HermitCraft S9#17: Decked Out - Phase 4: Deck Building Time

Ойындар

In Phase 4 of Decked Out we focus on getting many more new uncommon cards to fill out our 40 slot deck. We also push the dungeon to see how greedy we can get on runs and what kind of risks we can take running deadly difficulty.

    appreciation comment for etho's editing choices. everyone knows he could just dump like 8 hours of unedited run footage and people would watch but I'm already noticing that the cuts are such a good balance between minimal interruption and eliminating dead time

  • @WoobyMe

    @WoobyMe

    Exactly this. He goes through a lot of effort to add that value by finding the right balance. My first thought when I saw the length, "whoa- the editing time..."

  • @TheMattSturgeon

    @TheMattSturgeon

    Was thinking exactly this. Some hermits post fully-uncut runs, some post only highlights, but etho has found a great balance where we still see full runs, with only the dead time cut out (waiting for regen, climbing stairs & ladders, etc)

    I was a bit confused by Nimble Looting, but then the run during 2:10:50 gave a good demonstration. Every time Etho blocks clank (the tip toe sound plays) he gains +2 treasure. This will continue until he runs out of clank block and generates actual clank. With the right deck it can last a very long time. Etho activated Nimble looting on level 3 and it's still active as he escapes the dungeon.

For it to be worth it, Tango (with freecam admittedly) + his extra stuff have to provide more value than Etho doing another run on his own (which, importantly, gives him 4 more card options). I'm not confident that's the case, especially since Tango isn't that great at playing Decked Out 2. Honestly, having seen the lackey runs, I think more hermits would buy Lackey if the lackey was Etho (without freecam, maybe even without the extra items)! 1:34:11 I also agree that Nimble Looting is a great card, however it really needs a deck and playstyle tailored to it, for it to truly shine. With no additional clank blocking allowing it to chain, it provides 4 treasure and 1 clank block, which isn't _that_ bad. Getting it to chain for as long as possible requires either massive amounts of clank block, or sneak a lot when you're low on clank block, or some combination of the two. Also, I believe multiple Nimble Lootings played will cause the effect to stack, however I would verify with Tango and not rely on random KZread comments. Also, make sure to notify Tango that Nimble Looting didn't provide the original +2 treasure or the +1 clank block, there are many of the more complex cards that probably should have had more QA/QC. edit: that said, given that the current meta is to sneak in level 3, you build up a lot of clank block down there, so if a Nimble Looting is drawn before then, it'll generate a ton of treasure on your way out, as done in your last two runs.

    Somehow, Etho has befriended the Wardens as well as the Ravagers, there has been TWO points where it was literally 3 blocks away.. How does this man do this??!

    Hope to see at least one lackey run next week 😁😁 Tango did such an amazing job this season, DO2 is the best thing ever that happened in Hermitcraft, possibly even the best creation ever done in Survival Minecraft ever!! And seeing Etho run this game with such mastery is just a treat, I could watch this for hours and hours...

    Hey Etho, I don't know if any hermits have tentative plans on what they do in the next season, but I think teaming up with Tango on some projects would be really fun. I know he will want to do more collab stuff after a year of building Decked Out alone underground.

    Etho! With the new auto crafter, you could adapt the nexus so it outputs just a single item, instead of a stack, and include an "order" system, using the hexadecimal codes. For example, set up a chest with all the codes for the itens you need in the right order to auto craft something. You could also establish a configurable loop, so the nexus outputs those itens an Y number of times, always in the order defined. This way it is not necessary to store some itens anymore, since the nexus will autocraft them.
