HermitCraft S9#10: Alien Insides

Ойындар

This episode is too long! Today we check out the interior building style for the alien/organic base. We make some music with Zedaph that absolutely blasts. We check out some new features with the big boat race. Then it is Total Chaos time as we face Beef in the quarterfinals of the TCG tournament.

My personal observations is that Etho gets too anxious during limited life, while as we saw here he just goes all in and manages to win. This is made even worse by Etho always second guessing whether it's fair game and he should engage or not - other hermits just do it, not Etho! Of course, in limited life he is also using the axe and weapons he is not good/familiar with, which is also pretty bad.

I was already in love with the style of your base before you could say: “it might take a while to get used to it” The warped logs are perfect. While I am on my phone, and it might be because I was taking in the rest of your build, I didn’t notice until you pointed it out. After you did, I fully took it all in on the next shot you had with a wider view of the build. They look amazing there, adds a lot of character with a subtle shimmer. Absolutely take note of that block combination.

Hey etho! You mentioned wanting some movement in your base and that there aren't a lot of blocks with an animation in the game. I thought that maybe you could add an aquarium of sorts on a wall since seagrass and kelp both have pretty noticeable movement. And I'm pretty sure that that with an endstone background would also fit your colour pallet.

"This episode is too long!" no it isn't :D i love how your base is looking! i really adore how the mud+warped stems look! even before you pointed the mud+warped stems out i spotted it in the background and got excited over how cool that combination looks. i'm really love what you're doing with this base. also loved all the other fun bits that were included in this ep, it's been a joy to watch u have fun with the other hermits :) (and despite the washed up allegations you kicked butt in total chaos hehe.) also on the bumper rails for the race: i think it's totally fine to keep them, i think they'll make for a better race. if there isn't some type of bumping mechanism, the boats are able to go off-course into the grass (or whatever's on the side) and i think that that's more frustrating than bumping around. bumping around can be frustrating, but will also have a comedic effect & can be turned into an advantage when played right. going off course is only ever frustrating & it feels being thrown out of the game instead of being hindered by a mechanic of the game. Though when the course is surrounded by mountains the mountains can act like the bumping rails, so i don't see a need to add any in those locations!

i am deeply amused by the choice to invent a language just to fill up wall space in the base. and so excited at the similarities to the Monstrosity - that was my favourite base you've ever done and i can't wait to see how this one turns out since you've turned up your building skills. loved seeing your POV of the zedvancement - i missed the noteblock era so much, and you and Zed together is such a delight! GGWP in the match against Beef! i loved the misdirection of making him think you were taking the golden apple instead of the efficiency book from your discard pile. very evil 😌

*@EthosLab* 14:30 I have said it before, but I will say it again: *Use guidelines OVER the track* like 3-5-ish block up, so it can't be interacted with. It doesn't even need to be a solid line, it can be lines crossing the track (perpendicular to along the track), the lines are green from one direction & red from the other direction ( [green glass] [white block] [red glass] ), This also allows for intersections in the same plane, without need for pistons & such, obviously with a risk of collisions, but that's just fun in this case. And for cases like crossings, each "track indicator" can be color coded depending on the way you travel through there.
