Herman's Hermits on Danny Kaye Show

Музыка

Peter Noone Yucks it up with the likes of a Danny Kaye. A snippet of Mrs Brown, and Interview, and then, the inevitable song....with Wild and Crazy Go-Go Peoples!!

Being a 23 year old in 2021, it's interesting see how entertainment was so different from the way it is now. I can imagine the looks people would get if they try those dance moves now! But still, life seemed much less cynical during those times. It's sad I'll never be able to experience this in my lifetime.

I can't believe that this has been posted - what a treasurer. Peter Noone - what a cutie he was. Those dancers in the front - Go-Go Dancers - what fun. This is a real gem to have posted. With Danny Kaye commenting too. Thanks

I remember watching 'The Danny Kaye Show' and was always amazed at how he would walk out and introduce the artist/comedian/whoever with sincere admiration and interest. You usually watched and actually learned something about the performer that you didn't know before. Danny was one of the best.

It's wierd, him just standing in the center, his hands at his sides, looking very mellow and innocent in a nice, neat suit, and then having frenetic dancers in bright clothing all around.

Danny Kaye was just a very nice and caring person, who was only interviewing Peter Noone as any good show host would do, to introduce him to the American public. You may be right about John Lennon, though, who was pretty much a jerk with most on a personal level.

Yes. "The Dann Kaye Show" ran for four full seasons from 1963-67 Wednesday evenings from 10 to 11 p.m. on CBS. This followed an extremely successful film career. He also was a fine dramatic actor.

Have to agree with you David. Danny was just interviewing Peter. If you've ever seen a Danny Kaye movie - he's a goofy funny guy ! He's not making fun of Peter he's just being Danny Kaye ! I'm old enough that I watched the Danny Kaye show - he's an extremely nice guy. He worked tirelessly for UNICEF, a humanitarian who worked for many causes.

"For all of his success as a performer... his greatest legacy remains his tireless humanitarian work - so close were his ties to the United Nations International Children's Emergency Fund (UNICEF) that when the organization received the Nobel Peace Prize, Kaye was tapped to accept it," according to music critic Jason Ankeny

It was the very first time I heard "I'm Henry VIII" when they sang it. I went back 8 years and found I had already made a similar comment. It was performed in August, and aired Sept.22,1965.

Kaye's CBS variety show -- and other variety shows of the period (mid 1960s)-- often featured younger musical styles. Music wasn't as age-segregated as it is nowadays; Danny featured pop, folk, rock, country...anything, because audiences were much more open to listening to different things back then. This show originally aired on September 22, 1965, btw.

I'd believe that . . . it was in the 1965-66 season that "The Danny Kaye Show" went color. I.I.N.M., this was one of the early examples of Norelco's PC-60 cameras (the preferred color camera of CBS) in action.

I honestly don't see Danny doing anything rude. He's taking interest in the young man's career and early life, and doing it all with his usual good humour. He comments on the hairstyles of the time, lets the boy show off some of what he says he can do (faces), comments on his youth...I saw no: "U THINK U CAN MAKE FACES HAHAHAAA, UR HAIR STINKS, U CLD NEVER B AN ACTOR..." He imitated accents, because that's what he does, and comedians do that all the time. Kaye is a very kind fellow, after all.

You must remember that Danny Kaye on his show there, wouldn't make himself into an arse, because at that time, his daughter Dena would have screamed at him. She was only 18 at the time. Danny was a true comedian, but with certain acts he had on his shows, he was very cordial and understanding. He was learning what the kids of this era liked for music as opposed to what he listened to, during his youth.
