High Bilirubin Levels: Symptoms and Treatment

If you have high bilirubin, it usually means there is something going wrong in the liver, gallbladder, or pancreas. The causes of high bilirubin are varied, but the treatments will focus on restoring these organs back to health. Appropriate diagnosis from a doctor is required, but here at ONsalus we can give you some background on high bilirubin levels including information on both symptoms and treatment.

My whole life, my Bilirubin Levels have been really High. 37; 6, 31 today. I have a full physical every year. Tomorrow I go see the Blood Doctor specialist in Guangzhou. I saw her this time last year. I had my Gall Bladder Removed in 1992 Due to Gall Stones. My Liver is Normal. My Pancreas is normal. My Stools are Normal and regular. I am now 76 years old and I have never been told to change my diet or exercise more. I exercise daily and walk from 2 to 10 miles a day. I stopped jogging 5 years ago as I tripped and knocked off my knee cap for the 3rd time. I jogged up to 6 miles a day in 45-50minutes. Today I walked 5 miles in 2 hours. I swear I have Hepatitis but all my tests are negative. My blood sugar is on the low side of normal. I have no other Known issues. I live in South China. I would expect to not wake up one morning like my mom did not to long ago. Learned a little from the Video. Keep up the Good Work. Thank you.

In gallbladder removal, liver takes on burden where the bile comes from so avoiding high unhealthy fats and vit a in excess or high fiber can help. Rawer foods sometimes are hard to digest for me, no gallbladder lead to many complications after . You can try water with lemon or coconut water. Low glucose or fructose foods. Lower balance d lean protein. It's not uncommon body just needs to tone down without the organ to support it. You can eat fish with high fat rarely, but no beef, pork or such to avoid concerns. Chicken, lean meats and egg. Avoiding certain high fidmap if you deal with this as well. Fennel and spices not spicy is a trick too. Mint fir bile acid but not reflux from acid. Have doctor determine this gi. Good luck! Not as uncommon. Mid fast and eat small meals through day. Avoid high sugar and anything too high in vit a like sweet potato or carrot in excess. Liver can have issues long term if not in moderation. Good luck!

In UK, the range is 0-20. Back in 2014 I discovered I have high bilirubin level 55, they call it Gilbert Syndrome. I was taking milk thistle, glutathione, liv52, vegan diet, over 2 L of water daily, enough rest, etc. Nothing was working with me! Last year a start drinking Asea water. Max 120 ml/day. After just few months of drinking this water, my bilirubin drop to 30. I don't know for how long I have to drink this water because is expensive. I stop drinking Asea for 2 weeks, when I went in holiday and I didn't feel good! Next month I will have my annually blood test. :) I want to try coffee enema too. I know this will help cleaning the liver. All of us is different. I hope this help!

Nico nico Not always your bilirubin is 57 ,...bilirubin change every time even when you go in toilet or drink something,..or starving or even when you are seat for long time in one position like in a car . To tell you the truth even mine it’s same as yours when i did it last time ,.but i know that it’s not right reading because bilirubin change with your activity food sleep. Having this problem,..my suggestion it is be positive and start doing some exercises like running Never starve or thirst yourself eat often and avoid dairy sugar meat or oily food Drink juice 3 times a day before you eat make sure beetroot and carrot Eat spinach anything green ,..try to understand what body wants If body wants sleep,..go to sleep,..just make sure you drink some juice before so body start detoxing This is very important when body make you feel like you want to go in toilet,..but you do not have 100% feeling to go,...you make sure you go in toilet Reason why i say this is because any waste or gas in our body becomes toxic in our blood which make our bilirubin to accelerate high Water it’s good,..but to much water for as its not good Reason why to much water it’s not good take of all nutrients of juice or food out which heal our liver ,.and starve our cells which bacteria make them acidic ,..liver to protect itself from this strange substance give signal to the muscle valve to stop bilirubin flow,..and this how we get high bilirubin It’s like if someone is trying to hit you ,..your body it’s not relax,..it’s alert In our case liver it’s always alert of our sindrome ,..so you should fight against any toxic substance and never let your body starve And when you feel better do not ignore your syndrome,...you are not like others,..be disciplined

I asked my gp how can I have high chol when I am vegetarian he told me our body produces it, well despite "my body producing it" it has improved dramatically on a VEGAN diet...try it guys!

I had a jaundice when I was kid 'cause I 'd taken 10 tablets of ascorbic acid per day. If my grandma was not around. I though it's a candy. Cause my mom during my early years was not allowed me to eat any kinds of candy. (for my safety purposes even I don't have sick) until this one big bottle synthetic vitamins got empty . The reasons I remember other people told. Me including my moms notice I had yellowish eyes. But now no. More yellowish eyes because I learned how to. Prevent the body from sickness thru health lifestyle and avoid synthetic medicines. But by using natural foods supplements. Balance diet: by eating fruits and vegetables, learned to detoxify the body. Exercise, and enough sleep. And avoiding stressful lifestyle.

@@fromeveryting29 oh ok so I assume you have a doctor administering the TRT and getting regular bloodwork then. Yea i was doing it on my own and from the beginning my body seemed to be too sensitive to the testosterone, so I lowered my dose to 250mg a week which still was probably too much. Plus anti estrogen and anavar at low doses. For alot of men my age, this isn’t considered much, but for me i just was too sensitive to it and i guess over a 7 month period my liver couldn’t handle it. So i just woke up 1 day with slightly yellow eyes, didnt think much of it. But after 4-5 days of people making me paranoid, i went to the hospital to get checked out and get bloodwork. They kept me for a few days taking bloodwork and trying to find a cause and solution. While i was there and theat first week i felt completely fine, no symptoms really. Then the next week was worse. I started getting every severe jaundice symptom imaginable. Saw a doctor a few days ago and my bilirubin levels are much higher than when i was in the hospital. Right now my stomach doesent feel as sensitive as it was and the only symptom that’s really bothering me is the random itchiness. Drives me crazy. And just overall dont feel very energetic or motivated. I look like shit so i dont want to leave the house. So all I’m doing now id trying to eat clean and detox my body. Taking a few vitamins as well.

The first two years I got it I was monitored by a endocrinologist. I'm wondering if my liver took a slight hit after a surgery? Maybe that could impact it? Thanks for helping me take this seriously and urging me to keep an eye on it. You will get through it, my friend. It sounds pretty uncomfortable and scary. You sound like you are doing the right thing. I guess do whatever your liver needs you to do. I'm actually on testosterone because of a gender complication from birth. Have had three corrective surgeries and can't produce nearly enough testosterone myself. The whole treatment has gone wonderfully, and I was fully aware of and prepared for potentially getting some symptoms from being on synthetic hormones. I'll do whatever it takes to help my body deal with it. Testosterone saved my life. Hope you get better very soon and have great health! Thanks

Thanks for the detailed reply. I actually believe all of what your said since I learned the same thing from Anthony William's Emotional Liver podcast episode on SoundCloud. I am actually Chinese and I took Chinese herbal medicine for years and it never helped. I really think Chinese herbal medicine is useless based on my bad past experience.. but I do believe negative emotions affect the liver. I don't know which other "Eastern" methods could help. I started doing some exercises on KZread related to the Liver Meridian but it's too early to tell whether it will help or not.

Hi, avoid sugar sweets, fried items, junk foods , spicy oily foods , non veg completely. Take fruits, vegetables. And don't fast or remain hungry for too long. Bilirubin comes down within month. Pls try this. Definitely comes down. Take care.
