Shift : not bouncing and taking fall damage Space: bounce up to 1 block high and no fall damage

Holding down shift makes it so that you don't get bounced back up. It just made sense for that to mean you take fall damage as well. Holding down spacebar will turn it into a normal jump, which will negate fall damage.

Holding Shift when falling on slime blocks stops you bouncing at all (ie, you take fall damage). Holding Space when falling stops you doing a full bounce on slime blocks (you don't bounce more than a block high from the slime block. In other words, hold space for the first bounce and then hold shift to fully stop bouncing

When you hold shift, slime block's bouncing effect cancels, causing you fall damage. When you hold space, however, the slime block's bounce effect triggers, but because you jump you reset your velocity so you don't bounce up high. If you think you'll forget which one to press, you can fall once without pressing anything and then hold shift for less fall damage.

Shift causes fall damage, space prevents it

Don't hold shift, hold space

I know for a fact that when you hold the SPACEBAR while bouncing on a slime block, it will cancel fall damage, and make you stop bouncing quite so high. Holding shift will absolutely stop all bouncing, and you will take fall damage as though it was any other block. Holding Neither jump nor crouch will make you bounce with whatever inertia you had, and you will take no fall damage. Hope that helps. :)

Hold down space to not take fall damage and don't bounce up all the way. When you hold space and land on a slime block you will jump and not bounce up.

Shift negates all the special properties of the slime block including not taking fall damage while holding space will make you only jump up one block and not take fall damage as your jump is calculated before the bounce, but after the landing.

I was so glad when someone corrected X on his pronunciation of diorite, but then he said he was going to say doh-orite anyway and I cried inside

X, when you take damage on the slime block while holding shift, it's completely normal and an intended feature. Holding space will allow you to not take fall damage as well as not bounce up. :)

Holding shift IS supposed to make you take fall damage and not bounce. It makes it just like a normal block. You've been deceived, Xisuma.

DIRTY SANTA involves everyone picking an anonymous gift from the pile, or stealing a gift someone has already opened, with a three theft limit.

On a slime block, press space to cancel bouncing to a single jump without the fall damage, then press shift to cancel totally bouncing !

The very first thing I noticed on the slime block release is that you take fall damage if you are close to the edge of the block (or group of slime blocks). If you have connected blocks, then you can land in the center of those without taking damage. It's the way they were designed I think. Gotta land in the middle which can be much harder on a single slime block.

Not to be rude, but you are not supposed to hold down shift, that will cancel the bounce effect, you are supposed to hold down space, so you jump instantly when you land, but you will still have the fall-damage cancelled, after landing while holding space you will still bounce a bit on the slime block and you can stop that by pressing shift, but not before you have landed while holding down space.

When you hold space when landing on a slime block, you get launched a few blocks, but you don't take any fall damage. When holding shift, you don't get launched at all, but you take fall damage.

If you hold shift on a slime block, you will take damage. That is intended. However, if you hold space, you will not take damage. This is also intended my Mojang.

Holding shift doesn't remove fall damage. Holding space does.

On a slime block you only get your fall damage reduced when you just bounce or hold space. Holding space makes you bounce around one fifth the night of a block so try that. Maybe lag on Hermitcraft causes you to take fall damage when holding space but it should work just fine.

Normal fall = bounce up. Shift = Cancel bounce but cancel fell damage Space = Change bounce to 1 block high by holding space with no more bounces!

Personally, I liked it more when the main Nether portal was up on a platform and you had to use a ladder to get up to it. I know that it's more practical where it is now, but it just seemed like one of those whimsical little quirks that makes worlds feel special.

Hey Xisuma, to fix the slime block elevator (the one that you built first last episode, with the fences and pressure plates) that didn't work for you, all you have to do is place blocks all of the way up in the direction that the malfunctioning block is pushing you. If you do this, then the block will just push inside of you, then push up, so it will work just fine.

when you said that you all get together and draw at thesame time I imagine you all standing infront of the dispenser and someone spams the button

holding down shift you do actually take damage on slime blocks (i died from fall damage once not knowing that) -- you only get the fall damage negated when you hold space or nothing at all. I think of it like when you hold shift you come to a complete stop, whereas when holding space, you still bounce (albeit not very high). just wanted to say that you're definitely not the only one taking damage while holding shift and falling on slime blocks.

If you hold shift as you hit a slime block then you will always take fall damage, regardless of whether you are on a server or single player. Holding space will stop you from bouncing back up and you won't take fall damage.

Shift always makes you take damage now, Space bar is the alternative!

I've heard 2 versions of "Secret Santa" - one where you actually have a secret giver/santa like you're describing, or there's the version one of the larger chunks of my extended family uses, where each person buys one gift for a randomly selected person, but the person receiving it knows who gave it to them. The secretive version is common in office environments, in an attempt to limit the ability to buy favor by giving the boss a good present, while the other is in less political environments like families and groups of friends. (It's also better for teaching little kids good manners, since they can actually give a proper thank you rather than bawling out thanks to the entire room...which is acceptable at the age of 6 but not as much so at the age of 16.)

a secrete santa, at least where i am from is you have a group of people put all of their names in a hat, a jar, something along that line, and you draw a name without anyone knowing it, and that name is who you got a gift for.

shift nullufies the slime block completely but when you hold space then it reduces the bounce!

In our country dirty santa is called monito monita. we write our codenames and pick from the hat. everybody tells what they get and youll know from whom youre gonna get.

Don't know if you watch his stuff, but TheJims has a slime block elevator he built on the Mindcrack server that seems to work relatively well - at least every time I've seen him use it it has.

its "fun" that a 0.1 if a sec can mess everything up

why you are takeing dmg is cuz you are landing on the pressureplate block cuz you are getting "pushed" out by the pistons on the way down you need to be sure that you are landing on the slime block

I think you can just dig a hole, pour water in it and then put cobwebs on it and slimes would fall ito the cobwebs and then die in the water
