Here's Why The 2004 Dodge Dakota is the Best Truck ... IN THE WORLD!
Ойындар
Hey guys Bcmwolverine here, and today I review the 2004 Dodge Dakota!
Some things I should address:
1) You stole Doug DeMuro's schtick!
That's the joke. Besides Doug created a score to objectively rate any vehicle, I believe it's a good way to rate a vehicle so I thought I would try and review a car with his criteria.
2) We get it you hate the Dakota
No. I never said I hated it. I myself wouldn't likely buy a pickup but I do believe that this is a good value for money and I do like the Dakota.
3) Good lord how Canadian are you?
Very. Small town Alberta Canadian in fact!
4) Are you Scotty Kilmer's son?
nOw yA doN't WanNa rEv yOuR EngINe wHEn iTs nOt wArMEd uP. Seriously though, no lol
5) Finally, don't take the video too seriously, my friend and I just made this to be funny, we are both fans of Doug DeMuro and we both like cars!

It also has that little engine shaped orange light on the dash to show you when the engine is running. That's a nice feature Dodge has.

Had my 04 since 08 and the only major thing I had to replace was the 545rfe trans. Never a problem with the 4.7 after 165k miles. No rust anywhere and the paint held up great.
“ its basically a sports truck”😂😂😂 best part
That truck has rear ABS you can see it working in the video. The front locked up and the rear was still spinning.
I love my Dakota. Runs like a top. Never had a single issue with it. I will never get rid of my truck.

Have a 04 club cad,had 12 miles on her when bought, has 248,000 miles, simple issues, fuel pump- under warranty, electric fan, pinion bearing- from pulling a overloaded trailer for thousands of miles along with a transmission rebuild as of this week, been garage keep all of her life and still looks brand new. Most people don't believe it's a 04. 3.7 liter does not disappoint, Best truck I've ever owned!!!

I’ve had a 5.2 1999 Dakota single cab(had kids), 4.7 2001 Dakota quad cab(A/C broke), now have 4.7 2005 Dakota quad cab with minor problems at 96,000miles….water pump, suspension, manifolds. Great trucks
Bought me a 3.7L 2WD 2004 extended cab Dakota for $100 CDN. Seller was convinced the head gasket was shot, it wasn't. It was a cracked thermo coupler. I felt so bad I gave him an extra $50 and kept the truck. After investing around $2000 I replaced the broken thermo coupler, put on new brakes, new rotors and tires, it seems Ive gotten myself a pretty decent little truck. It even came with a rhino coated box, a towing hitch, a nice lid style tonneau cover and a canopy!
Are you related to the boy from South Park that says, “shut up Mimsy”.
Funny video. I have a 5.9l Quad cab and I love it. These are getting hard to find now with no rust. Mine pulls my 21' camper pretty well. And well, for an old truck its never let me down.

I'm almost done with my frame off resto of my 96 5 speed, 4x4, 5.2, short bed short cab Dakota. Frame 'just' started to rust, like surface only, so its been sand blasted and repainted. Great truck, fast, reliable, simple to work on, I plow with it and its like a tank in the snow. I added a 8 3/4 for a rear end so I can swap out gearing easily for winter and summer driving, and I'm swapping a 360 Magnum in soon as I'm done rebuilding that.
I have a 2000 Dodge Dakota Quad Cab 4 x 4 with the 5.9/360 Magnum engine, 4 speed auto, 3.92 rear diff and towing package. It has nearly 200,000 miles and still going pretty good. I do use it occasionally to tow my 2 horse bumper pull trailer. It's gone through one transmission rebuilt, one transmission replacement of the broken rooster tail, one transmission torque converter and leaking seal replacement, one heater core replacement, two radiators, two water pumps, one fan belt, one fan belt idler, one fan belt tensioner, one set of shocks, 3 batteries, two sets of tires (just about to be 3), one set of brakes (about to be the second), one rear wheel ABS sensor replacement, one front wheel bearing and front CV shaft replacement. But it has never left me stranded. I do change the oil every 2,500 miles and have done all the work myself except for the transmission and heater core.
I’m buying a 04 v6 Dakota and I’ve been doing research on this truck. This is the best video so far 👍

I just recently picked up a 1999 2WD Dakota, with an extended cab, 6' bed (I think, but I haven't measured it), and the slow as hell 3.9L v6. Honestly, not much to say about the Dakotas other than they are trucks. Nothing more, nothing less. Just very basic trucks that will do exactly what you need them to do. And that's what I love about mine. It's simple.

I have a 97 4x4 with the 3.9. And you're right. It barely has enough power to get out of the way. But I don't mind that it's slow. I like that it's a basic, nothing fancy, reliable little truck. It's easy to work on, and I got it cheap. So it's perfect for work, and hauling dirt bikes around the desert. I don't intentionally beat on it, but it won't break my heart if it gets some dings and scratches.
I love my 04 Dakota. Run and drives great. Haven’t had s ingle problem.

My 2002 has a 4.7 engine with a 9.25 rear end with limited slip and 3.92 gears. It would get to 60 a lot faster if the rear tires would stay connected to the ground. But yeah, the mileage is shit.
Big snow just hit I was sideways everywhere in my 02. Very solid truck💪🏿💯
mines a 2000 and has ABS? Also i swear mine picks up to 80-100 km like nothing and is a 4.7.

Love my 03 Dakota 4.7 quad cab.
I'm looking at a 09 dodge dakota with the 3.7 l v6 and the 4 speed automatic. I had a 5.7 l hemi ram years ago and it was a pig on gas but I've been told the v6 doesnt actually do mutch better? Also the truck has 141k km, good buy? Are those trucks reliable?

Both my 95 dodge caravan and 91 plymouth voyager van could be started the same way with out the key. The key switch locks were pretty weak for some reason, but comes in handy when you lose your key, just dont look it lmfao.
Does this truck ever exist around Lethbridge? I always see one that looks exactly like this. I own one myself, and they’re one of my favourite vehicles so I always examine them a little when I see them.

Holy Alberta. Take 'er for a rip there bud.
310,000 miles on my 3.7 2wd auto. Uses 1 qt per 1000 miles. Valve lifters and timing chains are silent. Zero issues beyond normal stuff. No rust. Considering getting a reman engine, but it runs so well, it’s tough to justify it. I am curious about what oil consumption levels others get.
That rust probably got even worse sadly, hope the guy took care of it.

You have to replace your key ignition if you can pull it out of your ignition cuz mine doesn't do that unless it's broken I've had cars that have done that many of times before but you have to replace the ignition and the 4.7 l has more problems than anything
THANK YOU I was looking for this. Dude good luck and love your online personality. Keep working hard everywhere you see fit as I am sure you already do. I hope this finds you in the best of health and great days ahead for you, your family, and your friends man.

What kind of lift does it have like brand and height???

I approve. I drive an 06’ 4.7l v8 slt, and the only issues I’ve found with it so far is the breaks wear as any other cars would. Though I literally get 8.2 MPG, it’s a thirsty ho, but she looks and feels good and reliable no matter where or when.
Of course it has ABS lol. It’s probably just harder for y’all to brake and get the truck to stop with all that snow in Canada lol

The Dakota is what got me from chevy into dodges but i leggit have a question. I know theres Dakotas who have a V8 engine, but so do the Rams why get a small V8 instead of the full size truck???
Going to have to say Dodge Dakota it's a small truck but it does quite a bit more than S10 or a Mazda pickup truck whatever do
Your ignition is broke, I have a 2004 Dakoda crew cab and the key does not come out when started.
I've got a quad cab full size ram 1500 with a rebuilt 4.7. Your engine has alot of miles.Im telling you the 4.7 in my full size pick up pushes and pulls insanely. Have 3 zero turns I pull with Iit goes up hills like a hemi. Get that motor rebuilt
all the visable rust on it i could only imagine what the underside looks like. Come to CZalifornia I will let you do a review on my 2000 Dakota r/t extended cab 5.9 liter engine not a spec of rust underneath it.

The best purchase I ever made 1998 dodge dakota 4x4
Scott Kilmer gives a Doug score.
These kids are so young they are confused and expecting features that came out in the late 90’s.
mine would put in the seat mines a high output it fun to drive
Ya the driver only unlock door feature is fine with me. Live in the hood really don’t need all the doors unlocking with out my consent
They will never make these trucks the same, they will be these expensive luxury things. I hope if it comes back it is like this with the front split bench seating and column shifter. Very basic and not luxurious!
Lots of trucks do the lock thing i know my ford f350 2005 does that
Good truck but perhaps clean the damn thing before show casing.. Also it's good it had hazard lights wow and seeing the dirty cigarette lighter was a bonus knowing it's been heavily smoked in and y'all can't vacuums the thing.... Brilliant
I drive a 4.7 quad cab with 232k and it runs fine, has its wear but i think this is more of a parody. this truck isnt that slow if you actually bury your foot all the way. the door locks are iffy yes but the key in mine doesnt come out, that can be a bad tumbler. at the time it was the only mid sized truck witha v8, and even chevys famous 4.3 v6 (350 with 2 pistons chopped off) wouldnt take on the 4.7 witha factory power rating 40 horse more and about 80 more ft-lbs of torque, 6 bolt hubs and more ground clearance than the chevrolet s10 and the 2wd rangers, though 4x4 might have been taller. biggest issue with them in my opinion is the body, and the gear ratios dodge chose for the rear end and transmission. at 120 km/h im only sitting at 2000 rpm in 5th gear. i can do 110 at 2600 rpm in 3rd for gods sake, its not the engine. with optional overdrive in the auto its rare that i would use it even on the highway. where i live quite frequently you can find yourself on 30 degree inclines or more even on the highway, thats hellish on the transmission if you decide to use overdrive
@zzz7zzz9
3 жыл бұрын
don't use overdrive then. pretty simple.
Check engine light is always on but keeps running forever
I have a 92 dakota
Thats kinda dumb tho cause if you're scared of getting your truck stolen so you leave it running and take the keys out then someone could still steal it since you can drive it with out keys
nope if you have over 600 lbs in bed strapped down change lanes on highway gets squirrly also these have a problem with trans solinoid that p700 code..wheel hubs are costly and pain to change seats are not heavily padded
A couple of thousand? Maybe if beat to Hell, ridden hard, put away wet, rusted out, and mistreated, but Gen II Dakotas in decent shape cost US$5-7k. As for styling, this generation sold like gangbusters which is why Dodge left it unchanged for 8 years and sales halved when they introduced 2005 Gen III.The Dakota Gen II styling followed cues from 1994 Ram design which dramatically increased Dodge’s market share. By comparison, GM and Ford offerings in early/mid 90’s (both full size and compact trucks) were literally square boxes. Then Ford compounded their error by turning truck design over to minivan engineers, giving us the fugly late 90’s Fords. It helped Dakota was the only mid-sized truck, filling a unique niche GM and Ford later attacked with larger compacts, and Japanese companies squeezed with smaller “full-size” trucks. Of course, you probably never heard any of that since it all occurred before your time. History matters.
Amost everything said here is way off base. I have a 03 Dakota 4x4 quad cab and its same truck as 04. I would gladly own another one when mine finally dies but it still going strong at 230,000 miles. My truck was fully loaded and has towing package. I have had 6,000 pounds behind it and never was lacking in power. As for used ones m6 03 still has a resale of almost $5 grand 04's are going for up to $6 or $7 grand. So what this guy has against a Dakota i havnt a clue but from someone who is a owner i can say he is full of it.
Mines an 06 runs like a scaoulded dog 186,000 & going 💪 very pleased may even do a video myself because its clear you guys are comedians and the american public should benefit from a real truck mans video
