Sun been down for days A pretty flower in a vase A slipper by the fireplace A cello lying in its case Soon she's down the stairs Her morning elegance she wears The sound of water makes her dream Awoken by a cloud of steam She pours a daydream in a cup A spoon of sugar sweetens up And she fights for her life as she puts on her coat And she fights for her life on the train She looks at the rain as it pours And she fights for her life as she goes in a store With a thought she has caught by a thread She pays for the bread and she goes Nobody knows Sun been down for days A winter melody she plays The thunder makes her contemplate She hears a noise behind the gate Perhaps a letter with a dove Perhaps a stranger she could love And she fights for her life as she puts on her coat And she fights for her life on the train She looks at the rain as it pours And she fights for her life as she goes in a store With a thought she has caught by a thread She pays for the bread and she goes Nobody knows Nobody knows And she fights for her life as she puts on her coat And she fights for her life on the train She looks at the rain as it pours And she fights for her life as she goes in a store Where the people are pleasantly strange And counting the change as she goes Nobody knows Nobody knows Nobody knows

This is still one of the most beautiful pieces of art I've ever seen. I watched it religiously after I broke up with my fiance and though listening to it caused me to experience painful emotions, it was a beautiful part of my life during those very dark days. She married a new man within two years and now has a son and a daughter. I never married, and I've fathered no children, but I have found my happiness, regardless!

My mom used to watch this with my sister and me when we were little. As in really little; this came out when I was about 3. We watched it every single night and my mind associates it with those simpler times. Since then, my parents got divorced, my mothers mental illness became clear and very painful both to watch and because of what it causes her to do to us, presumably without even realizing. Since then there's been trauma and tears - so many tears. I keep on forgetting the name of this video but it's just such a vivid memory and I always manage to somehow find it again. I love it so much.

My friend sent this to me when I was in the middle of a servere depression. It is so accurate. Depression depletes you of all happiness, energy, and hope. Everything becomes a struggle when you don’t have something to look forward to. Everything hurts. Breathing just fills you with more emptyness. It’s hard to describe to someone who hasn’t experienced it themselves. I remember one morning waking up and looking at these cactus seeds I had planted in my window still and seeing that the first small cactus had started sprouting. I started crying hysterically. It seemed like an act of kindness from the plant - like it responded to the care I had given it. It was such a small thing but it touched me deeply. This song makes me think of that. The way you desperately look for things that bring you a glimmer of joy or just a sign that things will be better. And how that can somehow be a beautiful thing.
I saved this song in a youtube playlist 10 years ago. For some reason it popped in my head the other day. I could not for the life of me remember the title. All I could remember was the music video, the artists first name being someyhing like "Orion" and the word "she," which is not helpful at all. I searched and scrolled through all my old playlists and FINALLY found it because of the video image and the artist name Oren, which is similar to what I remembered being Orion? Hah! Love it. It's just such a peaceful beautiful deep song. So happy to have found it again! P.S. It's ironic that the song just popped in my head, because I have just recovered from a period of Seasonal Affective Disorder ska SAD, which is a form of depression caused by daylight shifts, and I never realized this song is about depression until I read the comments. If that's not my subconscious or fate bringing this dong back to me after ten years, then I dony know what is.

On a shallow note, that woman is beautiful. And her hair~
For some unexplainable reason, this song and music video makes me feel like going to somewhere very beautiful
This song will always be a favorite of mine. I was introduced to this song two years ago by a good friend of mine at a time when everything felt exciting in life. Before I ever looked into the meaning of it- it seemed happy- the lighting, the soft melody, the smiling girl. I interpreted it this way, because I saw life this way. Whenever listening to this song, it always made me happy because it reminded me of that time in my life. Two years later, things are different now in that I still feel this happiness, but it isn't as readily available as it once was. A lot of my days are spent similar to this girl- fighting to accomplish the mundane things in life. On the outside, a lot of us can make it look like everything is going great in life, but in reality, a lot of us are fighting these internal struggles like the girl in this video portrays.
Like so many other comments, I remember seeing this years ago and it stuck with me, even though I didn’t know what it was about and I still don’t. It sounds to me like it’s about carrying extraordinary pain or hardship through an ordinary world that has no idea what’s going on inside. But it’s also about being seen-the singer/songwriter is an entity in the scene, one who sees, knows, and admires her when she isn’t aware she’s being seen.

I still love it until now, more that I felt and can relate to the emotional value of this beautiful song.*

I chose this song because it is as simple and complicated as life should be. You both are creative and when life becomes crazy as it does, create something you love, and know that the hard times will pass as they always do. I love you and I'm proud of you both.
