I know that's right because it should be easy to show him some affection. What is she talking about? Even if he is not a.Doctor it would not be hard since it is a natural thing. Especially if you like the person a lot like she said she does. Hmmmm watch out b4 somebody in Steve"s audience tackle the Doctor and really show him some real affection! LOL!!

On second thought it doesn't seem like she is attractive to the Doctor. It is easy to show affection when you are attractive to them. Yes he has a great career with prestige but she does not seem to let that go to her head. I was feeling that it should be easy but you cant say that based on what a person does for their career. You have to be drawn to more than money. That may not be what she is interested in altogether. And she wants to feel chemistry on a deeper level not the visual of what he can buy for her materialistically.

@Natasha Williams clearly it made no sense to you. 😂 Oh. Well such is life. You are right that you're assuming I'm bringing gender into this. When that was one of the furthest things from my mind. It's all just perception of each other's statement sense you see it as me being off topic and I get where you're coming from when you say I spoke as though we spoke about those things. So you are correct in that regard. My comment plain and simple was aimed at the whole idea, that display of affection is affected by upbringing. Though we didn't discuss what I spoke about. The basis still stands. At least I think so. 😕

@Natasha Williams ok. So most times people go into talks with some kind of preconceived notion. So it affects how we approach things one way or the other. You could try to curtail it but ultimately that's just how it is. Unless some how you perceive exactly where that person is coming from.

I love affection. I cannot get too much. There is probably a reason she feels that way. She needs to explore that and deal with it. Otherwise, doctor or not, maybe he is not the one for her, because people that love affection don’t feel that they are in a relationship without it. It’s that important.
@prncessbaby16
5 жыл бұрын
There probably is a reason she feels that way yes, but some of us aren't affectionate people no matter how hard we try, because that just isn't our love language. Steve says don't blame her parents, but if she didn't experience it growing up, it may come as strange or odd to her. I feel the same way but my husbands love language is physical touch so I try to be more affectionate but he knows it's just not something I personally like and that's ok. Doesn't mean I don't love him.
@fayepatrice1672
5 жыл бұрын
@@prncessbaby16 If you are able to overcome it to give him what he needs, that's great for you guys. As an affectionate person whose husband was not, I feel that that was a major problem in our relationship.
@prncessbaby16
5 жыл бұрын
@@fayepatrice1672 thank you. I feel like the least I can do is compromise a little. It's not the end of the world if he wants to cuddle or wants one extra kiss. I can tolerate it but when I'm feeling like it's affection overload, I let him know in a nice way I can't handle anymore and he understands. He said he just appreciates that I even try to be more affectionate because I know that's his love language. You can't love a person the way u want to love them, you need to love them the way they need to be loved I believe. It sucks that your husband didn't realize that. I'd rather give my husband affection instead of strain the Marriage over something so simple that could eventually lead to divorce. I'm not going to melt or my skin won't peel off if I cuddle with him lol. Yeah it's hard being affectionate for me, but like Steve said, she can still try and she can let her boyfriend know when it's getting too much at that moment for her.

I disagree with Steve. If you were not raised around or shown how to be affectionate, there isn't just some switch you can flip to go opposite. You can see that clearly with her when doc put his arm around her @ 1:42, it is EXTREMELY awkward for her to receive affection.

Was looking for a comment like this. I completely agree with you.
I was just like her when I started dating in my twenties. I wasn't raised being affectionate either. By the time my parents tried to incorporate affection (huggs/I love u's/etc.) it was too late. It was awkward receiving it by them (in my late teens to early twenties). Which followed into my dating life. However, over time it improved... I'm talking many many years. At 40, there are still moments where it can feel awkward... Especially during initiation!!! But I come to find, the right person brings it out naturally. Now I find myself asking, "Is it too much?" because he's NOT use to affection... Go figure😌😄.
Amen. That was a hallelujah moment Steve. Doctor!! Oh Doctor !!. 😂😂
That was the most epic Steve Harvey moment towards the end!!!!
I used to be the same way lol but if you love him enough you will become affectionate for sure! Steve a fool though😂😂😂 my brother probably still got student loans

😭🤣😂 can’t stop laughing! Definitely one of my favourite Hey Steves
She's probably uncomfortable being affectionate right now. But I think she'll learn from Steve's piece of advice.
That was hilarious 😊😊😉
He had a momemt 😂
I don’t blame her. Not everyone is comfortable being physical. It just takes time. Doesn’t matter if he’s a physician or not
Artist + Doctor = You Can Never GO broke lol
She gonna lose him. All its gonna take is for one woman to look him in the eyes while he's feeling lonely and tell him that he's the greatest man she's ever known. He'll be out of that female's reach the very next day. But I think its for the best. If she's that distant with a man who loves her, she just need to be by herself. He's a doctor. He'll find another woman in *NO TIME*
This couple is just darling! I love Steve's advice and he's so genuine. xo
She's not blaming her parents she's acknowledging that there's a mental block bc of not being around affection and when she tries things feel awkward.
It’s not in my nature to be affectionate either and any time I initiate it, I feel hella awkward 🤷🏼♀️

Then you must get with a similar person. To be a naturally affectionate person and being with someone who isn't, is hell. I once had a boyfriend like that. I would call him cold fish. He would only touch me when he was horny. That experience taught me what I needed in man. I crave affection. I kiss and hug up on my children freely. My husband does the same.

Good way to learn
I LOVE steve and his advice are usually solid but not today. The power of the mind works on everything EXCEPT trauma... you can't heal illnesses from power of positivity... and coming from a broken home is surviving trauma.... people who had a poor image of marriage or saw abusive/toxic marriages from their parents become TRAUMATIZED. I come from a broken home, my father had multiple affairs, we all knew including my mom and she stays thinking it's "for us"... they never curse or hit but they bicker A LOT,,, there's NEVER affection or romance between them it's like a boring routine room-mate relationship.... my parents never told us they loved us or owned up when they did something wrong and because of that we all had issues apologizing after messing up or saying "i love you"... till this day i can't say i love you but i'll show it in actions... it's not going to be fixed from "positivity"...i had to swallow my pride to apologize after mistakes so i don't lose people i care about and taught my damn self to express my feelings more but it's still hard. please understand in cases of kids with broken families it's not gonna be fixed this easily and this is a poor advice.
@ohheyitssoumy5959
5 жыл бұрын
An actual helpful advice for this woman is: 1)baby steps... try one affectionate comment/gesture a day and it will eventually become a habit it may take time but it'll get more comfortable for you 2)if you're not already try talking to a professional about how your parents' marriage made/makes you feel bc it's the source of the problem and still affecting your current relationship(s) 3) don't compare yourself to your partner or other people who had different experiences bc that makes it worse... understand that you're different people with possible different love languages and it can still work but you'll BOTH need to understand and speak the other person's love language... 4) her partner needs to only be more supportive of her trying and understand she had a traumatic experience as a kid with poor example of a relationship so it's not as easy for her and if he cares for her he needs to be supportive of that 5)keep a journal on you and write down how you feel if it's hard to vocalize it just start with getting it out of your system through letters/diary then slowly start with talking in front of a mirror then to someone (your spouse)

True but let’s be honest...your only seeing it from a woman’s side just because Steve took the guys side on this one...😂😂😂 for example...what if a guy wasn’t showing his woman affection because of “traumatic experiences” EVERY GIRL WOULD SAY “LEAVE HIS ASS!!!” And you wouldn’t think twice to hear him out on his “traumatic experience “ of why he’s not showing his wife/girlfriend affection lol but as soon as the roles are reversed and Steve takes the guys side “ STEVE YOUR WRONG YOU SHOULD BE UNDERSTANDING SHE HAD TRAUMATIC EXPERIENCES!! 🙄😂😂😂😂

5 жыл бұрын
@@hawaiianrussian1047 no that's not true at all, anyone who thinks this way doesn't understand what its like coming from a broken home or isn't mature enough to be supportive regardless of. like i said,i come from a broken home and it made me fearful of relationships/marriage... i don't want kids bc i don\t want to end up like my folks. the last guy i dated had the exact same experiences, same issues with family and he was also broken bc of it but it made me like him even more, that he gets it... we talked about personal things we wouldn't usually share and it bonded us further. if your partner knows your past and uses it against you or doesn't at least TRY to be understanding and supportive then they're not the one for you.
@christianone6611

@@ohheyitssoumy5959 I get what you're saying and the advice you gave is great advice for the abused. The problem is that for someone who came from a healthy affectionate happy home...they can demonstrate what healthy looks and feels like. They can be patient to an extent... But if you can't jump on board the happy healthy train while it has pulled into your station...it WILL eventually go away cuz healthy people don't want to turn into dysfuctional people by staying with unhealthy people that won't change. Yes, it's scary... But ya ain't gonna die from a hug, or love. You survived hell on earth but the real test is can you leave it behind and enjoy heaven when it is offered. I dated 2 dudes from unhealthy childhoods that were marriage material but couldn't let go of their old mindsets to embrace happy change. My parents were happily married and madly in love for 65 years. I totally knew the ropes of how to have a healthy dynamic but whenever the bf would start to veer us toward hell, I would redirect toward a heavenly type of approach and they would not listen or change. They tried yelling and screaming insults instead of trying the calm, kind, positive communication that I was demonstrating. So I had to cut 'em each loose even though I cared...or we BOTH would have been living in hell and not just one of us. Point: Change the mind as Steve says and jump on healthy mindsets and people when they come...or they will soon be gone.
🤣😂🤣😂 I'm convinced something is wrong with Steve!!! I'm over here crying!!!😭🤣😭😂

@4:04 where the organ player steve harvey done turned into revereand harvey
Some people tend to think you're being weak when you show affection and others grew up in families where they were not shown displays of affection like hugs, kisses, and affirmations. It's completely foreign to them. Whatever the case may be counseling can help and allowing yourself to be loved by someone who is patient and loving enough to show you helps too. Usually women tend to put up with not receiving the affection back that they give so it's interesting to see a man going through this. l'm really impressed with brotha man and l am happy for her. He seems like he really loves her and is willing to work through this. A man has to really love you in order to be patient like this. Looks like you got a keeper girl! l pray everything works out for them.

Either she's not attracted to him, or she doesn't like to be touched. It sounds weird but I actually have an acquaintance who told me that she would cringe at the thought of being rubbed or caressed. She loves her husband very much. I'm a massage therapist, regardless of it many benefits, there are people who hate to be massaged as well. Its unfortunate.

@herkeda I dont know, but anything is possible. Whatever it is, it's not normal. 🤷♀️ Her husband is not very understanding of her loss for affection. I hope they seek counseling or something.

I don't know why but I got the feeling that she was not attracted to him.
This was just simply the best 🤣😂☺ Steve had to bring the audience back the woman was like hey I gotta hug in kiss for you Dr. Lol the best... let the church say Amen!!!!!!!
I know where she is coming from. My childhood was without bugs and kisses for my mother. I grew up in a single-family home so I did not know what a relationship looked like. Forever when I became an adult and had my own children I chose to break that cycle by hugging them and letting them know that I love them daily. This can be done. It does feel awkward though.
Steve, you are "stupidly funny" and ironically that's intelligent! :-))
Steve is over here preaching to women all across America with this one 😂😂
“He happy with you!” I love how Steve just loves to speak his gangster English as a tribute to his roots.😂
Steve got me in tears. 😂😂😂😂😂😂
At 2:35 it sounds like someone called her stupid and Doc immediately turned around like he was ready to defend his boo! Girl you better hug 🤗 and kiss 😘 that man! Use the app called “love nudge”! It’s actually very helpful for couples especially those with this problem!

I said it but I don't think they heard me from the TV screen.
Yes yes she will get it soon enough. I hope! She's just so independent that she can only see her forrest before the trees. He has to present to her that he can help make it more greener. That's what it takes for a woman who has been the Ranger over her Forrest.
Who knows maybe that’s why he so crazy about her...cuz she’s not over praising him, or not too crazy about him... once the woman gets crazy about the man, he starts acting up... a whole lot of us showed plenty of affection and the man still left. Clearly, he loves her for her.
Steve took us to church! Lmao 😂
When he first put his arm around her and she patted his chest. When she said, "That's why I'm tryin to be affectionate!" after he said he's a doctor. This girl ain't into this man! He needs to find a woman who actually loves him for him! Gold diggers are gonna be all around him!

You hit the nail right on the head my friend!!!! If you love him or her, you're going to be affectionate point blank. The doctor obviously loves and cares for, but she's not showing it back in return. I say this, I'm moving on and goodbye lol! There's a thing called appreciation here and she's not showing it. This is exactly why SOME black men choose to date white women. I'm not saying that all my black sista's are like this at all, but some just don't realize it when they've been blessed with a man who is hard working, has a great reputation, good qualities, educated, handsome, comes from a great family, loves God, and has morals and values. Like I stated before, she's elsewhere doc! She doesn't even realize that she has a Boaz right before here eyes for God sakes! Maybe if she ran upon a bozo that's not about anything, It'll probably change her tune??? I would've dipped along time ago man lol! A man wants his woman to be affectionate period!

We should also be thankful that the doctor likes black women
I ain't gonna be in no relationship where there is no affection!!
Steve!!! You're the best!
I feel sorry for that doctor it’s obvious she’s not attracted to him but is attracted to his profession and the stability it offers. SMH 🤦🏾♂️ poor dude.
They actually look good together.
When he said absolutely, i had tears in my eyes.
You already asking the question means you are already affectionate my beautiful sister.
If Steve open a church I'll go

Steve knows a lot about church. His mother was a Sunday School teacher for 30+ years before she passed away.
Society treat doctors like they are all great people.
It’s the “won’t you come” for me🤣🤣🤣
Let the church say amen😂😂

I get the changing of the mind idea, but please believe what we see and don't see growing up plays a GINORMOUS role in the way we behave as adults. Let's not get it twisted.
