    Yeah but apparently no Marvel fan can admit that the studio was influenced by DC. Even though you could also argue that the MCU wouldn't exist without Nolan's Batman movies since Iron Man was inspired by Batman Begins and that film laid the groundwork for every film that followed.

    +Jordan Loux like speaking of the 9/11 references and the fact that the ultimate vilain is gaining more power as you strike with nukes. The only way to deafeat him being for Superman to take his weakness and stand up. Thus showing Batman that is feeling of powerlessness can be overcome (as for the capitol guy whom is in heaven where he can piss straight). And we won't speak of the ghost thematic since it's too long.

    God was a terrible "father". Hes responsible for loads of wars, deaths, the prevention of scientific progress, etc. Islam, Christianity, other religions; They are all terrible. Although, christianity has gotten better and we have Henry VIII to thank for that. Islam is still stuck in the dark ages though unfortunately. There is only one god, and his name is death and he should be defied.

    PepeTheSupremacist God is us. And the church gave during the middle age a place not to follow during the renascence witch unified the study people to achieve a goal, so maybe there would be no iluminism without the Catholic Church. in the feudalism, decentralization was the word. the only think in common during those times was religion, that avoided wars u wanting or not... every part of history was importance to bring us here and nothing is dispensary. even nazism... I ll let think about that one... and the Holy wars? it was us, not god...haha while we don't t know if he exists it is all our achievement and fault.

    Alexandre Velasco My point is that people do horrible things for their religion. E.g the oppression of women, female genital mutilation, oppression of homosexuals, etc; If you believe its okay to hack off a womans clit in the name of islam or execute a homosexual in the name of christianity then you need to get help or go to prison. Furthermore people shouldnt live their life in fear of gods. People sacrifice alot for their "god". I think that sucks because they are fooled into believing there is some grand afterlife awaiting them, so they never truly live their life.

    BvS is the most underestimated movie of all time. Think of Civil war, no one remembers after few years. But BvS will lead to discussion whenever it come up. That's the beauty of the story teller. Zack is ahead of time. His movies like watchmen, BvS, MoS etc are on of the finest. You need to let the dust go of from your mind think of the world you live in and that exactly what zack shows in his movies by constantly questioning the human morality. This director - Never before, and ever After.

    I agree, though he favors adaptations, Man of Steel and BvS are his own original interpretation of these characters and they fit well into their own mythologies and philosophies that he wants to explore, and I can't remember a superhero movie that is as artistic and philosophical in nature (sure there is some philosophy in Dark knight but not that much), BvS is especially interesting because its one of the oldest themes in heroic literature, or storytelling in general, and that is the conflict between man, his limits and vices, and ideal or evils he projects on gods, whatever gods may be, it incredibly nuanced and deep and even hopeful, and I love it

  • @Bluemew1234

    Actually, you can argue that his style of film making is absolutely garbage very easily. He makes beautiful looking shots, but he can't coherently string them together. Without having something incredibly clear to follow like he did for Watchmen, the movie just comes out terrible. I guess if all you want is some pretty pictures spread out through 2 and half to three hours, he's fine. If you want something with an actual story though, you should probably look elsewhere.

    I wrote a short story, Silvak's Choice, further expands on why heroes become villains or corpses. This film had a lot of similarities philosophically with The Watchmen. But whatever hero goes into a dead, dry place to escape their demons returns to enter into a their original home, finding it much cleaner and cared for, but 7 demons worse than the original enter in also.

    3:13 "The guy has a thing for computer generated muscles." Actually, those blue glowing muscles were the real-life muscles of bodybuilder/fitness celebrity Greg Plitt, illuminated by blue LED lights (with the face of Billy Crudup copy/pasted on and with his voice narrating). Greg Plitt died trying to outrun a train awhile back during a fitness challenge gone wrong, for anyone who wasn't aware. Tangentially, I never _could_ figure out for sure whether the big blue wang was CGI or if it was for-reals - there has been much speculation on the internets though, and it was probably the single most discussed hot-button topic of the Watchmen movie, adding layers of depth that Alan Moore could never have predicted when writing the original graphic novel (...or _did_ he? How prescient _was_ this guy at his peak?)

There was no indication that Clark knew who batman was other than the one part at lex's party and even if everything you said was true it was still stupid for lex to create doomsday knowing he would kill superman. He didn't have a fail safe or a back up plan for when doomsday would be done and continue to fuck shit up.

First Jesus died, but the two thieves weren't dead yet, so Pilate ordered the Roman soldiers to break the legs of everyone who was being crucified then because it was almost time for the Sabbath. When the soldiers got to Jesus, they saw that he looked dead, so one soldier stabbed him with his spear to make sure that Jesus was dead. (John 19: 31-34 MSG)

    Superman stabbing Doomsday is explained in the film. Superman is the only one with the physical strength to penetrate Doomsday's thick skin. You can even see in the film: Superman stabs, Doomsday remains strong enough to stab Superman, and only then can Superman use the additional leverage to drive it deep enough to finally kill him. Batman in no way would have had the physical strength, and it's debatable if Wonder Woman could but since Superman is always shown to be stronger, it seems doubtful.

    This would have been better as a "The Philosophy of". Yes, the sarcastic tone of Earthling works well here, but there was truly nothing "hidden" in what was explained here. We all know the plot, we all know Snyder loves Gods issues and biblical references, we all know math (or do we ?)... Like I said, dig deeper in the biblical stuff and it could have been a great "The Philosophy of Batman V Superman". Still, good jokes during the sum up of the plot. But that wasn't really the subject of the video.

  • @Dashoost

    @Dashoost

    Just because the movie was 180 minutes long doesn't mean it had a ton of meaning... He sums it up at the end by saying they have no way of stopping a money making franchise... That's the point

  • @MrQuelquDeux

    @MrQuelquDeux

    8 жыл бұрын

    Dashoost While I agree on that, I still stand by my initial point that there's still enough to work on a "The Philosophy of". You can even joke about the lack of Philosophy, in said "phylosophic" episode. Because while everything they said was true, none of it was hidden. Quite the contrary, Snyder is very proud of the few messages he tries to play with in each of his movies. So my problem with this video isn't the content. It's great. It's the misleading title. Nothing was hidden here, while they did try to analyze the movie in a funny way, which is what they already do in their other show... That's the point.

    The meaning in the movie Batman v Superman is two things, which Earthling Cinema summed up rather neatly. First, there is the problem of evil; second, there is the greatest gladiator fight in the history of the planet. That's pretty much it, so there's little more to explore here.

    The thing is that even though the movie is based on the comic "The Dark Knight Returns", the roles are kind of swapped as Superman and not Batman is the one with too much autonomy and he "dies" in the end. Also Lex Luthor is there and not some weird mutants who become Batman's apprentices and the golden-age Joker who eventually dies for some reason.

    I wish I hated it because it was cool and not because it was a boring movie. Then I could just watch it and see the superhero movie the fans have wanted for what feels like forever. Unfortunately it's unenjoyable, bleak, black-on-more-black aesthetic was not what I was looking for. Can't wait until Jesse Eisenburg plays Riddler or Joker, since that's the character he portrayed

    +Calebowski 09 The problem is audiences on rotten tomatoes typically look at a night at the movies as an investment due to the ridiculous rising cost of ticket prices, popcorn, etc. If those folks come out of the theater and admit that a movie is bad in any way then they are admitting a fault in their judgment about the investment they just made with no chance of any return. This can all be diverted by simply judging the movie as favorable amongst their peers in social media who are also likely to be involved in the cult of personality that has ensued by the time the first showing on opening night has ended

    This should've been 2 separated movies, Batman vs Superman, and The Death of Superman, because I think there wasn't much time for all of it in one movie, and they could've remake the animated movies to normal movie, the animated movies had pretty good stories and plots.

    Say what you will about BvS but its not a bad film, its a controversial film. If it wasn't then we wouldn't even bring it up every half hour to argue about it. Bad films are forgotten and ignored, they're shunned into obscurity until they cease to exist in the public eye. THIS film and its predecessor Man of Steel still has people talking about them; what they offer, how they compare to older content, what they represent to the viewer. Personally I think they're both works of art and some of Snyder's best work.

    Very interesting video. Zack Snyder's style is very visual, and despite the very poor story telling, his movie didnt deserve so much hate. Some people may not like visual and symbolic movies but we should all respect this artistic choice of snyder's to make a subtle superhero movie.

    I agree, in the end the comics were made just because they wanted to see superman and batman beating the shit out of eachother. This movie seems to be more directed like a comic than any other, dedicating more of his energy to the shot of the moments, like each frame in a panel. That doesn't excuse the bad story telling, but it's what i enjoyed about this movie.

  • @pfl95

    @pfl95

    Subtle? HAHAHAHAHA! He is anything BUT subtle. Symbolism that has nothing to do with plot or story. Watch Ingmar Bergman, Kubrick, or Tarkovskiy. Snyder is nothing but pretentious. He demands us to take the films seriously when the plot and characters are so thin and nothing note of worth happens on screen. 2001 is a film full of great symbolic imagery which are used as tools to tell the narrative. BvS is fucking shite like Brown Bunny had sex with Transformers. BvS, Ghostbusters, Suicide Squad, Indie Day, Central Intelligence, and Neon Bull (another pretentious movie) are the WORST I have seen this year.

    Really? Because no they don't. The type of DC fan who likes this film is the type of DC fan who pops a boner whenever the name "Batman" is so much as mentioned and thinks it's just the greatest when Batman literally became a god for two minutes and don't really care about how many writers tend to turn him into this insufferable Mary Sue because "AH MAH GAHD MAH BATMAN!" Plebs. Casual peasants. People who don't or can't discern between good writing like "Batgirl Year One," "Whatever Happened to the Man of Tomorrow," and "All Star Superman," but love poorly written trash like this, "All Star Batman and Robin," and "Batman: War Games." The type of people who conflate dour, unpleasant, and hollow bullshit with actual depth and maturity just because "it's not for kids." The Iron Giant and The Incredibles were explicitly for kids. Both of these are more mature than ASBaR and War Games, and Batgirl Year One is so much more adult without ever once being a gross experience. Hell, even the people I know who actually like Identity Crisis didn't like this movie. So yeah, not sure where you get your "most DC fans like this" figure, but I don't know a single DC fan, myself included, who liked it. Hell, a guy the likes of which I detailed up there had the softest opinion on it, and he still didn't enjoy anything other than Affleck when he wasn't committing manslaughter.

  • @DeadsvilleFilms

    Cory Tucker Except that's not a theme, it's an empty platitude and a cliché you say to people going through a rough time. Which DC apparently is, what with critical, audience, and box office reception being what it is for the movies so far. And yeah, not all stories make sense and obviously not everyone is going to like any given story. That's not a justification for your story not making sense and thus being *bad*. Yes, not all stories do make sense, but all *good* ones sure as shit do.
