Here's Why Ollie Bearman Could Be The Next Charles Leclerc
Спорт
A young Ferrari junior absolutely dominated this weekends Azerbaijan Formula 2 round. Dominated in a way that felt pretty Charles Leclerc-esque. So lets talk about Ollie Bearman, the 17 year old who could be the key to Ferrari's future. Especially if Charles leaves Ferrari...

CORRECTION: Martins got pole in Saudi, not Bearman. He was P2, by 7 thenths at that. I've cut that part out in the YT editor, but it might still be showing. My bad.
Seeing how Leclerc's career turned out so far, I hope not. No one deserves to suffer that much.

In my opinion, Ollie is generational. His talent is insane. He’s had a couple stinkers, but I think that’s just bc he is so young and doesn’t have that experience yet. But Ollie’s wheel to wheel is always so precise and just overall good racing. I really can’t wait to see what’s in the future for him

it's so strange to me that Ferrari (italian) got Ollie Bearman (british) and Mercedes (german/brit-ish) got Kimi Antonelli (italian) I hope we get to see both of them in the next 5 years in F1 machinery - incredibly talented young men, very deserving of a F1 drive, we just need some F1 drivers to retire :P

I’ve seen his name floating around for years and I’m so proud he’s succeeding the way he is in F2 right now. I can’t help but feel it is a touch premature. Like you touched on at the end unfortunately Theo seems to be struggling with his hype. He was unreal in F3 and his first year of F2, but we’re looking at his 3rd season. He should be dominating already. Best of luck to Bearman. I hope he takes P2 to be able to do another year in F2 as I can’t see a seat for him in F1 just yet especially in the FDA

So they might wanna have an experienced driver and oliver as their lineup sainz is also probably not gonna stay so the lineup might change completely imo.

Pretty good video! Theo has definitely "underdelivered", given we expected him to have a Russell/Leclerc dominant season, and it's his third already. I'd still give Theo the edge between the two of them. Also, given we are talking about Ollie Bearman, we still keep mentioning Theo, which speaks of the talent, potential and hype around that guy. In any case, Ollie had a very impressive weekend in Baku, and this year's F2 grid is absolutely stacked. I definitely agree that the competition is tougher this year than it was in 2017, I dare say maybe even better than 2018. Winning the title for Ollie would be a tall order, but he's got the talent, the discipline, the concentration; a bright future for this young man.

I think Theo is the quickest driver in F2, but he's got that mistake in him. A lack of consistency perhaps, could prove costly.

Massive talent this lad! Potentially massive future for Ollie
Literally thought the exact same thing after this weekend, hopefully he can get a seat somewhere next season, maybe in for Zhou?
he is honestly the junior i look forward too the most. i liked him since f4. and he was pretty well knows during karting too. i was happy to see him joining FDA and then Prema in f3. let's not forget that his start in F3 was slower, he was the Prema driver with he lowest points, then he become the highest placed Prema driver and the only one who fought for the championship till the last race. and he could have won the f3 championship last year too. i do see Charles in him, they both have this natural talent.
great video tommo as always
Been supporting him since F3 and honestly he’s a future world champ winner
Bearman is racing for Ferrari today! Hopefully, he will bring the car back home with a podium finish! ❤️
I really want to get into f2 because it seems so much more fun but it's so difficult to keep up with who is who since the liveries don't match the team names or logos on the side. It's definitely great racing I just struggle to get attached the way I have with F1
6:45 You need to add to that that Ollie should have won the title if it wasn't for the FIA shenanigans that happened in the second race
Dont forget Kimmi Antonelli
All those P1's, this guy is literally me... In F1 games.
I had a feeling a video on Mr Bearman would be coming soon😂

Of course!
Well Ollie brought the goods this weekends standing in for Carlos Sainz. I hope this isn’t the last we see of him in F1.
Ollie is starting out very strong in F2. Not ready to call him the next LeClerc next as to do so he needs to have these kind of spectacular results consistently. But a very strong start in F2 for a rookie.
While I have no doubt Ollie is incredibly talented and made to be a star of the future and the next best thing from fda after leclerc, he still has a long way to prove himself. He was the best for me in F3 last year but he only really started showing his true potential in the second half and in F2, baku was his first clean weekend (not saying it was his fault for previous ones but he did make some mistakes). I hope he has gotten the rhythm of f2 by now but its not fair to him to compare him to leclerc, who's a generational talent, as it only mounts extra pressure on him and people are going to be very hard on him when he makes mistakes (which as a rookie, is completely fine) because they put him on a pedestal he did not asked to be put in. It is very early to judge him, it's only been 4 rounds.
I sure hope so. I've been a fan of Ollie's since the opening round of this season, was over the moon when he grabbed pole with broken steering, and then went on to win too. I'd love to see that man in a Ferrari and he's still got so long to go, he's still so young, but already winning in Formula 2 (which is better than F1, for clarity 😉)
the fact you didnt mention vesti in his title rivals
I always find it interesting hearing about when F1 drivers raced each other in junior series. Especially when you have some unexpected results like De Vries beating Leclerc, and I think Paul di Resta beat Vettel in a junior series as well.
He's been genuinely at every race season, just not really converted into results until Baku. He is a scary talent
Funny ... 😅😂 watching this while playing on my 10th season of F1 Manager on Maclaren with Charles and Bearman on my team 😂😂😂
I can see him replacing Sainz when Sainz's contract runs out
I'd be worried if I were K-Mag and Hulkenberg right now (seeing as how Haas is a Ferrari-powered team). Bottas too maybe but Sauber likely has Pourchaire ear-marked for one of those seats if Bottas or Zhou leave the team next season. Also, Leclerc technically did the double at Baku in 2017 like Bearman did last weekend but got a penalty and dropped down to P2 behind Norman Nato.
Honestly, I like Ollie he's quite measured as to what I've seen from his racing. I like him and Kimi (antonelli) in Prema. Also seeing Charle's career turned out now, I just hope Ferrari would push their best strategies since Charle's deadass mentioned how much he wanted to win the yesterday's race and just ended 2nd and 3rd (congrats to checo).
Also worth mentioning: What a lid with the bear on top!
Good video. I didn't know much about this young man before this. A more accurate video title, however, would be Ollie Bearman: Ferrari's Future Victim?💀
I could smell this video coming after this weekend.
you should do a vid on kimi antonelli, he's been tearing up racing series' the past year and a half
My friends and I have been betting on which rookie finishes higher in the F2 championship for a few years now. Last year I went with Doohan like an idiot. This year I finally have a shot at winning thanks to Ollie!
i returned to this video after Jeddah 2024 lol. i think like you do. i've been following Ollie since f4, i know he's talented, well-spoken and very kind and not only that he drives like Charles (it may not be the same driving style but he's as fast and brave as Charles is) but he speaks like him too (he was disappointed for finishing 7th on his debut in F1 with Ferrari with none other than Charles as team-mate). Ferrari's future is bright with those two talents.
That podium in Euro F3 with Charles at P4 was strange…
This video is definitely going to be about Bearman

Dominant win in Italian F4 in a non-prema is VERY impressive
f2 has such a fantastic group of drivers in right now (other than nissany;) who i’m rooting for rn is enzo bc emmo is my favorite driver ever! surprise surprise given my prof pic
The F2 grid is STACKED this year
I saw leclerc win a sprint race in Bahrain that he took a pit stop in, im gonna need to see more from oliver before i say hes on that level.
So Tommo, did you made a one of Miami RB livery for the contest ?
ollie bearman had an f1 game type weekend at azjerbaijan
I don’t really see a spot for him on the grid next year though. Even if Haas got rid of Kmag I think they wouldn’t go for a rookie, and Alfa Romeo would take Pourchaire before him as he is part of their driving academy. The only way for him to be on the grid is if he joins the Red Bull drivers academy
i'm impressed with his past couple of weeks.
I wish I could understand the people who say last year had a really uncompetitive roster but argue that this year it is really competitive and then talk about people that were running in F2 last year
I think Drugovich beating Pourchaire so clear last year hurt Theo’s stock as the next big thing
Lets see what the rest of the season holds for him first but if he's good enough he'll make to F1
Yes But apart from Baku Oliver Bearman best finish has been a 7th out of the previous six races so saying he could be as good as Leclerc is a bit premature
Imagine line up of Leclerc and Bearman take that as u will
Its kinda early to say imo, this was his first actual really good weekend so far Edit: he had 4 points before this race if i remember correctly. But this was impressive though

A little hint from a Austrian viewer, ist called A.D.A.C and not adac. Otherwise very good video ☺️
Antonelli vs Bearman in the Mercedes and Ferrari in the future would be mad
It's a fair comparison between Leclerc and Bearman and racing with Prema in F2 helps a lot but is there a future in F1 as a Ferrari driver there is no place at Ferrari in the near future and the customer teams Haas and Alfa Romeo won't give him a seat either .
Bearman=Leclerc Piastri=Norris Sargent=Russell De Vries=Albon P.S just a fun comparison, I’m aware they’re not the same person
well this aged like fine wine
It was a little farcical that they waited to put out the safety car until after he'd overtaken for the lead. Otherwise, a dominant, faultless performance.
Now we’re getting a bit excited
This is the most stacked F2 season since 2018.
Hahaha, I'm from Chelmsford too! (In Ontario, Canada. Sorry we stole all your town names.)
I really hope he can remain the lovable fellow he appears right now. Hate to see him turn into drama queen George.
Friendly reminder that back when charles was at F2 we all thought his competitors were also the next big things. It is too early to tell so far.
tommo's favorite driver: albon, tsunoda, iwasa he certainly has a type
Will we get a Redbull Miami Livery video with a remake?
Didn't know you're a Chelmsford boy Tommo I'm from Brentwood
Hoping Bearman wins this F2 season now just for how impressive that would be. Iwasa or Pourchaire winning just isn’t as hype
if theo doesn't win this years F2, I think he's not going to get into F1 - especially if a Rookie wins, but even with a 2nd year of a 3rd year like himself it's not going to end well; imo Theo is a strange mix of seeming/speaking humble with extreme confidence of being the best (see radio of Monaco 2022) don't like it personally - gives me the same vibes like Estie Bestie
Can anyone tell me how I can watch F2 live instead of watching the highlights every race?
Question, how do people define generational talent now? We have Leclerc, Russel, Piastri and then potentially Bearman all marked as a generational talent. But that's like 4 generational talents in 7 years. Does that mean the generation have moved on? I haven't even included Max or Lando in that pool.
why didn’t u mention Alex Albon and Nyck DeVries in F2 2017?
@TommoOnYoutube
Жыл бұрын
Because Nyck was 7th and Alex was 10th 😬
Max was already fulltime in F1 at his age xD I'm not a huge Max fan, but this is crazy
Here in the States we don’t get to see F2,F3 or Super Formula
if the very loose Charles to Mercedes rumors are to be near any truth, then surely Oli Bearman is the top choice to replace him when the time comes
The worry for Bearman is what happens if he wins? Ferrari don't hold a seat at Alfa to promote him into anymore and so I don't see anywhere obvious on the grid for him to go. He could end up being sidelined for a simple lack of anyone to race for.
You forgot about his teammate Frederick Vesti who is 2. In the championship
Ollie definitely a sound driver but with the particular academy he's in and the future that academy would take him to, unless Ferrari can sort themselves out he'll probably branch out to something other than F1.
Before watching the vid I’d just like to say Tommo that the thumbnail is just a little creepy 😂 Can’t tell if it’s a face swap or what 😂 But I do I agree with the statement
Ok Tommo is smoking something with this take
Jesus you know you are getting older when young talents like this are coming through and they are younger than you. I turned 18 last September and to think what this guy did in Baku over last weekend when he’s 8 months younger than me is just mind blowing.
