One thing about saber slash, the number of monsters you have to remove is not optional, so if you have two X-sabers on the field and they only have one monster you are forced to pop one of your own. I found this out the hard way on duel links.

Here are all of today’s illegal actions/clarifications: 21:28 Phantom of Chaos must banish the target it copies. Didn’t banish Norleras from GY 24:35 Faultroll cannot be “Special Summoned by other ways”. If it said “must first be Special Summoned”, this would work, but sadly this is not how the card works 37:08 Emergency Call cannot be activated if you don’t control an X-Saber 39:52 Airbellum cannot discard a card from the opponent if it does not attack directly

The X-Saber monster doesn't need to be on your control to activate Emergency Call, it can be on your opponent's control. Regardless it's an illegal activation as there weren't any on the board.

The third series is also neat since RJB never really tries to pretend like he is the better one. Watching Gage's frogregression got boring a while ago.

Sealed is the most fun for me, especially tin episodes. Progression is only there to make fun of Gage really. History is solid given that Cimo's opponent isn't a donkey.

@@durgons749 Gage and Alex are similar in skill, it's just that the progression series is luck reliant with what pulls you get. Can't really fault Gage for going against nigh full power blackwings or dual master peaces while also having to worry about Heavy Storm, Snatch Steal, IMP, Raigeki etc for the vast majority of the series.

@@durgons749 You can't compare progression to history. one series has one player missing out on all the powerful dm staples and having virtually no backrow removal the entire series and the other series both players play the top tier decks of similar power with the banlist implemented at the time so no one person has the disadvantage of not having the broken staples.

Watching MBT play X-Sabers is painful.

I mean, we went though a lot since he ever started his series, I am not surprsied anymore ! hell, I renamed the series into the progression misplays, the history of misplays because of the shitty plays of all the episodes...

I actually really liked the Hidden Arsenal sets, along with certain Duel Terminal cards the lore was pretty cool. (Although I got my Duel Terminal cards from a friend by trading, I never saw one of the machines in real life.)

i had one at my locals

24:25 MBT couldn't summon "XX-Saber Faultroll" with "Gottem's Emergency Call", and wouldn't have had lethal. Edit: Gustavo Ramos Plascenia is correct. MBT could've had the same board by Special Summoning the Emersblade and adding the Faultroll to hand instead of the reverse.

I might be wrong but I think Airbellum has to deal damage from a direct attack for it to trigger it's effect.

Another week of not reading cards for their actual effects.

If you have bottomless trap hole, you can always use it VS Lyla without it destroying another card because it's ability has to switch it to defense mode to destroy a backrow. So when Cimo called priority on it's effect, it actually doesn't matter at all.

yes, particularly because the entire GY setup would have been different. The next time he milled he got DAD and Mezuki which eventually allowed the Phantom of Chaos to be live.

So many illegal plays in one episode. This might be the worst episode this far in this regard. Let's see the illegal plays of MBT I can remember: Use Gottom's Emergency Call without a X-Saber on the field. Special summon Faultroll of Gottom's Emergency Call uses Airbellum's effect to discard without directly attacking Did I miss anything?

Worth noting a lot of players from this time were cheaters, and many topping players were banned. So when you see some topping lists take them with a pinch of salt.

That's a great point that was the only thing I hated about this time. Sooooo many cheaters. Made it hard to enjoy playing because there were people out there scummy enough that they can't take a loss

3rd game 2 misplays 1 episode lost by Joseph.

I think MBT is really underestimating how much of an Anti-meta deck Gradius Spaceships really are with T-King Raioh, Oppression, BoM, and Honest. It's a better deck at the time compared to Roy's janky pre-Darksoul X-Saber list. Also, I wouldn't use Roy St. Claire decklists mainly because he was one of the most notorious cheaters at the time.

@@clorkmagnus I know, I like MBT using sack, jank and cheese a lot more than both Cimo and Gage tryharding, but the reason prog outperforms this is because, like you said, no progression. We’ve been keeping up with that one for over a year and there are stakes involved. This is like a commentary for what Yu-gi-oh used to be featuring MBT and jank.

The technical play this episode in particular makes me want to smack my head against the screen.

i am SALIVATING over that zombiesworn list. that was my childhood deck and it's so cool to see it at full power in a real competitive environment. great episode

The only bad thing i have to say about this series is..... I am caught up now and i have to wait a fucking week😂

These decks were both awesome and that game 1 was super grindy right up until the end, also I loved the Ragigura meme

Absolute Powerforce was such an important set to me growing up! My first real introduction to yu-gi-oh was the 2010WC video game. It was my first time having access to all the cards in the game. I would spend hundreds of hours just theory-crafting decks. I'm so glad I get to see the best decks of the format on display!

One of the best games ever. It's honestly why I get mad with konami for making so many crap games afterwards. Those ds Yugioh games had all the cards and would let you download the new sets as they came out. Idk why they just stopped doing that. I loved the game for the switch until they released yet another set and ban list and now my game is out of date and can't play it with significance anymore just a waste of time and money.

MBT activating Gottoms' Emergency Call with 0 X-Sabers on field. Nice. (in other words, Cimo won game 3 way sooner but MBT activated and resolved Gottoms' Emergency Call without either of them noticing you must control an X-Saber to activate the card) "Activate only if there is a face-up "X-Saber" monster(s) on the field. Select 2 "X-Saber" monsters in either player's Graveyard(s). Special Summon those monsters to your side of the field." (which is the version they'd be using, regardless, there were no X-Saber monsters on the field in game 3 when he activated it.)

YEAH SKY SCOURGE! I remember I used to play him in my version of Disaster Dragon and before Effect Veiler I used end matches in 5 minutes.

Gottom's E call couldn't have been activated in game 3 have to have a x Saber on field to activate and resolve gottoms e call, also airbellum has to attack directly to trigger effect and I believe Faultroll can only be summoned by having 2 x sabers on field not by gottoms e call but I might have just thought that happen, x sabers are better later

X-Sabers are still my favourite archetype and deck to this day. Bringing out Hyunlei and nuking 3 backrow was too much fun. I would always play Sabers and my friend would play Lightsworn so this video is like a match between us.

Faultroll's and Emergency Call's Texts: (Says MBT can't do something) 24:31 and 37:05 respectively - MBT: "That won't stop me, I can't read!" 31:17 - The fact that even Cimooooo didn't realize that MBT just sent a monster with 200 ATK to die against his monster with 1000 ATK is pretty damn funny. He could've gotten free damage on MBT if he let it go through and activated Mirror Force after.

Game 3 Corruption of Gamestate Missplays: 1. All Spell/Traps of the X-Sabers arquetype require a face-up X-Saber on the field to be activatable, meaning that Joseph should have taken full direct damage on it's activation instead, unable of using Gottoms' Emergency Call, and have 4100LP remaining, leading to a different gamestate. 2. Cimo forgot to mill during 1 turn with Lyla, meaning he should have drawn the Mezuki instead of Phantom of Chaos, milling the ladder instead, and with him not having the capacity of copying DAD's effect to whipe out the board.

oh god Hidden arsenal released the week of the regional me and my buddy were going to and only store that had it was Walmart. We bought a good amount of this set to get us Catastor, Brionac, and Catastor. We did pull them. I x-4 but my buddy was able to get to top 8.
