High Altitude Overland Adventure in Colorado's Backcountry
Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары
On this next leg of our overland adventure we meet up with some good friends from Ozark Overland Adventures in our Jeep Wrangler and head for the hills to explore Medano Pass and several other fantastic off-road trails high in the Colorado mountains. We’ll get a little adventurous with our taste buds when our friends cook us dinner and, if all goes well, we’ll find some epic campsites and discover some exciting new routes in Colorado that none of us have explored before.

Makes you think 1880s except modern day with Jeeps !! Love this Guys thank you for sharing your adventures!!
I grew up about an hour away from Medano and have really been itching to take the trip over the mountains to the Dunes rather than going around like we always did in my childhood. Beautiful.
Thanks for the awesome video. I am a San Luis Valley native, but I've been living overseas for over 3 decades now. Seeing your video of those places I know so well give me a huge does of nostalgia. Glad you made your way out that direction to enjoy those amazing places.
Great video. I've been following you and Matt for about 2 years now and it's good to see you together. And don't worry Regena, it take practice backing up a trailer but you'll get the hang of it. And short trailers are much harder to back up.
Love it when you team up!
Epic trip - such epic trails & views!
I know this is a year later , and the misses should be backing well by now , however that being said , a little trick I learned when backing short trailers , put the transfer case in low , let the vehicle idle , keep the foot off the throttle as much as possible , computer controlled engines wont stall as easily as the old carb points engines , this allows the driver to keep up with the trailer , use the mirrors as much as possible , and keep all steering inputs small . Enjoy your channel , thank you for letting us tag along
absolutely loved this video ..great adventure with great friends and great places... ❤️
Wow, reminds me of my younger days, 4 wheelin all over; really miss it; and use to eat bison all the time back in the 70’s; loved it and the elk, I like both equally; thanks for the memories 😎😎😎😎👌👌👍👍🤩🤩

The backside of that mtn, not heavily traveled, a great place to go.
2 highlights for me: Regina’s growing comfort with backing the trailer, and Medano pass backwards. Being from Texas, my favorite route across southern Colorado is from the east over Medano pass to the dunes, then to Creede and up the Rio Grande to its source via 520 over Stony pass to Silverton, often taking the side trip to Kite Lake.
Awesome video as usual. Loved the last trail and the epic campsite. Putting it on our list when we visit Colorado.
A tip when reversing with a trailer. When you in a straight line position with jeep , put your hand on the bottom of the steering wheel. Turn then the steering wheel from the bottom grip in the direction you wish the trailer must go 😉
Love all of your video, this one specifically because I was feeling like I am also moving along with all of you!

Awesome video guys!!
Regina is so cool!
That was a great video! Love the content you two! Cheers.
We did the Medano Pass trail as a group coming home to California in 2012 from a two week Colorado trip. On our ADV motorcycles. Seeing that really long creek crossing and all of that sand brought back memories, not exactly good ones! I believe the trail was actually closed and gated for a number of years following a fire and winter erosion damage. Good to see its open and passable again.
Regina, it looks like you already love your Blackstone grill....it won't be long now until you will want a large one for home. Its awesome for when all my kids are home at once, and I can make an entire breakfast for everyone and have it all finished at the same same time. Keep practicing backing up the trailer. Like anything new, it takes a lot of practice. Don't get discouraged. After you become a pro, just think of the funny stories you will be able to tell. Great video guys!!
Welcome to Colorado!

Good music sound track choices. 👍👍
Regina cheat a little…. Grab the bottom of the wheel palm down. If you want the trailer to go left take your hand left Right take your hand right. Small inputs and number one…..nothing fast should ever happen in the cab. Slow is smooth and take your time!!!! Good luck!
Being from South Dakota elk and bison are regular items on the menu! Glad you guys got to have some!
Love your videos! A good tip that I used to help me learn to reverse trailers was to put one hand at the 6:00 position on the steering. If I want the rear to go right, then I steer right. Same for left, of course.
Coming from crowded country like India where camping is almost impossible, I love to enjoy these kind of vidoes
Awesome video and I’m so hungry now.

@@frenchie4wd I have not. I usually like to get out meats from the local butcher. He has not had Elk. I would be "game" for trying Elk. The local butcher had some ground Yak. A little pricey, but good.
Matt and Cara are good people...hopefully you will get to wheel with them in the Ozarks soon. Matt has some amazing campsites and water crossing... not to mention some cool wheeling buddies ;)
Beautiful territories, nice views at camp, and I swear I could almost smell that food cooking! Regina, it looks like you are slowly getting the hang of backing up a trailer. It can be a little like cat herding, I agree. You might try practicing with an empty parking lot and some big, empty cardboard boxes. Once you can get the trailer moving in a straight line, try adding some boxes in a pattern for obstacle avoidance. I trained my daughter this way, in little baby steps, now she can back a trailer up like nobody's business! Good luck, and keep at it. You got this! 👍

Enjoying the video on a nice Sunday morning. 6 day work week this week, so nice to kick back and enjoy.. Family and I have done Medano several times from west to east and east west. Camped and hiked the trails in the area. The hike to Medano Lake was not very difficult and very rewarding once you reached the lake.

@@TrailRecon For sure! Beautiful area and definitely a lot to do. The Sand Dunes are really cool in the spring as the snow melt has the river flowing pretty good in front of the dunes.
Regina don't feel bad about backing up a short trailer with a single axle. They are very tricky to keep straight and react to the smallest steering inputs. 👍😀

Brad, you should start with the trailer backing by placing your control hand on the bottom of the steering wheel and just move your hand the way you want the trailer to go

@@TrailRecon Give it a try with a jelly or preserves you know you like alongside savory. Grape is usually an easy one since people like it on their buttered toast - so if you like that, it will probably pair well on a burger for you. I could see passing on it if all that was available at the time was blackberry. I love blackberry but I know it's a bit of a niche flavor. Jalapeno jam is also bonkers good on burgers

Hey Regena, I’ve been told by people more skilled than I to hold the bottom of the steering wheel with one hand and the way your hand goes will be the way the trailer points.
Epic video Brad, I am also a big fan of Bison
Hi Brad and Vagina. This video is the best have ever done . I am so jealous. I live UK. And must of the the land is Privately owned so we don't get to do much of of roading and camping do without Breaking the law that could end up getting our vehicle taken . be the police .q There were probably own campsites which coat a arm and leg The only exception to this is Scotland where a bit of one camping is permitted but even now they're clamping down.keep on making like this . Ps can you open online store in the UK. It coast 20% taxes us postage and it is Too expensive to buy any of your merchandise Eugene
