    Because Bethesda are crackheads. They only focus on crackhead ideas. Every new game in tes has lost a part of what made previous titles replayable. Morrowind was game breaking, Todd was king crackhead for tes3. Oblivion had personality and bugs, the bugs were sometimes the funniest playthroughs. Skyrim upped the combat, but forgot about everything that made the series great. Not to mention the game feels so short. The main questline is actually the quickest one out of every series. They could have made 5 awesome dlc in the 10 years of nothing but re re re re releases with the community doing the heavy lifting with mods and creation club. Bethesda are now crackheads who lost focus and became junkies.

    I see daedric princes basically in three categories - those who are obviously harmful. - those seem mostly benevolent - those who stay neutral, ambiguous, or undecided. They all obviously play their own game. None of them are just helpful because they like being nice. None of them are purely evil. But if often aligns. Like how Meridia hates all that undead stuff, which usually means handing out artifacts that are good at destroying the undead. That most mortals also dislike vampires and zombies and such is just a coincidence. Hermaeus Mora falls clearly into the neutral category. Not out for domination, torture, power or trickery. Simply observing and recording. Sanguine also fits. He is more into parties and fun. Playing pranks and enjoying orgies and a good joke. Sheogorath as well, but more the ambiguous type. Clavicus VIle can also sit in the ambiguous group. Yes, a trickster, but one that can be dealt with. And a deal is a deal.

    Is it possible that the "first secret" that Mora was created from is the fact that it's a video game, or at least a fake world outside of the dream? There's a few characters who have knowledge of chim, but if I'm not mistaken, Hermaeus Mora actually stares at the player through the screen when speaking, and not the character. If it's a secret from the beginning of creation, it has to be something like that.

    But then you’ve gotta take a step back and up out of the 3rd dimension. If 2D media are windows into alternate realities from the news to books, shows, movies and video games, then the realities offered to us by The Elder Scrolls are very real ones that we can commune with as the soul in between mind and body. We thankfully only experience vicariously via 2D media for now, but imagine if one consented fully to their influence in 3D reality?

    Heretical thought: they are two sides if the same coin

  • @lewisbeer6156

    @lewisbeer6156

    5 ай бұрын

    @@chazzwozzio or, if you wanna get even more philosophical, there are no two sides to the coin. No one ever SEES the Aedra, the closest you get is Martins Avatar in Oblivion. There are Princes like Meridia who were "cast out" from the Aedra for their connection to darker aspects. But what if it was more complex than that. The worship of a God in ES is directly correlated to how powerful they are, and there are cults and groups that worship these Daedra incessantly. But they are often relatively small. What if the "Aedra" are mere aspects of the Daedra, dilutions created to fit the frightened and self-righteous psyche of man/mer. They are forces of overarching darkness, but with a benevolent front, they can be worshipped constantly and dotingly, collecting power from the great lie that there are good gods, that there are above-all entities that merely guide the path of Mundus, and Nirn, and do not interfere. Compared to those pesky daedra, loved by few and feared by most. Interfering far more frequently, and concurrently frightening the people of nirn into worshipping their supposedly benevolent counterparts, allowing them to harvest even more power without ever being held to the same standard as their positive counterparts. They have their rivalries and do not overall like each other, but understand that they are stronger divided as Daedra, but conceptually united as a pantheon of Aedra. Lorkhan is the Prince of Mundus, it is his Realm of Oblivion, they didn't fully kill him though, they kept him alive through the heart, and the towers, and through taking aspects of his power in his realm into themselves. He was the prometheus, the one who threatened to reveal the great deception of the existence of the Aedra. Lorkhan continues to exist outside of the Void, or Oblivion, or Mundus. He now has been sown through it all. Ebony, Lorkhans own blood, is weaved into the Daedric weapons, and armor, and artefacts as a means of preserving his power to stabilise Nirn, and he is Auriel, the Daedric Prince of Man is the Aedric God of Mer. Now trapped, embedded into every aspect of Mundus so the Daedra can use it, and their Aliases as Aedra, to farm power and control over the rest of Aetherius. That's why they all try periodically to take the whole realm for themselves, but seem to coexist on Mundus with little complaint inbetween. They want to control it, to control its within, each Prince gaining exactly what they want from the realm, whilst never achieving enough to render their acquisition of power obsolete. The Daedra thrive off their own war, live off their own inconsistencies, and exist under one grand deception. That there is something else out there.

    A lot of the characters who “merely comprehend they’re in a video game” tend to be the ones able to interact with us directly because they know, but what if they know something bigger? Like say 2D media is a window into alternate realities we aren’t directly experiencing via 3D reality for example.

    Mr. Drew, this was truly a marvelous "telling". You never cease to amaze me with your knowledge and understanding. Since this was an hour long, there must have been an incredible amount of research you did to provide such a wonderful "telling". You may wonder why I always refer to your videos as "tellings" rather than stories. It is because there is more research that goes into what you do than there would be if it was "just a story". I have a great deal of respect for what you do and am grateful for all the time you put into your videos. Thank you, Sir.

    By far your best video ever made! Mora is my favorite Prince, and he is the most fascinating for sure. I'm so excited to see what they do with him in ES6. The Scrolls could be in existence because of him, displaced from time and space, through some godly magic, as a way to intervene in Mundus' affairs.

    I always assumed miraak gained bend will and fought against dragons and the order before the rest of the nords, why else would the dragons and the power structure become crueler to their subjects unless they thought there were true threats? Another thought its just a game mechanism but when you use bend will on a dragon the same dragon rend effect forces them to the ground, could the shout instill a similar fear of death as dragonrend? Maybe it shows dragons true subjugation as mortals/nords know it

    I just finished the Necrom storyline this afternoon, so I'm a bit late to the party here, but _so_ glad I waited to watch this piece! Seriously, there are fan analysts in almost every deep-lore franchise, some great, some not-so-great. Then there's Drew the Daedrologist, able to weave a retelling and analysis of hot-off-the-presses lore, find intriguing connections to it amongst established and apocryphal lore, and then deliver it using a universe-appropriate OC whose manner and voice fits perfectly with the mystical and meditative quality (with a touch of absurdist humor) that hums in the background of almost every Elder Scrolls entry. I'm sure you've heard it many times here, but well done, good sir! Keep it up!

    I've thought of an idea or perception that somewhat reconciles the in lore reference to Herma mora as Ur-dra, while also encompassing the really cool idea written by Kirkbride: Hermaeus Mora, could be both Ur-dra and born of the thrown away ideas during the creation of the Mundus and mortality. He could be one of, if not the first and oldest Daedra, but gained relevance and power upon the creation of Mundus, as it could be viewed as the creation of fate and secrets, few of which existed beforehand. He consumed the thrown away ideas and unrealised fates born during creation and became the keeper of forbidden knowledge and scryer of fate in the process

    Without watching the video yet, this is my take on harmamora: He is ancient, likely older than most if not all aedra and daedra, he is likely tied to creation and time it self i.e. aka/ariel. He is NOT a force of Chaos, he is order, he is understanding of order, which comes from chaos, he is anuelic by nature but depends on chaotic padomaism to have things to study. Without chaos there would be nothing to learn as all would be static and fully understood. He wants to learn because there is no stasis and thus he can learn. He depends on padomai for his hunger to not be satiated. He might yarn for the days of stasis where he understood all there is(maybe in another kalpa?) and is seeking to reach the full understranding of all there is so he can get things back to where he feels more at home. If he was chaos, he could not organize all the knowledge so well. His plane looks chaotic to a simple human mind that can never hope to understand any of it. After all, there is no chaos, it is just order too complex for one's mind to wrap it self around it.

    Makes sense considering septimus signus. People said Septimus was insane but he had seen an elder scroll. The elder scroll shows what is true and what could have been true but will never be. Septimus speaks in a way that you can only understand if you've seen the tides of fate for what they really are. Memories and writings are not different things to septimus. They are the same thing that he calls knowings because to septimus if it is not written on paper it can be written in the mind or in a dwemer lexicon. Septimus was just able to see the world a bit more like mora and so mora needed to have him taken out of the equation after septimus unlocked the dwemer box chamber that had held the ogma infinium.
