Your right Herbie. Where is that America? What has happened to our possibilities? As Wayne said, our creativity is stifled by our leaders in government, in schools, in work, in life. Free flow of our imagination will bring on the possibilities. Set it all free. All of it. No fear. Thanks for the music.

These two musicians are incredible. They began as avant-garde musicians and they never capitulated. These two geniuses of American music know that outside the United States, in poor countries, the imagination is strong, perhaps higher. Hancock and Shorter drink of their own cultural roots and root of other cultures without ever making concessions. They are the true art of this country. (They laugh of mediocre musicians who become millionaires repeating a boring pattern). They are the musical conscience of the United States.

Raoul Montano - Wrong - they began as bebop musicians flirted with avant-garde for awhile and then totally capitulated and sold out losing their gift and creativity in a process. THEY now are those fat cats who are repeating a boring pattern. I haven't heard any real jazz from these cats for decades! Sad........

What an idiotic comment from a nobody. Wayne and Herbie played EVERYTHING music could offer. Your closemindedness to Brasilian, funk, r&b, straightahead, Post bop, neo classical is so apparent. Have you even checked out Wayne’s band of the last 20 years? It’s quite avant-grade as some listeners would describe it. If anything was sold out it was your mind

vova47 what you call real jazz is just old jazz. Avant-garde in music, like in art just means the aesthetic of a certain era now, too. Truly creative musicians are always pushing forward. As people like Herbie and Davis did.

Correction! African American Classical music. There is a huge spiritual expression that comes only out of The African American experience and imagination. Ahhh

@@ignaciomoran6706 Have you seen a Herbie show recently? I saw him feb 2019, it was basically noodling with double diminished chords thrown in at odd moments, lol.

I'm glad Herbie has his Buddhist practice to keep him in touch with Wayne now that Shorter is further along the Continuum of the Constant...

I appreciate Wayne's opinions, mainly because he's completely crazy. Herbie's just repeating some random shit he heard back from the only time he watched a news channel 17 years ago.

Herbie never just “repeats random shit.” You night think he has simplistic or naive thoughts (I don’t think so, they’re just vague) but he speaks them completely sincerely and from the heart. If you knew anything about him you’d know he’s the last person in the world to just repeat opinions he heard on TV.

Herbie is articulate and brilliant while Wayne is a bad ass flaming genius. I really like his energy. I'm enjoying his various interviews. Watch the "bring the book Wayne, bring the book" one about Miles. Fantastic.
