to admit I love watching this channel.🤔🤫🤪 My whole living room is dedicated with JBL 5-series from him. He surely knows his shit!🤴 I went into a Best Buy designer Center in Bridgewater New Jersey and listened to $80,000 systems with my wife and we much preferred ours which is based upon Stevens recommendations.🥳 Not kidding!😳 Three separate high-end systems. B&W 801's built lije a tank?, two macs as Amos the whole enchilada! I can't believe they wouldnt sound amazing? My wife said that she would consider it if this system sounded that much better. As on our home system we played the same Adele & James Blunt songs and it was no contest!🤪 I do watch other channels with much higher end stuff but that doesn't mean it's better!🤯😇

What do you mean by "has an app"? They don't have an app in Europe. Btw i found that using them as monitors sounds noticable better by bypassing the wireless connection between the speakers.

For the record, Supposed when used in that tense, is supposed to be spelled with a D at the end.

Check out the specs between these and the Edifier S3000Pro. They are the same. I also wanted to buy these but the specs are the same...same TI chip, same XMOS chip, etc., except for the drivers and cabinet. So I didnt buy it.

How do you add a sub? It does not have a sub out I right?

the main issue of this review - you used them on wireless mode. they are 2 times better on wire mode. Then they have amazing bass.

To get the tweeter closer to ear height. Stands are too tall. BUT ALSO That helps bias the sound from a higher position to match the TV height

How are they 5 months later? Question, will the wireless connection between the speakers be disabled when they are both in balanced mode and both attached to the balanced XLR inputs to an external DAC?

I was soooo close to getting these, but came across a new set of swans m300 mkii for $450. Couldn't pass them up. The 3 ways give me incredibly full sound. I use them as nearfield.

I’m liking you more and more. Your music choice is proving to be just impeccable. Days of The New Down Town is one of my favorites alongside Shelf in the Room, Solitude and Face of the Earth. The whole Gorillaz Demon Day’s album I play start to finish to this day. I love my Klipsch the Sevens, I look forward to your future review of them. I have yet to augment them with a subwoofer. I intend to. Back in May they hit their break in because one day I had to adjust my EQ thru my laptop because they just sounded different almost more lively but somehow smoother. Had to lower the bass and ease the mids up a touch with the treble ever so slightly lowered. I initially ran them more”U” shaped with bass raised, mids dropped and treble raised. I love them with the grills off, they are just sexy fucking speakers. They sound better with the grills off too.

Mr Z, I don't think I'm going off script here but we knew Edifier and Swans would progressively aim up from their budget beginnings. I don't consider 2300usd a cheap speaker, but it was inevitable that Edifier would sink more money into research. Thx for the review.

I just spent 990 on klipsch McLaren five's, they're nice and I love all of the connectivity and app, just not sure if 1000 nice, Going to be pairing with rel 1003 mk2 sub

Run them for a while and then turn them up.. THEN add the sub. They will surprise you

No subwoofer support out of the box (not even a basic one) is inexcusable at this price IMO

These speakers can be used two ways. If you use the XLR inputs from a preamp or dac/preamp, you can run two subwoofers. If you dont need the Kleer wireless route (which is where you need the remote), just get the Airpulse SM200.

Why dind't you try balanced mode?

It would invoke the ADC. The more digital you can keep the signal before the internal DSP the better. I may hook them up as studio monitors soon and test on a new desk.

That's funny, I don't have stands yet for my McLaren five's, using a couple Bluetooth speaker boxes and was actually thinking on putting the mclaren's on their side to have tweeters more head level.

funny you should say that stands don't make a difference. well, I suggest you try the Pangea or Monoprice types with four square tubes from metal base to metal speaker pads that come in four heights of 18 to 32". the monoprice seem to be the same as the Pangea for half the money. i had the Pioneer BS22s on an old pair of three round pole steel stands but when I put them on the Pangeas, the bass got more solid and the imaging tightened up. my friend put them under his $6k Volent monitors. ...hifitommy

More overpriced bookshelf speakers, at least in a performance sense. To be honest, adequate, affordable and better tweetage hasn't been an issue for 3 decades by now. These style of products are so overdone/hyped to the point of looking generic. These overly plentiful off-brand names end up driving me more towards JBL and DIY than ever before. I fell for the Jamo S803 review and was relatively underwhelmed.

I mean 803 only really fights the RB42 down there. I really liked its delivery. I have the Fluid Image 2 setup right now. Nearly $4k and holy hell. So get ready for more overpriced stuff but man are they worth.

If I made speakers, I purposely make the bottoms ugly just to futz with Z. Yes, I am that petty.

Sorry. I am a pushover for silky treble and mids, and I augment any bookshelf speaker with a sub. But the pain in the ass use of knobs or reliance of bloootooof and its limits for normal use is a big nope.

All the best speakers use Selsun Blue so they don't get dandruff.

You can buy airpulse a300pro in Europe for 1.100€.

Only I have to flip them upside down. My TV is high and those were the stands I chose. Did I not make that clear in the video? It is to prove a point. It COSTS NOTHING to experiment with placement. Do so on whatever your setup is.
