Hidaya is so sweet but the firing convo was paaainful girl you gotta be careful what you say 😫 culinary industry is literally cut throat and ESPECIALLY in New York. You’ll get 27382728+ more burns and cuts and it’s just the way it is. You put a gauze and bandage on and keep going. And taking that much time off work then going out with your friends is not a good look even if it’s life. Just don’t post it on social media 😂 - they can replace you in a SECOND and owe you nothing but hopefully a good reference. And talking shit about them online will not do that for you or look good with future employers 😢 it’s not good with any job, but especially culinary. You gotta live, breathe and bleed culinary if you want to do it professionally. It’s a tough pill to swallow but you gotta take it for what it is if you want to continue

I worked at a daycare facility for 2 years DURING THE PANDEMIC. was told on multiple occasions that bc I was taking classes to get my CDA I’d be promoted from assistant teacher to lead teacher. I was demoted THREE TIMES. So im working 40+ hours a week covering peoples shifts on top of mine, AND taking 5-8 hours of classes in the evenings & on the weekends my lead teacher position kept being offered to other teachers. It was being given to teachers who worked half the hours, called off multiple times a week, and were not getting their CDA. I had heard on multiple occasions from multiple other employees that our lead director did not like me which is why she wasn’t offering me the lead position. When I put my two weeks in I mentioned how I did not appreciate being demoted so often. I'm sorry but if you're calling out for sick days multiple times, and taking mental health break days, while not getting along with anyone. Yeah you will get fired. Frankly you were there for three months and didn't make the cut, for obvious reasons. Hope she realizes she wont get the same opportunity to get into another restaurant like that with out connections. Cause that is the only reason she got the chance prior. Her parents paid tons of money for her schooling and with that gives you opportunities to work at higher end restaurants like the one she was at. And she seemingly threw it away, cause she was down and sick some days, and couldnt suck it up.

she handles food, she shouldnt be going into work sick, that violates health code. this place sounds abusive (and most kitchens for that matter) hence the need for a mental health day. She deserves better, as do her coworkers. I hope she’s able to start her own thing with the knowledge she’s gained.
