Sweet coin! I've been thinking about adding a few shipwreck coins to my collection, just always afraid of finding out its not real down the road. The history that comes with any shipwreck coin is what keeps my interest high.

I just bought a certified one in a wooden box out of an antique store for 70 bucks. I reckon I got mine for a good deal.

Probably no way to establish it is an el cazador coin, but looks legit (I have many). I think it is a nicer version, worth about $200

thanks I just posted a video of an NGC certified one for comparison.

Neat coin! I would assume that they wouldn’t send it back “Details-environmental damage, cleaned” because of the shipwreck designation?

Good question Brian - I saw Ebay shows some NGC certified with XF Details Sea Salvaged or AU Details Saltwater Damage . But those might be older ones - looks like now they just indicate Genuine El Cazador with the NGC Shipwreck Certification.

@@MinnesotaJoe They only do that if provenance can be proven. Otherwise, they will put "shipwreck artefact" or something similar.

It should weight 27 grams. Where did you get it? That reale doesn't look like it was in saltwater for 200 years.
