    $4000 cable!?... how they come up with the price for that??? Here's the how I think Mr Cardas made the decision. Hmmm this cable sounds really good, I think, I brought them from China whole sales for $1 per foot. I'll just add a 3 more zeros to that and see how many suckers.. I meant customer will buy these.

    Right, and how much better do you think your *music* will sound after you've spent the money on said tower ? I'm not a fan of the fact that the best amps cost 5-10K, and the headpones another ~5K, but compared to high-end speaker rigs that isn't considered expensive. Horses for courses.

    Wow nice video and collection of gear. My question is if it is a good idea to get a solid state prior to tube amp? I just like the WOO Sa22 sound but I'm just starting to build a digital system. (I'm an old vintage ('73) Marantz 4415 Quad receiver guy, lol).

    Do i forfeit the warranty if i use something other than a stax amp ? i was told by a stax salesman in Canada that i will indeed lose warranty if i need a warranty claim and i wasnt using a stax amp Aslo , i have an old stax amp i wish to use temporarily until i can afford another amp SR-7/B (may be a numeral 8 my eyes are bad ) Will that drive the SR 009 while i decide which amp i want ? I have Rays Darkstar for my HD 800s . Its very sweet Can the thunderbolt drive my HD800s as well as the Stax SR009 ? Im thinking id sell my Darkstar if thats the case Id also need to ask how well it drove the HD800s as compared to the Darkstar Since its also a pre amp can it also replace my Moon audio Neo that i presently use in my home setup ? Cheers

    What is the difference between a 300 dollar and a 3000 dollar amplifier and can the sound quality differnce be scientifically quantified with a double blind test? I've been looking for an amplifier to I didnt need to strain my DAC that much, but electronics wise I cant see why 50 dollars worth of parts would cost more prebuilt than about 100 dollars.

    @InnerFidelity11 жыл бұрын

    Well...I guess I'm trying to say that an HD 600 on a Woo WA3 sounds damn good for under a grand. Putting numbers on it is kinda silly I s'pose. One of the problems I have with the lessor e-stat cans and amps is that I think you can get sound just as good from dynamic systems with much less fuss. But if you want the world's best sound on headphones, you gotta spend the big bux on the 009 and a $5000 amp.

    Epiphany Acoustics in UK makes fantastic products. They have a O2 like JDS Labs that got several awards. I own their O2 with installed DAC and it's an absolutely amazing sound for the relatively low price. If you're looking to spend less, Electric Avenues PA2V2 is best sound for the lowest price you'll find. Gary makes them himself and sells on eBay with many satisfied customers.

    That's what happens when the market is small, "high end" and you're getting people to make them for you. That said, enough 7N wire for multiple 3m cables is still pretty expensive for a DIYer, just not $4k expensive. I can't hear the difference between 5N and 7N wire personally. I can hear a small difference between silver and copper though.

    Also try to do more editing and have a script. Yes it takes more time, but if you can afford it it so worth it. But that way you can simply edit away that stutter and uhm-ing. Of course no of that is possible for show-room videos but that the office/home it will really make a difference. :) Great information as always, didn't know there were so many stax amps... :S (Makes me want to sell on of my arms and both my legs to buy a kit, only need on arm to change the volume and music. ;P )

    +Blaziken584 There's nothing stupid about spending your disposable income on things you're passionate about. What might be worth pointing out though is that for a neophyte who gets his hands on a pair (perhaps not the Stax but say the HD 800), that he doesn't necessarily need to spend $1000s for a DAC/Amp to hear the headphones performing at their full potential: Toms Hardware reviewed them a while back, comparing several DACs of varying costs against an integrated motherboard chip, the Realtek ALC889 (a chip that is worth roughly $2), and it turns out the differences are negligible.

    No audiophile would make that generalization.

    You know what I meant. And no they don't make good gaming headsets. They actually make one of the worst ones available. Nothing but hiss and really shitty sound. Do yourself and get some Sennheiser PC 360s, or if you have the money get yourself some Beyerdynamic MMX300s. Huge difference. I wouldn't take TBs for free.

    LOL 4 grand on cables, you have to be a special kind of Muppet to spend that much on cables) Did you know almost every amplifier on the planet uses constant current sources and mirrors?. MOSFET's?...big deal, FET inputs?...so what, this is typical hifi BS to woo those with more money than sense. Then there is the amplifier that if you pay 2 grand more you get a capacitor upgrade, FFS; you could design, develop and manufacture new capacitors that that price, what a rip off. If you want a great amplifier, buy the bench mark amplifier from a well known brand; they will have invested far more on design and development plus they would have made custom silicon. A good example is the old Pioneer A400.
