Left or right leaning, if you make an effort to hear what he says you'll hear that he never mentions our leaders and that his comments are futuristic. A "trans-valuation of values" as we move into the techno-era using the "established direction of progress." Our leaders are not the political parties we want to think them to be; our leaders are the producers of that which we "need to waste" and we are incapable of understanding how manipulated we are by consumerism. Our leaders are hiding in the TV, advertising, movies, (new) media, and internet (TAMMI): "the radical redirection of progress."

We are limited biologically. It is naturally that the social constructions are continuously mutating within the same limit range. The secret might be to live a decent life with so large quantity of unaware persons around us. From 1844 until recently we had the dominant religion as the "money" now the emerging religion is "data". Money is no longer a good instrument for plutocrats...💵💴💶💷

Marcuse is shrewd and down-to-earth. He is hampered by the capitalist work ethic. Folk are proud to describe themselves as "hard-working", regardless of the value of their work. Their status (value) is measured by the money they make, not by any real achievement.

geoffrey n HILL ... Who elected you Sir to speak for the "folk" as you quaintly describe the people of America? Speak for yourself. Are you personally hampered by the "Work Ethic" too? In past history we used to hunt for our food, now we create employment to survive, it's an age old idea. Are you a "lay-about?" Maybe you are a man only capable of parroting the manipulative writings and words of those who hate America. Perhaps you are an anti-America American who prefers hand outs and taking the money other people trusted to the government. Why don't you go elsewhere and show others how to succeed in life. That tax money got into the pocket of your University employed Marcuse and he used it to cause as much havoc to the American way of life as he can. You seem hand in glove with that idea . Your ridiculous and disparaging remark is all I have to go on as to your character. Words have meanings. Leave people to live their lives in peace.

Marcuse was an incredibly intelligent man, very on point and an excellent writer; a lot of what he says is undeniably true on the surface. But there's something more going on here, lurking, as it were, bin the background; and very carefully designed to be overlooked. And that's what's frightening. It's about getting people to become willing slaves to one's own thought system. Ultimately, then, the few people in power at the top (oh the irony) have the ability to take _the world as a whole_ and flip it over like a pancake. In essence, then, this is a service to self, or negative, or, evil philosophy. Nothing more, nothing less. It's a disguise. Referring to Marx now, "man is his OWN center"; and "how do we go about killing God" ... he thought. Well, one way is to wear a really soft sweater, and hang out with young people to influence them. How could you not love him? He's trying to liberate us! Know your enemy! One must appreciate the power of falsity. To embrace falsity, to know it, to use it, gives a power which is most great. So thinkers of this ideology are constantly saying the exact reverse (diametrical opposition) of their _true_ intention. Something curiously fruitful happens when you (viz Marcuse) accuse the other of the thing you yourself are doing, in that very moment, but would conceal very carefully. The nicer it looks, the nicer it sounds, the more power to attract it has. Evil's nature is like a black hole that sucks everything into it. Yet only the willing can be enslaved. This is a key aspect of what is the Luciferian philosophy. Free will is paramount, so make it look really positive.

"By totalitarian, I use the term fully aware this might violate certain taboos. We are used to applying this term only to, first, fascist/Nazi society, then the communist society. That is to say, we are used to applying the term 'totalitarian' to societies under a more or less terroristic dictatorship with a one party system with a more or less terroristic enemy nation of all opposition. I believe that such a confined restricted use of the term 'totalitarian' is itself ideological." So, let me go ahead and redefine the term completely and use it as a rhetorical weapon to criticize society, thereby fooling young minds into thinking capitalist societies like America are fundamentally evil and need to be destroyed. Nothing sinister in that. "By 'totalitarian' I mean the constellation of situations in which the private as well as public existence of man--of the individual--is controlled. Is exposed to standardized required ways of behavior, standardized imposed values, standardized imposed needs." So you're completely redefining the term "totalitarian" to mean not terroristic dictatorships but to refer to any society that imposes a set of rules that individuals must follow if they are to be accepted by that society at large. Folks, Marcuse is not critiquing capitalism. His crosshairs are aimed squarely at the very composition of humanity itself and the way humanity organizes itself at its most fundamental level since the beginning of time. By critiquing the very basis of any societal order, Marcuse reveals his true intention--a desire for absolute chaos. This man and the gender/race/sex/etc. studies departments spawned by his ideas need to be relegated to the dustbins of history. Good riddance.

I think you're being a bit harsh. If you'd like to know what he's talking about, take a look at this clip from the Matrix and you'll get a sense of it. kzread.info/dash/bejne/rHlrsq2LmtXPlJc.html We are inundated by a corporate-political system that drives over-consumption and waste to the point of destroying the planet. Perhaps to your point, this is nothing new. Civilizations have, throughout all of human history, done the same sorts of things, yet not at this scale, nor with the sort of blind ignorance that seems to plague this culture. The problem is failing to recognize what's happening, or if one does, doing anything about it. To see it necessitates dissent; it means getting off your ass and waking up. Otherwise you just keep working, consuming and sticking your face in the stupid little plastic and glass device you carry in your pocket.

Take YOUR blindfold off, oh also your silly covid mask and wake up - you have been lied to and did not defend your country. This creep you defend has assisted the totalitarians to take over what was a great society, using your own children against you. If you are young then you will be next, the Left always eats it's own and murders it's own children. Mind you own business, leave people to live their life as they want. Go to another country if you don't like it where you are, learn about the world, learn that America is a great country and that there are worse countries in this world and extremely cruel people. Go. Go. See how America has a limited population, unlike many other countries who prefer to live as they do. Go lecture them. Go, Go to China, tell them about the clean water and seas of America, the boundless plains, the sweep of untouched mountains , the clean blue skies, the fact that people can choose to go to a job or leave a job. At present, in February 2021 it's quite plain you and your kind have ushered in a totalitarian fake government and locked down the people in their houses under a pretext. So you are now hand in glove with the CCP, Chinese Communist Party whom they admire, they are hoping to wipe out voting like the CCP has done and Utopia (for them) is just around the corner. ....and you try to use a fictional story called The Matrix, made in the American Hating Hollywood propaganda mill, as an example of your knowledge of what is happening in America. In order to overcome feudalism... some people have to critique it first... capitalism wasn't discovered by the "entrepreneurial spirit" it was won through series of struggles to overcome aristocracy and feudalism. Humans aren't at the end stage of development in terms of society and economy system, not by a long shot. Capitalism, like slavery and other human created and institutionalized horrors can be overcome as well
