Hermansson 5 & 3 gain stages circuit in a Marshall 2203

This is a totally rebuilt Marshall 2203 from 1980 with the Hermansson 5 gain stage circuit + a new 3 gain stages clean/crunch channel. Both channels are all-tube distortion circuits, with no clipping diodes or transistors. The 3-gain stages circuit uses a specially designed 4-band EQ. The controls for this channel (location on the back panel of this amp) are: gain, bass cut, scoop, darkness, hair, and volume. The dynamic response and "clean up" by lowering the volume on the guitar are extraordinary!

• Tightness control
• Punch control
• 3-way tightness range switch
• 3-way punch range switch
• 3-way presence range switch
• 3-way bright switch
• 3-way mid-boost switch
• 3-way more mids/dark switch
• Effects loop
Guitar straight into the amp, TC G-major in the loop for some delay.
When the amp is reversed I'm using the 3 gain stages channel, the channels are of course foot-switchable.

This amp's distortion is dryer than James Bond's Martini, and in a great way, it's tighter than a F1 seatbelt!!!
Damn. I’d be happy with that clean/crunch channel alone….since it cleans up that well. Wild. I would buy this amp.

I think high gain amplifiers should now be measured by how much they make the ground (and thus cameras) shake as a method for determining how epic they are. Hermansson's amps would consistently rank the highest. We need seismometers to measure guitar amps now!
