Hello I'm a carer for a elderly man who mined here in 1950s he is the only one left alive. He lived in bonsall derbyshire.

Only one left alive? The mine opened In the 60s. I know and work with 4 men who worked here.

I worked watersall.. lady wash.. and sallet hole ...my training officer was Brent Riddley..! And Robert Ridley We worked at Markham Colliery.. Nice times.. Nice to the old place ...strewth ...Rich

My son recently dug up a large piece of fluorite from our garden. We live in County Durham just over the border from the weardale mines in teesdale it ways 9kg blue purple green and white he’s dying to know what it may be worth?😄

Ohhh well that will depend on the quality of the crystals but sounds like a good find ! Could go for up to a £1000 if we talk nice unbroken crystals !

Didn't see anyone with gas monitor or anyone with the slightest mining knowledge stupid place to be and put yourself and maybe mine rescue in danger
