Thank you Peter, that was a great tutorial and will be very useful for my projects. I'm certainly looking forward to learning more with you on jewelery. Gonna practice this until it sticks. :)

I just want you to know that when I started I would come home from work and spend about 60 to 90 minutes a day playing around. I did that five days a week or so. And within 30 days I could knock IDD a ring in 30 minutes. Keep going. It gets a lot easier

Love your tutorials man! It sucks how quickly they can get outdated though, I can see a big difference in the way you did things just two years ago vs your most recent blender videos, because of new tools/add-ons/updates. But they are all very useful regardless. Thanks man!

@@watchesandjewelry Hi there, you said meters translate to millimetres? So your making a 2mm ring or do you need to change the dimension to 20meters? Cant i just type mm in the units instead of m?

Oh my! I’m so glad I found your channel I’ve been wanting to design jewellery in blender for so long are you going to create any addon packages?

I'm in the process of creating up to 500 items that can be built on and used for "findings", "rings", etc... I'm not going to create a modeling platform... I'm actually editing part three now, and it will appear shortly. Modeling in Blender is actually quite easy... You just have to ignore all the other stuff...

Just so you are aware, there is a significantly easier & faster way to get the ring shape, you don't need bools. You can enable looptools addon and use inset and looptools -> bridge(or loft).

Hi Peter. At 3:37 you're talking about the squares as meters but then there's a jerk and you talk about millimeters. If each square is a meter and the measurements show 'm' how is each square then a millimeter? I thought I'd have to set measurements to mm?

In cad, it really doesn’t matter especially when using the metric system. Although I do cover this conversion in the video. For instance blender by default uses units. The conversion would have been a division and scale by factors of 10, 100 etc. in other videos I cover how to set up blender to work specifically with millimeters and then you will have no conversion as your model is made to size.

Basically, in Blender it's meters, but in the 3d printing software, it's millimeters. I'm not sure if this is true, but I think that's what Peter was trying to convey.

Please watch my videos setting up blender to work in millimeters. It helps a lot with any design. You can also make templates to load to work in any dimension you wish

@@watchesandjewelry Ouch, that sucks. However, the *video* actually skips, not just the audio. It goes from creating a cylinder to showing it on it's side without the actions you took to get it there.

Dont try blender for jewelry or any design needed to be 3d printed. It's not just a good idea. Stl export from blender will not fully carry what you designed in blender into other 3d printing softwares.
