    I almost expect Toyota to know this and do this deliberately given the weird logistical climate we live in these days. They know others are trying to go big to try and sell more units for economies of scale, but Toyota knows that can bite them in the butt if parts suppliers or your manufacturing has sudden changes. Toyota is always conservative, and I bet they'll maintain their profit margins despite selling fewer units and while having a more stable throughput.

    @@tropicthndr I disagree. I have owned all brands. I went Toyota about 10 years ago and I would never go back to Chevy or Ford. If I were to buy anything besides a Tacoma I would maybe buy the frontier. The price on Toyota is higher because they are reliable and they hold their value. Chevy and Ford make halfway decent full size trucks but I wouldn't touch their small trucks with a 10 foot pole. How many older s10 or rangers do you see on the road? Chevy has never made a good small truck. They are all junk. Ford made some decent rangers with the 4.0 that are still on the road but I would argue that there is more Tacoma's out there. You're paying for reliability. Yeah the canyon, Colorado and ranger might have more bang for the buck but I guarantee they will be in the shop more and you will be lucky if you get 200k out of them. I work in the steel industry and get shit all the time for owning Toyotas. I just laugh because I know when I go to sell them they will still be worth money and I won't be losing my ass. You get what you pay for. Toyota believes in building reliable vehicles and I'll be sticking with them until they don't.

    @@SiXiam Because it wasn't made for CA and CO tech douches. It doesn't cost $60,000 for a good off road truck. Nissan Frontiers are extremely reliable, always have been. Because nobody wants an 3k dollar seat with it's own iron man built in suspension. 24 and up Tacoma's will be driven from silicon valley jobs to the beach or to a KOA but they sure will have $15,000 worth of overpriced offroading stuff slapped on. The new Tacoma is basically the California import scene from the 1990s all over again, all style, little substance. Toyota quality isn't even what it used to be. They found a new and younger audience who doesn't know why Toyota became so well loved in the first place. One who just wants to throw money away. The new Tacoma is poser-mobile extraordinaire. The worst part is this shit is going to ruin the 4Runner too. Telling that re-sale value is so highly mentioned by the new granola/kale Toyota fanbase. You guys won't stick around to find out about reliability, you will trade it in at 60,000 miles and buy the next poser truck. I don't intend to sell the Frontier. I will give it to my son after it's payed off. Nissan is keeping it legitimate.

But when it came time to buy back in 2022, I couldn't justify spending more for less (specs at least) on a Tacoma generation that was going to be updated (same thing with the Ranger). When I saw the new Tacoma, I thought they did an incredible job on its redesign and fixed a lot of the gripes regarding the old Tacoma. But the price for these things is absolutely insane now. I thought I got a good deal and a better overall dollar value for the Frontier against the Tacoma back in 2022, now I definitely am thankful. These Tacomas are great, no doubt, but the prices here are outrageous.

    I would take a truck that is not fast 0-60 but reliable and long lasting any day over one that is super fast and does not last as long. Using Militec -1 it goes into the metal for military Heliciopters to protect from oil pressure loss in a battle.I was made to save the expenive HUI and soldiers on board. I have tested that and , Amsoil and Marvel Mystery oil in combinations to reduce friction which changes the noise and hp and torque significantly. According to this video I raised my engine to a turbo efficency which is wild. I would like these guys to test Militec -1 4 ounces and wait 30 days and then test and do it in 3 months and 6th months. Now I also over ride the trans and use the syncro shifter manual to get to that 9.3 / 0 - 60.

I have added Mopar Rock-Sliders and numerous other bash plates from Chief Products (Australia), and a DEF line protection plate. The Front Air-Dam is very easily removable. The top edge of the air-dam pops in and out from the main plastic bumper cover with a gentle tug, after I have removed 5 large Plastic Rivet-style fasteners with a simple 1/4 twist by hand. It could not be any easier, unless I had my passenger do it for me instead. The "removed" air-dam sits most of the time inside the screened porch at my Cabin in Northern Michigan, while I am off-roading in my Grand Cherokee to get to my hunting and fishing spots. Suffice to say that if I ever had a Tacoma with that stupid piece of plastic below the front bumper, I would remove it the very 1st thing and never put it back on. The only benefit that I can see of the Tacoma's air-dam is that it can be removed without cutting into anything, and then can then be chucked straight into the Recycling Bin.

    The rear seat legroom and lack of rear amenities really kills any of my drive to buy one. I do like the new front seats but i have two dogs and kids might be on the way. So that rear leg room is really a key for me. Plus i remember growing up with vehicles that had now leg room in the back and i think it literally created a phobia lol. Sorry but until Toyota gets the rear leg room and rear storage right like the fords i wont switch.

    A great comparison between the 2023 & 2024 Tacoma. I'd love to see an honest comparison of the towing power between the 2023 V6 and the 2024 4-cyl turbo. Can the new 4-cyl match the towing power of the previous V6?

  • @shitloveaduck

    @shitloveaduck

    The 4 cylinder will definitely exceed the V6 in towing. It’s just a matter of the torque curve and 8 speed vs 6 speed!! Look at the Ranger 2.3!! It even outperformed the 3.6 V6 in the GM twins that tows well with over 30 more hp! It’s just physics in this area. Greater torque, wider torque band AND more gears.

    @@zdr5191 - they have had some issues initially with the Tundra, but think,,, if Ford can have 3.5 and 2.7s out there with 300,000+ miles on the original turbo,,, how long will Toyota’s turbos last once perfected. I have seen many Ford work trucks with very high mileage with few to no repairs, then there’s the occasional disaster. Even my buddy that owns the dealership can’t figure it out. It’s been like that for over 40 years in his experience. He says every brand has the problem, including Toyota. I had a 2014 Tundra that was the case!! In the USA I would have used the lemon law buyback, but that doesn’t exist in Canada. It was an expensive experience that put me off of Toyota, especially with how I was treated. I took perfect care of that truck and only towed 7,000 lbs with it. Like I say, they all have lemons, just some more than others!! Haha. Toyota is still a better product usually.

    If you are forcing the crew cab on buyers with a shorter bed then the backseat should have enough room for an average adult at least. An extended cab with a long bed for me is the ideal midsize truck as far as usefulness unless you have kids that you need to take with you often.

    @@ALMX5DP that's absolutely right. You cant expect too much from a midsize. It will fit someone who isnt large back there. My wife is 5'3 and she fit back there with my infant son fine. But the carseat had to be in the middle and not behind me. Too cramped for my seating position. So when we had more kids it wouldn't fit anymore so we upgraded to an SUV. Those backseats, and any midsize truck will not accommodate rear facing carseats comfortably

    I just drove several new 2024's at the dealer training event in Florida a few weeks back. There is no doubt that the styling is on point, and the off-road capability and new drivetrain exceeds the previous gen IMO. I spent many years not only working for the brand but racing for them as well. I am a loyal Toyota owner and have been for over 30 years. Toyota is a fantastic company and it is hard to not like the new Tacoma, especially The TRD PRO and the Trail Hunter being exceptional. However, as much as I liked these trucks the price point is a no go for me. It is obvious that all new truck prices are ridiculous going into 24' but 50-60k for a Tacoma 😳

    Deleting 2 cylinders and adding a turbo is a recipe to turn a once reliable vehicle to an unreliable one. Ask any Toyota mechanic and they will tell you how many new tundras come in for repairs due to a faulty turbo. I expect it will be the same for the new Tacoma.
