High Altitude Overland Adventure in Colorado's Backcountry

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

On this next leg of our overland adventure we meet up with some good friends from Ozark Overland Adventures in our Jeep Wrangler and head for the hills to explore Medano Pass and several other fantastic off-road trails high in the Colorado mountains. We’ll get a little adventurous with our taste buds when our friends cook us dinner and, if all goes well, we’ll find some epic campsites and discover some exciting new routes in Colorado that none of us have explored before.

I know this is a year later , and the misses should be backing well by now , however that being said , a little trick I learned when backing short trailers , put the transfer case in low , let the vehicle idle , keep the foot off the throttle as much as possible , computer controlled engines wont stall as easily as the old carb points engines , this allows the driver to keep up with the trailer , use the mirrors as much as possible , and keep all steering inputs small . Enjoy your channel , thank you for letting us tag along

2 highlights for me: Regina’s growing comfort with backing the trailer, and Medano pass backwards. Being from Texas, my favorite route across southern Colorado is from the east over Medano pass to the dunes, then to Creede and up the Rio Grande to its source via 520 over Stony pass to Silverton, often taking the side trip to Kite Lake.

We did the Medano Pass trail as a group coming home to California in 2012 from a two week Colorado trip. On our ADV motorcycles. Seeing that really long creek crossing and all of that sand brought back memories, not exactly good ones! I believe the trail was actually closed and gated for a number of years following a fire and winter erosion damage. Good to see its open and passable again.

Its awesome for when all my kids are home at once, and I can make an entire breakfast for everyone and have it all finished at the same same time. Keep practicing backing up the trailer. Like anything new, it takes a lot of practice. Don't get discouraged. After you become a pro, just think of the funny stories you will be able to tell. Great video guys!!

Beautiful territories, nice views at camp, and I swear I could almost smell that food cooking! Regina, it looks like you are slowly getting the hang of backing up a trailer. It can be a little like cat herding, I agree. You might try practicing with an empty parking lot and some big, empty cardboard boxes. Once you can get the trailer moving in a straight line, try adding some boxes in a pattern for obstacle avoidance. I trained my daughter this way, in little baby steps, now she can back a trailer up like nobody's business! Good luck, and keep at it. You got this! 👍

We have a 22" Blackstone we use at home and take camping. It has opened up so many new meal opportunities we never had before and the cleanup us so easy! Check out Blackstone's channel and the Waltwins channel for great ideas and recipes. Our favoirtes so far are smash burgers and bacon-fried corn.

Brad, you should start with the trailer backing by placing your control hand on the bottom of the steering wheel and just move your hand the way you want the trailer to go

Jelly/Jam/Preserves on burgers is next level good. Depending on the flavor, a fried egg on it in addition to the jelly is also awesome

I'm down for an egg my burger, but just haven't acquired the taste for jelly on it.

@@TrailRecon Give it a try with a jelly or preserves you know you like alongside savory. Grape is usually an easy one since people like it on their buttered toast - so if you like that, it will probably pair well on a burger for you. I could see passing on it if all that was available at the time was blackberry. I love blackberry but I know it's a bit of a niche flavor. Jalapeno jam is also bonkers good on burgers

Great video as always, really enjoyed seeing you both at Overland Expo in Loveland. Medano is such a cool tail, glad you got to experience it. For the record, the locals pronounce it Meh-duh-no. Cheers!

Hey Regena, I’ve been told by people more skilled than I to hold the bottom of the steering wheel with one hand and the way your hand goes will be the way the trailer points.

Hi Brad and Vagina. This video is the best have ever done . I am so jealous. I live UK. And must of the the land is Privately owned so we don't get to do much of of roading and camping do without Breaking the law that could end up getting our vehicle taken . be the police .q There were probably own campsites which coat a arm and leg The only exception to this is Scotland where a bit of one camping is permitted but even now they're clamping down.keep on making like this . Ps can you open online store in the UK. It coast 20% taxes us postage and it is Too expensive to buy any of your merchandise Eugene
