I am an owner of the F150 on my 3rd one the last one I had for 20 years and miss it. The F150 even though it can now tow heavier weights it should not be used to do so. I have an F250 6.2 and it out tows my F150 3.5 Ecoboost all day long and is more stable at higher towing speeds. The F150 is just to light to tow in heavy winds and on winding roads and in the mountains. same boat on the F150 and the F250 and I regret getting the F150 even though it can tow 9600 LBS and the F250 can tow 11500 LBS would have gotten the Diesel instead of the gas engine. Just my 2 cents

And I would have liked to know what discounts and incentives they gave him. Such a stupid old school way of thinking. Its not like your giving us your bank statements!

Bright man. I'm glad to see someone who actually put some thought into his purchase and didn't just flip from a 3 year old model and go under in value on debt. Sounds like he drove that older 99 f250 into the dirt, got every penny out of it, probably maintained it himself and then even when buying new again only paid what he had to for the specific needs he had. Great work! I bought my 2015 f150 brand new as an XLT model and now have it full paid off, but i'm not going to flip it. I'm now going to focus on maintenance and keeping it alive as long as possible while doing some personalizing mods along the way.

Hey I drove them all too and I bought a Ram 2500 Diesel. I guess I kinda understand what he means by turbo lag but the Cummins is a totally different animal. It doesn't act like the other two. And I didnt buy a diesel to race it. I bought it to tow. And it tows like a freight train baby! And I got 3.73 gears standard. Very happy about that. Im sure he would have liked the 3.73's since he went 3.55's and his only other option was 3.31's. And Im a Ford guy! I was orginally only considering a new F250 until I drove the Ram. Then I was like ok maybe Ill consider another manufacturer. And hey all the little things he complained about not having like the leather stearing wheel and dampened tailgate... all come standard on the Ram Big Horn addition. And no issues with hooking up safety chains. Ram did it right. Rams big horn is their level 2 package just like Fords XLT. O and no matter how much you outfit a truck level 2 package it doesn't come close to a Laramie or Fords Lariat. You jump a fence between a level 2/3 package. I would make the argument that you could outfit a level 3 package (Laramie/Lariat) close to a level 4/5 and you could outfit a level 1 (XL/Tradesman) to be closer too a level 2.

@OGL iaDL No you don't. The 2500 gets only the 68RFE and the lower rated 6.7, while the 3500 gets either the same 68RFE + 6.7 or the full output 6.7 hooked up to the Aisin for some extra cash. It's been that way since forever. You don't get the Aisin with the 2500 suspension. And the 68RFE is just fine if you don't drive like a maniac. It's not there for you to tow, not hoon; that kind of behaviour will wreck a AS69RC before long, no difference. It just won't last forever like the Aisin, but when the time comes eventually to replace the 68RFE, it's got one major advantage over the AS69RC in that you can opt for a built 68RFE instead, which will walk all over any Aisin you can get your hands on.

That’s my initial point, if all of these videos are called “dude I love or hate my ride” and all the thumbnails have “love or hate” but we only see the ones that love their vehicles, then why call it the way it is? I would like to see owners who don’t love their vehicles and explain why, they bring as much of a valued opinion and feedback to the community as the ones who state they love their ride

how about I like my ride? I've owned MOPAR since 90 and my current truck is a F350 DRW. Nice truck, but has it's issues. If Ram would have had a truck that could pull what I needed at the time, I would have bought another Ram in a heartbeat, even with all the recalls.

We have f350 diesel crew cabs with cranes and reading boxes at work. I haven't seen 1 that has gone over 10k miles without going back to ford for repairs. Several complete engines blown and Tons of egr and regen issues. My 6.0 excursion looks bulletproof compared to these new diesel engines

The 6.0 is good just fix the nagging issues like the EGR and do the regular maintenance your good to go. I'm going to eventually sell off my 6.0 only gets 12.5 mpg its F350 crew cab srw 4x4 I've owned the truck for 7 years. Diesel fuel in Western Canada is 5.32 a US gallon Canadian. Do an oil change myself using motor craft filters and Rotella T6 is 400 dollars. The company truck I drive is a 2013 F-350 crew cab 4x4 dually 6.2 powered gets the fuel mileage, maintenance is cheap. I'm going with a 6.2 gas truck no questions asked.

I don't know much about trucks but as a 20 year old electrician I kinda have an idea about all those little bells and trinkets. The automatic windows and heated seats, and the cameras are all great things to have but common sense tells me that some of that stuff will go bad in 5-7 years. The backup camera is nice only for hooking up a trailer(I turn my head when I back up.) I assume trucks don't resell very well when a camera is out and one window no longer extends/retracts.

And Cummins is ALWAYS making improvements to maintenance items to make them better. Ford def. does RIDE BETTER hands down. Ford should have let Cummins put their name on the valve covers back in the 80's and Ford would OWN the truck industry, and everyone else would be selling compact cars instead!! The ram had lag?? I’ve always felt like the Cummins straight 6 always had a quicker big hit of torque than the V8 diesels. I’ve spent a lot of time in a Duramax hauling cattle. The V8 really shines when climbing a grade at 80mph and maintaining speed. The 6 felt like it had more getting up and going power but won’t run a load of cows 80mph up a hill. I like them both! Don’t buy the new 2020 gmc diesel if you snow Plow. I bought a 3500 denali with snow Plow prep. The first time plowing I get a check engine light apparently the slow Plow blocks so air flow sensor and turns on the light which puts it in a limp mode which enables possibly the lower but also the remote starter. So now I have a diesel in winter I can’t remote start. Also I had to take off the tailgate to put in a salter. GM doesn’t have any plugs like the used to to block off the power tailgate wires and the back up camera wires. So I had to tape them so they don’t corrode with the salt here. The big kicker is because I unplugged these which is common on a Plow truck the entire camera system now doesn’t work. These are 2 things I bought the Denali for. Gm can’t and won’t fix either issue and I have a fleet of trucks from Gm. Looks like I’ll have to go to ford.

It has snow Plow prep on it so it’s for plowing. Get your game up and you can have one too don’t hate on me because I can. That is such a loser thing for you to say Lmao. I guess we all can’t be Alpha males.

I also live in Colorado. That's why I really like these videos. I need a three quarter ton truck. Gas or diesel? I've towed with the both. I thought the gas did ok. My trailer is almost a 1000 lbs heavier. I really don't want to pay $10000 for a daily commute truck and tow only in the summer. I do love the diesel power.

If I am recalling correctly both the Cummins and Duramax trucks come with the auxiliary heater as standard, on every trim. Ford it is something you have to option.

I have experience with both Ford diesel and RAM diesel. I tow horses a few times a year 2k miles round trip. The ram gives 11.6 mpg/ford 8.2 towing and 26/22 respectively empty. Ram serviceability and repairs are way easier. You get way better interior on the ram for less money too.

Price is one of the biggest details with a new truck & grandpa can’t say what he paid? Should’ve just told him to go home & get another guy. That ruined the video.

Would love to tell you the pros and cons of my 19 3500 ho limited. I do tow daily skid steer, 5th wheel, flatbeds, and smaller trailers. Also why dogs and door lock switches can leave you stranded!! I live only 10 min from boulder so a lot of mountain towing and flat land experiences. Let me know!

I'd love to have that '99 with the 6.8 V10 and 4.30 rear end.

Similar to me; went from a '99 V-10 with 4.30 gears and 5-speed manual to a '16 6.7 Power Stroke. Still have and still love my '99, but the Power Stroke makes me giggle when I'm loaded down with camper and 3-place enclosed snowmobile trailer; I can run up the pass at whatever speed I'm comfortable with and the truck rarely drops out of 6th. (But if I was buying in '20, I'd look real hard at the Godzilla; with the hp/tq numbers and 10-speed trans, it would likely suffice and the cost of entry/ownership would be easier on my wallet.)

I'm seeing a lot of "how much did he pay for it." "Must have paid sticker" speculation. I'm not sure many people understand how a dealer buys a vehicle. The vehicles on the dealer lot are not owned by the dealer. In the case of the dealer I bought from - they had about $30M in vehicles in stock. Dealers can't afford that kind of money, so the vehicles are owned by a floor plan (finance) company. The longer the unit sits on the lot, the more the dealer has to sell the vehicle for to offset the floor plan charges. If you order a truck, the floor plan charge is essentially $0 as it is a pre-sold vehicle. I own a 2019 F350, dually, crew cab. The sticker on the vehicle was right at $86K. I paid $75.3K including tax (about $1200), title, and license fees. My buying price was $200 over the dealer invoice price. However, that is NOT what they paid for the vehicle as the dealer gets "holdback" - about 3% of the MSRP from the manufacturer, and then what ever additional incentives and dealer discounts, volume pricing, etc. are available from the manufacturer. At a minimum the dealer made: $2580 (hold back) + $200 + ???? (other incentives) for spending about 2 hours with me when I ordered the truck and covering their overhead costs. When you deduct overhead and other sales costs, the dealer probably netted about $1500 profit on a $74.1K sale or 2% (plus additional monies from manufacturer to dealer incentives). Dealers make more from the service department and on used vehicles than on a new vehicle.
