BUT this would be a perfect opportunity for a second channel, a channel that etho can post any video that wouldn't cut it for the main channel for what ever reason. and since it's a second channel, no one care if he doesn't post anything on it for 2 years, since it's just a bonus.

    I think it was a good idea to prioritize cards in the first phase. If you have the best deck after week 1 then you’re most likely to win week 2

  • @hitman09009
    @hitman090097 ай бұрын

    Hey Etho, don't forget that just because you choose medium or easy difficulty doesn't mean you can't go down to the lower levels. The loot table is better the lower you go, regardless of difficulty (difficulty only changes your compass location). So choosing medium, or even easy, to secure an artifact then going to lower levels to fish for better loot may be a viable strategy. Especially if you're building a infinite shard(key) deck. Looking forward to more runs, and keep us in the loop regarding your strategy!

  • @andrewfecik1925

    @andrewfecik1925

    7 ай бұрын

    Also Talking Strategy, I think overhalling your number of cards until you reach 40 will decrease the number of stumble cards that play (until after the 40 are played) That way your clank will go up slower and you can get more loot. That being said I think the treasure build makes the most sense to buy more shards and then If you play lvl 1 more its better to win with less shards and more crowns than go lower to get more shards but likely less crowns (because you will be more distracted just getting the compass). As well on the lower levels you are more likely to die and get no crowns. So as boring as it sounds playing it easy and just going loot heavy on lvl 1 is probably the best strategy.

  • @Klffsj

    @Klffsj

    7 ай бұрын

    @@andrewfecik1925 Respectfully, I disagree with the strategy to keep it easy. Winning all of Decked Out requires Victory Tomes, which cost Frost Embers. Frost Embers are gained by getting Artifacts, and the value of Artifacts is determined by the level you're on. So, the harder the difficulty, the more likely you get a better Artifact, which means you get more Frost Embers to buy more Victory Tomes and better cards (to better survive the harder difficulty). If Etho doesn't pursue harder difficulties, I don't think he'll be able to keep up with all of the high rewards other Hermits are getting. (Plus, I think we'll all be a bit disappointed. After all, this is ultimately a game first and foremost meant for everyone's enjoyment and entertainment. The competition is just a little extra spice, so I think Etho should focus on having fun, including the competitive strategy aspect.) You do make a good point that it may be a bit harder for Etho to collect Crowns when he's unfamiliar with the area the Artifact is in. But, I think that just means that Etho's going to have to play harder levels more to learn them so he can collect Crowns and other Treasures more effectively. The sooner he learns a level, the more he can optimize how he plays that level, and the better he can do. It may also be worth exploring Level 2 more even when he's collecting a Level 1 artifact.

  • @strawberryfields5872

    @strawberryfields5872

    7 ай бұрын

    @@andrewfecik1925 I agree you also make some good points, however I think it's important to note the sheer difference in value of artifacts, and that securing marginally more embers in a single run can get Etho some super beneficial cards, or a large number of Victory tomes. Personally, I feel the best strategy will be finding the right middle ground where you can collect higher value artifacts with a decent escape rate, and build your deck around getting as much treasure as possible before, after, and inbetween getting the artifact and escaping.

  • @andrewfecik1925

    @andrewfecik1925

    7 ай бұрын

    I agree that he will eventually have to go lower, however what I’m saying is with more treasure cards he will be able to get infinite runs (8 crowns is a free run) so if he loads up on treasure and gets 9 crowns (or more) a few times then he can push deeper for ‘free’ with the extra crowns. Etho is already getting 6 and 7 crowns on some runs with only a few treasure cards imagine if he had a 40 card treasure deck he could get 14+ crowns in a run

    52:27 You can't see it from Etho's POV, but if you watch Tango's VOD of this run you can see that at the exact moment where Etho decides to play it safe and not go for those coins, the pistons in this hallway slam shut exactly where he was standing. You can hear the pistons firing like the exact frame that he turns away lol. thats what tango is talking about at the end of this run.

    I think you should run hard levels, you have a better chance of receiving crowns instead of coins in lower levels. A fun little calculation: if we disregard the time it takes for the shop to reset we can say that the average number of frozen embers that you get per run equals 8 crowns since a shard/key costs 8 crowns. You get on average 15 embers per run so crowns are worth approximately twice as much as shard. This will be true even more so in later runs as you start to get more and more embers per run. I could also calculate later whether a treasure hunter card is worth more than an ember seeker but I don't know the exact probabilities of getting a coin/key/crown etc.

    personally, I like the strategy you discussed with Tango of "infinite shards" as you put it, so if you are able to get it I think it'd be fun to see you do mediums until you feel like you get them every time even on lv 2, then go for hard until you feel you make it every time... and so on. That said do what feels fun for you, and we'll enjoy it nontheless

    Hi Etho! IMO you don't need to edit the runs as it's nice to see you getting more familiar with the dungeon, as well as how you move around the ravagers and sort of note / discover their locations. But if you do decide to edit them, could you add a 'run counter', please? Hypno does this and it's pretty neat, how you can easily navigate if you are looking for a specific play / clip or simply want to see the progress!

    I think hard runs are definitely the play going forward. Because of the way that 2 20 ember runs are usually less useful than 1 40 ember run and a fail, a higher risk/reward playstyle should give some better deck improvements. You'll also have a much better chance to find secrets in unexplored level 2 areas for assorted bonusses

    I'm gonna put some of my thoughts on your question on doing hard runs here while keeping it spoiler free from stuff you don't already know which I might have seen on Tangos stream or otherwise:) Going for hard runs is probably a good idea if you're comfortable on level 2 (meaning being able to know your way out and where you can get away from ravagers in a pinch.). The reward of the artefacts is much greater (and more crowns!) and you mostly won't have to deal with wardens as it's still a 7/8 chance of being on level 2. The early runs might be a bit rough due to the lack of deck power and map knowledge but I figure that will become better over time. I'm gonna discuss what I think might be the biggest risk factors below: **Ravagers** To me it seems that being aware of the ravager locations will be paramount to success in DO2. On level 2 there is much more open space and fewer ways to lose a ravager through line of sight, so locating and avoiding them seems like a good strategy -- perhaps even relocating some when you've identified places they are easy to lose and won't be in the way. Also the parkour there is brutal, so being able to take your time on the trickier of the parkour sections is going to be nice. Aka when you're not being chased by a ravager. Set up your level 1 ravagers before going into level 2. Having a clear path out before entering level 2 is likely a good call when you have picked up your level 2 or 3 artefact and your're on way out with close to max clank. That way you won't lose your run to unfortunately placed ravagers when outrunning the vex army. Learning the zoning on the ravagers is going to be an advantage, some ravagers might see you but if you know the zoning you might be able to ignore some that are in a different zone than you. **Map layout** Learn the map layout on max hazard asap. That way you know the best way out in any given situation without accidentally running into a dead end with a ravager on your tail. Also if you are aware of the ravager locations on each floor it will also help your routing. This seems to be especially crucial on level 2, as there are way more ways in than out without jump boost. These one might be obvious but attempt to learn which locations have multiple levels as this will help with artefact locating. Also treasure spots. **Level 3** Yeah, we haven't seen this yet here! Maybe go into a test world and play around with wardens a bit to learn their behavior. Speed, screech range and how they traverse different terrain I guess Good luck man!

    Hey Etho, I just wanted to say thank you for being a huge inspiration over all the years I've watched you. I discovered your channel when I was 6 years old around episode 200 of your single player series; now, I'm 18 and about to start my first year of university. The phrase "Minecraft done technical" didn't really make sense to me as a small kid; as far as I was concerned, I was just watching Minecraft Let's Plays. But, those early videos I watched for hours and hours, of you tinkering and experimenting, fiddling and farting, if you will, showed me what I could do if I saw the world "technical"--- if I thought like a scientist and engineer. More than a decade of watching Minecraft scientists like you, Doc, Mumbo, and countless others later, I'm following in your footsteps and becoming something of a scientist myself. I'm studying biomedical engineering, or "biology done technical." The ways you taught me to look at redstone circuits I use to understand metabolic pathways and enzyme chains. How you'd isolate and analyze game mechanics showed me how to control for variables when designing experiments with genetically modified cell cultures. It's something no one could've imagined about a block game 12 years ago and still hard for tons of people to wrap their heads around now, but Etho, you're inspiring a new generation of scientists and engineers, one slab at a time. Thank you.
