Mike Smith, lead singer of Dave Clark Five, was paralyzed from a freak accident. Peter Noone financed and supported Mike’s acquiring a handicapped van and did everything he could do to make Mike’s final years as tolerable as possible. He was really the one big name that stood up to help Mike. My kids loved the DC5 music and corresponded with Mike the final months of his life. Peter Noone is definitely not a no one.

Thank you for your comment. I did not know that Mike Smith was paralyzed from an accident. I was born in 1951 in the US so the DC5, the Beatles, the Stones and of course, Herman and the Hermits were a part of my life. I have been revisiting the music of my youth and am amazed at how talented the musicians of the 1960s and 1970s were. I take time to research the members and learn about their lives. It is sad how many had tragic outcomes despite their early successes. I love knowing that Peter Noone was kind to Mr. Smith. He seems like a truly nice man, untainted by success.

Mr. Noone was my rock idol since they Hermits were hits on radio back in the '60s. It makes me happy someone like that has persevered, through all the success, without becoming slave to the entrapments, like drugs, and such, over all that time - not one scandal I can think of. An impressive man and talent, IMHO.

A funny Peter No One event. Me my wife and my mother went to an oldies concert, afterward Peter was giving out autographs. My mother wanted a picture with him but the line was very long. So, she walks over to him, grabs his arm and I snap the picture, Peter says to me 'did you get it' I said yes thank you. I was too star struck to take multiple photos so we got one with Peter with a funny look on his face like whats going on. He is very nice.

I met Peter Noone once, in of all places, Caroline's Comedy Club in NY. After my set, I saw him seated at the bar and immediately recognized him. I went up to the bar in the seat next to him, ordered my drink, and introduced myself. He was very friendly and affable. I told him I had his albums as a kid, and was a fan, but must confess, the Beatles were my favorite band. Without missing the beat, a big smile came over his face and he said "Yeah, me too. The Beatles were everybody's favorite band" I laughed and asked him if he could clarify a line of the lyrics to No Milk Today for me, which he gladly did, with a smile on his face. Then he looked around he said, "Looks like you comics got your share of good looking ladies too, but everyone seems paired up" I remember thinking, this is Peter Noone, and even with his celebrity, he's currently without the company of a woman, but he definitely was on the lookout for one. With that, he stood up, extended his hand, and said "It was nice to meet you Mike, Cheers". We shook hands and off he went in search of female companionship. I'm sure he wasn't disappointed by nights end. I remember thinking, what a really nice guy, and how refreshing to know that not only was he a very down to earth guy, but he was basically in the same boat as all of us non celebrities in the mating game of life. Though I'm pretty sure his celebrity percervered and he did not go home alone. But who knows. Either way, Very Nice Guy and it was great meeting him.

I believe there is a little bit misunderstanding here. The band from the 60s and the band now are two different bands, only the drummer is the same from that group that started Herman's Hermits with Peter etc. They sing the same songs, though. In fact bands that starts up and lasts for years and years may get some changes over the years when it comes to the members. Some leaves to do their solo careers and some joins other bands etc.... things like this happends. I'm sorry you were disappointed. Maybe next time you should do a little research before, especially when it comes to bands that have kept going on for so long time as half a century!

To even get through that song without ballin' is a great accomplishment. Your voice blends good to it Peter...I agree and, I believe John would have liked your cover of it. What's funny these days is we hear Jim Morrison songs in the shopping markets sometimes or in an elevator; I'd read that '78-'79 Lennon actually listened to easy listening and elevator music to inspire him musically while he was a house husband in NYC. baking bread. Who would have thought that!
