Thank you for all these videos! I bought a house that I think they drywalled drunk, every seam and corner is a new nightmare, drywall hung horizontal and vertical with angles and ceilings all done bad and then some weird minimal texture to boot! After 3 renovations I thought I could handle it, but drywall is a true science and an art. You're an amazing teacher and I hope you're feeling well these days!

I had been using Drydex for the holes, but finally (found) usg at Home Depot. Is there a difference with the dust control? Is that one ok to use for corner bead board...hot mud seems ideal ... but nervous I may not get it perfect.

I dont drywall specifically for a living but i do a lot of it myself. I stopped using the Green finishing boxes. I found theres no point after working with a couple drywall guys on a huge job. I use the quickset 20,45,90 for prefills. Yellow box of taping mud. Blue box of Lightweight all purpose for the rest of the coats to finish.

Thanks for the videos, working on a room now, not a pro, and your videos have been , and still are very informative. In Canada there is a mud that I have found called machine mud. It's a lightweight all purpose intended for machine applications. But it works very well by hand, really good adhesion for taping.

Sand any of the paint that you were going to get drywall mud on with very coarse grit sandpaper. You’re trying to remove 30% or more of the sheen and give it scratches to hang onto.

If I want to add a Santa Fe or Mediterranean type wall finish, What product would you recommend? I removed old popcorn off the ceiling and has a rough texture left with some old mud. I plan to smooth it out before texturing. I was thinking maybe 20 min mud with some wood glue mixed in it as my first coat, followed by plus3, instead of two coats of plus3. What do you think?

@@ThatKiltedGuyDIY I want to use hot mud because I want to fill large holes, get it set quicker, and strong bond. Addition of wood glue would make it stick better and cause less problems down the road; any wood or PVA glue gives good adhesion to old paint and repairs.

When I use the Plus 3 to repair prior bad tape jobs that have cracked or lifted I often encounter an issue when building out the joint onto previously painted surfaces. Several small air bubbles often show up as the compound dries. I have heard that they show up because the moisture in the compound can’t absorb into the surface of new drywall so they show up as small pin holes as it dries. Have you ever encountered this when skim coating over painted surfaces and how do you combat this? Will gladly watch one of your prior videos if one exist.
