    1:57 I’m having troubles here, I’ve built and rebuilt this thing dozens of times making sure I haven’t done anything wrong but every time the blade hardly ejects. It inner blade will go out about half and inch and just get stuck and I have to push the blade back in. Do you know if this is some kind of sanding problem maybe or is there some step I may have missed?

  • @TheMakuta345

    Yeah it's most likely sanding, even the smallest amount of friction stops this thing working, could also need stronger elastic. I faced a some kind of paradox there. You should use strong enough rubber to make it work against gravity, but then it creates extremly high momentum on the wheel, so its almost impossible to turn it. How do u make it move so easily?=(

  • @TheMakuta345

    @TheMakuta345

    4 жыл бұрын

    You have to find a happy medium honestly, the wheel will always be a little hard to turn but you should be able to do it. The next version should have a lighter blade so you don't need as strong elastic and it should use a spring for the rack which will help too.

    If it doesn't move at all then there's something blocking it, if it moves when pulled but not when using the mechanism then there's too much friction somewhere.

  • @papycoima

    @papycoima

    Sanding rubberbands just brakes them. What is precisely happening? A mistake you might have done is that the rubber band for the 2nd tier blade is too thick and makes a lot of friction with the casing. Try using dental bands and it should be working fine. Another problem is that you didn't set up the locks correctly and they don't catch on the blade when it's retracted, or maybe a print issue made them too small and they don't get contacted by the slider. Last thing that may be stopping the blade is that you sanded down too much at the bottom the kickers (the rubberband loaded parts on the slider). Hope this helps :D

    I'm currently working through a version 2 based on ImDeePain's pulley system blade as I found that the OTF design requires too much maintenance and isn't the most reliable. The upgrades I could make to it would mainly just be to replace elastic with springs to stop the blade needing so much maintenance however it would still have a few issues like gravity and wear and tear. The v2 design is currently at about 30% or so done but I'm hoping to get it done before Christmas.
