    Tim Davis How, GM doesn’t want to lose any money, so they’re going with the crossovers, which is where they make a lot of money. Also remember how bad the old blazers were. Sure they’re cool now but they aren’t good trucks.

    I bought a 2018 ZR2 diesel and love it for the woods here in NC. Took it to Uwharrie National Forest and ran some of the off-road trails. It rocked it like a champ with its stock set-up. I stopped short of going onto the Daniel trail, that one is going to need a little more than the stock 2 inch lift and 32 inch wrangler tires. Running the dirt roads with the DSSV shocks was fun and I managed to throw out the tail a bunch of times as I was coming around the corners, lots of torque getting put down. I will say this though, the gas versions I drove were a lot more peppy and good for speed and acceleration, and I imagine if I was in Baja or the south west I would of gone with the gas engine, but I love my 24 MPG right now that I'm getting. If you want to wait for the Bison you might have to order it from the factory, I had to hunt my truck down and lucked out when I found out the dealer received one the day prior and it was the only diesel in the receiving lot still, bought it with only 8 miles on the odometer. Good luck on your purchase!

    hey there i would definitely love to see more of the zr2, specifically offroad and climbing, like when you have to use the rear and front lockersto get over an obstacle or climbing up a steep hill .... id love to see how it performs maybe if u can do a head to head with the same year jeep or the new jl or something like that... also does the zr2 colorado have a sway bar disconnect button? that truck is everything i would love in a truck... i would love to see how it performs head to head with a jeep jl .. also in the bed even with the zr2 sports bar mounted up in the bed, do you think it would be wide enough to put a quad in the truck? wide enough and long enough? lastly id love to see a 0-60 to get a better feeling of how fast it actually is... and maybe down the road if you can get a zr2 with the little diesel cummins engine and take em both offroad and see how they compare and what is truly better on road and offroad... thanks in advance.. looking forward to more videos.. great reviews... cheers

    Another great video. I just bought a ZR2 v6 with the light bar as my daily driver instead of an M4! For all of the reasons that you mentioned... Plus, I already have a modified 350z so the M4 seemed redundant. What I did not have yet was a Cool, smaller 4WD pickup that I could do some off-roading in (Bucket list!). I hear the 2019 ZR2 may come with additional features so you might want to wait for a 2019. I got my 2018 for 6k off MSRP. Subscribed for future ZR2 content. FYI, there's no garage door button in the ZR2 and only halogen projector lights - my two biggest dislikes. Not mentioned by Chevy marketing are the Dana axles, the front beefy control arms which are from a full sized HD truck and the 4-piston calipers on the front brakes...

    As you said, 7700 max towing capacity(with proper rear axle ratio brakes suspension etc), so 300 pound difference. But your point is taken. People. Don’t load up 8,000 on this thing. Stop at 7700 and double check your Colorado’s specific towing capacity 😊🤣

  • @SoSlo2

    @SoSlo2

    Sorry Joseph... You're wrong. The Z71.. LETS SAY IT AGAIN Z71! Colorado has the 7700 max towing capacity for the duramax. The ZR2, however regardless of engine is capped at 5,000. This is likely due to the ride height and DSSV suspension setup. Nobody should be ripping his head off for getting it wrong, but clearly someone at the dealership doesn't know their shit.

    What an AWESOME coincidence that DougSpeed717 and Daddy Doug D do a review of the EXACT same color Chevy Colorado ZR2, even though his was the diesel version. I love it especially since this has been my dream truck for the last almost two years now when I heard it was coming out. I however can't stand black on black on black, it looks cool but is overdone and sucks BIG time to keep clean. If I had 45k laying around for a truck I would get it in the Deepwood Green Metallic with black bowties, it has almost an Army/Military look to it and I love to fish, waterfowl hunt, hunting in general and kayaking so it would go well with the outdoors theme. I am glad they let you take it slightly off road up and down that steep hump, you didn't even scratch the surface of it's capability. When I worked at a dealership in Wash PA, we took it up a rather steep hill and had to use the front and rear lockers it worked like a charm. You were given misinformation when you said that the gas one tows 6500lbs and the diesel tows 8000lbs, they both regardless of engine tow 5,000 lbs because of the Multimatic DSSV damper shocks are obviously meant for off roading and are too soft for towing. The standard Colorado tow 7k with the gas engine and 7.7k with the Baby Duramax respectively. You were definitely right about how the motors feel to drive, the gas engine is way punchier, accelerates quicker, etc... and would be better for on and some off road use even some baja running type off roading, where the diesel shines is more extreme off roading where that low end torque helps get over rocks and steeper angles. I agree 100% that if you want a more dedicated off roader that the ZR2 is more versatile and can fit more places, think a much more comfortable Jeep Wrangler with a bed for truck utility (No the Scrambler will be one ugly mofo and drive like a brick in the wind with a bed), and the Raptor is much more luxury with more insane power and presence, but harder to park and drive in certain areas. Great review Mike errr DougSpeed 717, I think you should definitely get the ZR2 Bison when it comes out, I see way more channels with Raptors than ZRs in them. Happy 4th of July.

    BryGuy87 If you are towing, get the diesel. If you really like to get on it hard off road, and a lot of stuff like that, get the v6. That is the downside to the diesel, if you just smash on the throttle, you will end up plugging up the DPF filter. Not a big deal if you are in a area where you can delete the truck though.

    Tow rating is 5000 lbs on ALL ZR2s. It has to do with less air flow to the radiator and engine. Also limited by the off road suspension. I have the leveled Dmax ZR2. It is a great truck off road and still gets 27mpg on the highway here in PA.

  • @jonahsantellana7772
    @jonahsantellana77726 жыл бұрын

    Bruh. The fact he is even COMPARING the two is outrageous. The ZR2 is a legit off-roading/rock crawler. The Raptor is more of a baha desert racer. Big difference. And i like how he is even comparing the price... the difference in price is exactly the same as the difference between a regular midsized and fulsized. So the packages are essentially non comparable in the price category. The Raptor is better in every was as an all around truck which is why it is actually worth the price. So... just get a Raptor. Especially when you are trading in a ZR1 so... price shouldnt really be a question.

    So I work for a multi-millionaire and he loves cars. He owns a 2018 Raptor and I've driven it a lot. It's the car he gives me to take and do errands for him in addition to my actual work, anyway so I've driven it a fair amount, and I would never buy one. The raptor is a fun truck no doubt, and it's fun off road but there is really no power. Yeah it has a lot of horsepower, it's got turbos, but it's not fun. It's fast, really fast for a piece of metal that big, but when you put your foot down it's not fun. You're not thrusted back into your seat, the exhaust is also shit, although the interior is nice. The truck needs Fords new big block V8. The torque will really add to the fun factor of it. I mean I'm a ford guy, I drive a mustang, I'm pretty young and in college so it's just a V6 but I have more fun in that car than the $90,000 raptor with packages. My mustang costed 6k, I think ford really screwed up, hopefully the V8 puts the performance back in Ford Performance as far as the raptor goes.

  • @mcamero21

    @mcamero21

    5 жыл бұрын

    What is some of this supposed to mean? It has no power (more hp than any full size truck), but it's fast? The torque will add to the fun? 510ft/lbs is also class leading. I am a Ford guy as well. When I was younger, I drove a 2011 Mustang with a V6. It was 0-60 in 5.3 with the manual I had. Slower than that if I'd had the automatic. The 2017 Mustang (last year of the V6) will do 0-60 in 5.5 seconds. I've since, also had the 5.0 (2015 w/ performance package). Now I drive a Raptor. The 6,000lbs F-150 Raptor will do 0-60 in 5.2 seconds. Everyone is entitled to their opinion, but do me a favor and don't put any cash down in a drag against a Raptor. You will lose.

    I've had a 2017 Holden Colorado from new, a base model in the 2.8 litre diesel "Duramini". I daily it, tow a racecar + spares on a regular basis, its a great cheap 4wd and goes awesome off road, class leading power and torque (in Australia) and plenty of room for four fully grown men to drive in. Tows brilliantly and they look pretty great. My vote is the baby duramax and enough money for mods leftover.
