I won't buy big keys at shows like this. The dealers bought them during the comic boom and want to charge prices that no longer reflect the market. $65,000 for that Tales of Suspense #39 is ridiculous now.

Agreed, especially when #39 in an 8.0 is now valued at $33,000. Near 50% above FMV. Ridiculous!

The 100 Page Super Spectacular #4 for $150 (if my old eyes are reading it right) @ 3:44 is a great deal. I know its hard to tell but it looks in great condition. BTW Im sure people have said this but you are so lucky to have a father around to go to cons with like that. He seems like a great dad.

You have to talk I've seen books way over priced also and you say to the seller you are very high on this book if you work a more realistic price I'd be interested in buying it . If they aren't receptive you say have a good day and you move on.

Was there all weekend. Basically ignore whatever prices are on the book. Start conversations with dealers, haggle and you’ll get to real reasonable prices.

Dude if a dealer had a book that is 2k and it sells for $800 as stated on GPA it’s so far off it’s not even worth starting a conversation in my opinion and if he does come down from a 2k book to $800 by some miracle then he’s a their waiting for his prey and I won’t do business with those ppl

I was at a flea market and guy had a raw mid grade avengers 47 for $350. Mid grade CGC 7.0 sold for $85. I told the guy “I’m interested but this price is way off last sales.” We pulled up eBay and gocollect. I got it for $50. Sometimes people have so many books that they can’t price correct it all? Seller didn’t seem like an a$$ which is why I talked to him before negotiating.

Trekked from Detroit to Charlotte. Attended Saturday and Sunday. The guy you bought the ASM#50 from is Matt. He's from Michigan and a great guy to work with. He sets up at Motor City Comic Con too. Picked up an X-Men#1 from Ted at Super World Comics. Great guy to buy from also. Definitely an excellent show for people interested in books but I was disappointed not seeing a whole lot of slabbed high grade silver age DC like: Showcase 55, Strange Adventures 205, Green Lantern 7, 8, 59 and many more. Went after some big books but a common problem I ran into was "the book was on consignment" and the seller said the owner had it priced over FMV. I had several vendors tell me "you don't want this book its way over priced". Tried to pick up a high grade Action #242 but the consigner wanted 64% more than it was purchased for 3 months ago.

Always appreciate your honesty. I feel like the big box dealers sit on their laurels. It's lazy selling. They just want to prey on people like it's 1985 prices. Not cool to your consumers.

I went on Sunday and found that was the best day to wheel and deal with comic dealers. I actually got quite a few decent deals, some right at market value. There was a booth along the wall that had everything marked at below GPA prices and I was blown away by it.

I also picked up Batman 227 recently (last week) after being on the list for years. Tough book with that black cover! Nice pick up bud, I love that your dad is into the hobby with you thats awesome.

Great video! I love that you and your dad can enjoy the hobby together and have a good time checking out books, that’s really special to be able to do. I’m going to Terrificon in August and I’m not looking forward to the “con prices” but I’m hoping I can find some stuff for decent prices. I don’t get the dealers who price things so high, I think they honestly don’t want to sell unless a sucker comes in and pays way over market value.

I went to my first big con this year. I had an amazing time at C2E2. But after watching your vlog, I think Heroes Con is my next one. I think it would be the best place to get books to fill in the gaps in my collection.

Age before youth, dealers know that the elders have the cash to spend, whilst some of the youngsters like to look, perhaps thats why they made a bee line for pops.

I have my own price in mind on what a book is worth to me. I don't waste energy haggling, the book is worth what I wanna pay, if I'm unsure on the value I will reference the market or I walk away... I have many things I try to accompliah at cons and haggling over a handful of books is not one of them. Someone said 100 comic book venders were there. Move on, better prices are there.

Heroes isnt like other con. Prices are amazing there. Moat dealers do not change their price tags between shows, thats impossible. Overwhelming open to wheel and deal and look uo fmv with shoppers. I scored mumtiple big keys fornwell under fmv with little to no effort. I do it every year. Glad tall had fun. Dont waste time on the couple venders that are out their mind.

First time watching your channel and totally agree about Heroes Con, it’s by far the best con for comic collectors. As far as prices, it did seem like it was hard to find decent deals and I unfortunately got in a bit of an argument with a dealer that was a total dick. Either way I would take that over San Diego 1000%

Saw that guy with the first iron man for $65k at the Cleveland Fanexpo. Checked the price and its selling for around $30k

I was surprised to see so many high value raw books in those short boxes at the beginning of the video. Most of those would normally be on display at a booth. Of course, the prices were unrealistic. I avoid cons for that reason. I occasionally go to get witnessed autographs and admire some of the grails in person. It’s too easy to get caught up in the sights and sound of a convention.

the enemy ace and the showcase enemy ace covers are the best ones to me,...that batman book is nice,...those dealers are paying such high prices for booths im sure they got to try and make it up somehow,....

I found two dealers that had Thor 337 around $80 for a raw book none above fine. Almost everyone else had it at $150-200 which may have been the price 2-3 years ago. It was disappointing.

I understand in your case you’re trying to get more footage, but as soon as I see wild prices, I bounce on to the next vendor immediately. Heroes had some wild, wild prices, but I managed to find some excellent deals. My friend and I got lucky and picked a good first booth.

Goose, did you buy anything from Bedrock City? That's really the only legitimate LCS we have here in Houston and if you want to pay comic boom prices for anything, that's the one to go to. I've asked to look at wall books and when I offer them last sale prices or 12-mo avg price from gp analysis, they either snicker or laugh and put it back on the wall.
