HG P410 F350 look alike RC truck Unboxing

Got the truck from banggood don’t know if it’s a clone sure looks like one, definitely looks like a Highlift from Tamiya minus the price. So far just the unboxing but will extensively mid this and drive this cool looking truck.

These new Tamiya clones from HengGuan really are great if you are a fan of the original Tamiya models but don't like the high prices. Of course they are not without their problems but my HG-P417 (Hilux clone) has exceeded my expectations. You can see my full review and test driving at BlackSeaRC.

BlackSeaRC You are correct, I also like the price point cause spending tamiya money for old tech kinda sucks! I got this one and the Bruiser Clone...I will be doing a nice video on that soon! 👍🏼👍🏼

@@ljhobbylife The P407 is more popular than the P417 so I reckon you'll like the "Bruiser clone". With Tamiya you are really paying a mark-up for nostalgia. Yes, I am a Tamiya fan (and owner of an original High Lift truck) but also I am a RC collector and for the price of an original High Lift or Bruiser I can get something really great with the latest crawling technology. I just bought a new PG4A Adventurer from Cross-RC for example. Really looking forward to getting it built and out on the trails. Best wishes from the Black Sea!

@HGRCTOYS My HG P417 is great fun but I think the P415A is a much more interesting product that I would love to own in the future. How about your military trucks such as the P800 series - do you have any plans to release new models in the future?

You should be able to just switch the two wires coming from the motor to the esc and it should reverse the issue and make the truck run correctly. Hope this helps.

I just got a black one and not really liking it. It makes a lot of gear sounds just rolling it across the table. The bed and cab don't line up too well either. I think I need to send it back. It's really bouncy too. There's no shock resistance at all.

Yeah it does need a lot of mods the original from Tamiya was near the same way, if you open the shocks they have a spring inside and leafs are too stiff, I’ve been modding mine a bunch, gears are real loud too especially in low gear. I bought this for the intensions to mod so I’m not really upset with it and just having fun modding. It’s definitely not up to par with new crawlers or similar scale vehicles, old tech lol. 👍🏼👍🏼

If you remove a leaf from the springs it will make it softer. The Tamiya originals are the same. You could also replace the shock absorbers with proper oil filled dampers. Again, the Tamiya ones are the same. As for gears, I think they take a little bit of time to bed in. Of course it is possible that they didn't put enough grease on the gears when they built it. A lot of people strip them down and rebuild them just to be sure but I didn't bother as it is quite a bit of work. If you check the "functional and operational testing" sections of my video you might be able to compare the noise. As I recall, mine was noisy at first but quietened down after a short run. As LJ_Hobby_Life says, you are getting quite a lot of truck for the money but the design originates from 2006 so you have to expect a bit of old-school tinkering! See BlackSeaRC for my HG in action.

@@BlackSeaRC The cab and bed were not lining up. I remove about an 1/8th of an inch from the post and now the cab and bed seem to line up better. I was testing the radio and truck in the basement with the body off and the truck went wild on me. It hit the the brush guard on the table leg and bent it. I had to straighten it out but it's still bent a little backwards. All the radio gear is junk. I will have to remove everything and install some spektrum stuff with a new esc. I will probably just tear down the entire truck and start from the ground up. You save a little money but is it worth it?

@@RC4X4 I must say I have read a few other comments about the alignment of the body posts being slightly out of position relative to the body. The body mouldings themselves should be okay though as they are taken from the same moulds as the Tamiya truck. That is something you shouldn't have to do yourself though. I guess you got a really early build truck and the assembler wasn't used to building them yet. I had a few quality issues with my HG-P417 too. That's bad luck about your crash. Was your battery fully charged at the time? Someone advised me that the BEC may not be very good on these trucks and that might cause it to lose control when battery power gets low. It might also affect gear shifting. I accept that the electronics are basic but they have worked fine for me so far. If swapping out all the electrics you really are losing a lot of the savings you have made but in the long run I guess it will be more reliable.

@@BlackSeaRC I compared the rear bed mounts to my tamiya F-350 and they are different. Not the same part. The brush guard is different too. I'm waiting to see how much it costs to ship back. If it cost too much I will just take it apart and rebuild it. I did that with the P409. That body isn't the best either. It rolls inward at the bottom. These are cheaper but not really worth it once you have the real deal from Tamiya. I order a new in box of the Hilux made by Tamiya.

hey I just order one ans want to know if tamiya f350 parts fit on it like the foot steps and light covers plus I wantes to change the dampers/shocks do you what they are so I don't order the wrond stuff? Is there a way to lower the truck?

It’s literally a clone of the Tamiya version, that being said I have not tried to install tamiya parts on it, as far as lowering it you’d have to figure out the turn buckle issue, the dampers are the same as original Tamiya they look just like my original bruiser ones!

I recently bought one of the HG-P417 RTR trucks (Hilux High Lift clone) from Banggood. I also ordered a HG battery and HG charger from them at the same time. The truck arrived quickly but the battery and charger took more than a month longer. The details of the battery and charger can be found on my review video and in the description I put some links. Hope to see you at my channel, BlackSeaRC!
