Here's What Happens When You Road Trip to Vegas in a Homemade Self-Driving Car
After a long week of driving fast cars and blowing stuff up in the Mojave Desert, it was time for Hello World's Ashlee Vance to get the hell out of dodge. Naturally, he chose tech wunderkind, George Hotz as his co-pilot for the getaway. His other co-pilot? That would be Hotz's self-driving car, hacked together in his San Francisco garage. Buckle up. You're in for a ride!

Hotz is the kinda guy you can’t hire cause he is not motivated by money.

You should join the commai discord. I like him too, he seems to content with just doing enough to maintain a decent living considering that he lives in expensive San Diego

2:11 "...self driving carrrr" :) So full of himself, and rightly so! :D
Sue him?! Hire him, at least for R&D.
im so slow lmao just realized someone's in the backseat
1:34 the dude got scared for his life :D
Can there be driving technology for people with occasional seizure. It will change lives for so many people.
Phone cameras are getting better and better so not a long standing problem i hope ;)
Just throw a grad ND filter onto the lens, boom problem solved
he should use cameras with more iso capabilities, they see better at night

the tech works fine at night. sunrise ad sunset are the problem
I should say that's impressive
I love this a lot. Very cool that he has done this himself, though one part I think is kinda funny. "This cell phone! This cell phone camera is all you need!" (Hit's evening day) ....apparently not. :/

Apperently he shows with this cameras you dont need to listen to all the bullshit the car industry tells you but ofcourse light is a problem for cell phone cameras :)
I would love to see him making a lot of money with it showing the companis looking down on him he will beat them whenever he wants to.
this guy rocks!!
Thats hot
Unfortunately his technology has been locked up and he has been told to cease and desist. What a fucked up world we have allowed to be made. Woe is man and unworthy of gifts

Lucky he is allowed to use it now, because it has a camera to monitor if the driver is paying attention.
Does it have sensors when your driving by your self

Only cameras self driving is CRAZY!!!!!

He looks like a villain building a robot army to destroy the world..
Use Huawei phone camera to see at night. 😂
So does he need a license?
Infared camera maybe

The sun emits infared light so it is still a problem
I’d never rely on cameras depending on light conditions

Makes a lot more sense having a driver actually engaged in the task of actually driving as in this video's example, rather than some half-baked "autopilot" scheme?

I think the point is to eventually full-bake it. Not sure though, I'm terrible at baking.

Diderotronics "Diderotronics":The creator in this video seems to actually be intent on the task of actually "baking" a better eventual end product, as opposed to other "bakers" of similar products with similar, at least stated, end goals, who seem more intent on filling out the paperwork for ever more government tax breaks, subsidies, and grants, rather than actually producing a "fully baked" product that's really ready for the pubic, instead of one that had to be irresponsibly hyped in the marketplace.

Why doesn't he just use the Sony A7S II for the low light conditions?
@justinjones1644
7 жыл бұрын
One, he wants to keep it affordable. Two, it's just the fact that it's still way bright outside but the road has all the shadows of dawn/dusk on it. If you were to increase the exposure to try and correct that, you'd just get washed out image.
@Giantcowfilms
7 жыл бұрын
However, the A7S's superior sensor will offer more dynamic range, helping to keep the entire scene within a manageable exposure as well as offer better night performance. I'm not sure keeping the cost down is safe at all. Besides, if your dealing with a car, a couple grand for safe self-driving modification is not bad.
@JoeCnNd

Because the a7s is better in low light.
@theoneatyourdoor87

Not low light, high contrast. Do you understand what that means?
@iKingRPG

The camera can see fine it low light, it's the dynamic range and maybe lens that's the problem
