Hi-de-Hi! is a BBC television sitcom shown on BBC1 from 1 January 1980 to 30 January 1988.
Set in 1959 and 1960 in Maplins, a fictional holiday camp, the show was written by Jimmy Perry and David Croft, who also wrote Dad's Army and It Ain't Half Hot Mum amongst other programmes. The title was the greeting the campers heard and in early episodes was written Hi de Hi. The series revolved around the lives of the camp's entertainers, most of whom were struggling actors and has-beens.

Loved this program and I still watch it. Rest in peace to the actors and actresses who are not with us but the ones who are with us have not aged one bit 😊 thank you Hi Di Hi for the good laughs you still give me

Ruth Madoc died at 79 (though quoted 72), and ‘Ted ‘ was not the camp owner.
So the opening page to video has a picture of Ruth Madoc on left , any idea what relevance the lady on right is to hi de hi? Lover of this show for many years 😊

Its odd that when Simon Cadell was highlighted a picture of Giles Brandreth was put up.... And i found it incredibly annoying when the voice over kept saying When this character passed away it left us deeply saddened. A bit monotonous after the 3rd time. I lost count how many times he actually said it but nice to see all the characters..

We are not deeply saddened. Most of them were unknowns snd were never successful ever.

Utter cobblers. You clearly didn’t pay attention to theatre or the variety & comedy circuits. If you did you’d know the majority were hugely successful in one or more of those disciplines. Just because someone isn’t alway working in TV & film doesn’t mean they were unsuccessful. All you’ve done is show your ignorance of other fields within entertainment.
