Her Biggest Fish | We Beat the Odds Ice Fishing in -10° F
We spend three days out on the ice getting out of the cabin during the dark months and in hopes of landing a meal for dinner. The Alaskan scenery never disappoints and we do not come home empty handed. Arielle lands her biggest fish through the ice, a 20 inch Rainbow trout!

I could feel Arielle's excitement. I was laying on my bed resting my back spasms and I said out loud, "Eric, grab the fish, Eric grab the fish"!!! My beloved husband got up out of his recliner, walked to the bedroom door to ask me....who was Eric...!!! LOL. 😁😁😂😂🤣🤣😄😄😆😆😉😉

I think a lot of people were like I, shouting “Eric, grab the line! Get the fish! The fish, Eric!!!” Way to go, Arielle.
You’re such a beautiful soul Arielle. I could see you want to cry over how overwhelmed and thankful you were for your catch. Happy new year to you both xoxo

Me too! There’s something very relaxing about it!
That's why as they say " it's called fishing and not catching". Beautiful trout , congratulations !!!!
To be humbled by your prey is truly a gift of god
This is my number one favorite channel. I love your lifestyle and appreciation for this beautiful land. I'm old enough to be your mother and yet you've taught me a lot of things. You both work extremely hard but also take time to enjoy your lives. From the bottom of my heart.....thank you for sharing it all with us. Sending warmest regards from Ohio.
so glad he never grabbed the pole from you, u got it

Yes.....emotions are seen plainly on her lovely face. Saw the same joy when the lid of her perfectly baked Alaskan sourdough bread was removed in a prior video. Only one downside though; Arielle should never play poker.
The look on her face when she caught that huge fish is PRICELESS! Well done 👌👍 Also, notice how her voice changed to a low growl when she told her husband to grab the line? She was in no mood to lose that fish 😆
That under the ice shot was wicked!
Excellent footage guys. Loved seeing Arielle on the auger. Made us feel like we were there fishing with you. Oh and that feeling of serenity whilst riding the snow machine. Just like dirt bike riding in the forest, its a feeling you only experience when you actually do it... love you both...

Oh my gosh! I got caught up in the excitement of catching that trout! What a beauty!
I understand the feeling. When they are so beautiful and fight to live so hard, it's hard to keep them.

I hear ya. Then you get them in the frying pan and smell that garlic and butter. My mouth was watering the whole time. Nothing beats fresh fish you catch yourself. Yummmm yummm yummy!! Great catch, clean and cook. 😁👍🔥😺
I totally felt the emotion you felt when you caught that fish. It was a beaut for sure!
"What the hell is on there?" That line made me laugh! Congrats Ariel!
I found myself holding my breath during that catch! Wow! What a beautiful fish! Congrats Arielle!

I think she also said something like, "we aren't going to hold it if it doesn't come out of the water."
Arielle reminds me of me, being sad and not wanting to keep the gorgeous huge fish
A pretty lady that gets emotional over catching a fish! Eric, when I die, I hope I go where you are, because it MUST be Heaven!
It’s always great seeing denali when it’s clear. Driving the parks and as soon as you come into willow bam! There it is!

thats the way we ice fished in SD in the 50's. drug a shack out on the ice and fit 3 holes in it and kerosene heater. Good times.
10:58 the auger going through the ice was a wicked cool shot 😁👌
Wow! The fish, when it’s head came up through the ice, it was crazy! I felt so bad for Arielle though, the regret and joy

The under-ice shot!!!! OMG! I love that shot! You guys are improving the quality of your content so much! it is a joy to watch you guys and I have found myself waiting for the next video! that's awesome!. Happy New Year from Argentina. Fede
That shot going through the ice. Dope.
Awe! I teared up for you, Ariel! Yay!! That was such a raw and happy moment! Thank you for editing it so cleanly, Eric! Well done, both of you! I'm still grinning ear to ear!
The excitement you both had is awesome.....I feel better now, sounded like me when I catch a big fish lol
Happy New Year!! I really enjoy watching how the two of you work together. Continued blessings in 2021!
More outtakes in the future - "maybe next time" - fun
Hey and I hope all is well. Try using crushed white egg shells as an attractant for land locked sliver salmon and rainbow trout. Crush the white egg shells into small pieces and throw them down ice hole. As they slowly fall and flash they will draw in the fish. We all enjoy your youtube videos. Good luck fishing!
15:20 oh thats joy. So nice to share this moment with u guys
Ariel, you are something special. I have never seen anyone before be so disappointed at catching a monster rainbow!
I bought your calendar and the photos are beautiful!❤️ I hope you guys plan to make a 2022 calendar!
Love Arielle’s….”WTH ls on my line”?………you go girl!!
Ariel went fishing, but she got hooked. I took my son fishing, but to add to his enjoyment, I would hook a big fish and ask him to hold the rod while I tied my shoe (I was wearing cowboy boots). The second he felt that big tug he screamed, “Dad, I got one, I got one!” The priceless look on his face. You had that look.

Love it when rainbows get that winter purple... nice catch.
This is my all time favorite video. I've watched it so many times.. So natural. Pure joy.
Great to see yall give the Creator praise as you pulled that blessing up!🙂 Beautiful way to start the New Year! Happy New Year to yall!🥳
For the rest of your lives.. "Remember that time we caught the awesome trout? I'm going to watch the video again" :) Well done!
My husband and I laughed out loud at the process of getting the rainbow out of the water. Thanks for sharing
I grew up fishing 🎣 and I love it. My dad took me fish before I could walk . My favorite type of fishing is deep sea fishing. I taught my kids how to fish and they love it.
That was REALLY good, y'all! Looks like you got a new favourite lure! We've never been ice fishing and it looks... eh... cold? Fun? You guys are brave and lucky you didn't actually fall through the hole! Love how creative you are getting with the shots too.
We're from New Mexico and we descale, gut, flour(salt&pepper) and pan fry! So good!
Of all the beautiful shots in this video, I think my absolute favorite is the relatively slow descent at 10:58 past the thickness of the ice. Almost every other video plunging into a frozen lake rushes past that part, trying to get to the underwater stuff, and we never see what it actually looks like. It's only a couple of seconds long, but this one is a really good view of what the lake ice looks like. Thank you for sharing it!
beautiful rainbow trout. I'm amazed it's so pink. Thanks for showing the truth. you don't always get fish every time out. and that's another reason your so excited for when you do get one.
It would be great to indicate temperatures also in Celsius ... For many countries it is hard to understand Farenheit ! But it is a true small detail ! Great new year for both of You and and Than k you sio much for all your wonderful videos of 2020 ! Love to you from France and Bulgaria !
That is pretty sweet guys. Determination to keep going back out there paid off. Nice fish!!
I love watching Arielle do things shes hesitant about like drill the holes in the ice. They are just a super sweet couple and Eric is so respectful of Arielles journey, Love your channel.
They froze for 3 days and consider this fish more than worth it. This is why we love them.
Tip .. 3 days before and after a Full moon....... best for Fish'n smelt for bait & pike usually midway in the water column , tent in your future , heater , chairs ( WARM ) U 2 R Awesome . Take care. P.S. Ariel Well Done !! They get bigger Girl Keep at it !! ( hatchery trout / salmon usually have a clipped Adipose fin ! )
The fish is a paid actor....

Congrats, what a great Rainbow!!! Super job, D'Lish!!!
I hope the New Year treats you like this fishing trip.
If you're going to keep the fish a gaff helps a lot getting them out of the hole
Such a beautiful fish, and a beautiful soul who caught it. You truly appreciate the gift of life given for nourishment. Made me tear up seeing such thankfulness to nature.

May GOD bless you guys and keep you warm throughout this winter and all winters to come. LOVE to watch your videos as much as I loved Alaska which I visited twice back in the 90ties.
A nice sized female trout! Well done Arielle for hauling it in on those pipsqueak rods! With fish like that in the lake get some fly rods for summer. Then you see some action....Well done Arielle!
Such a beautiful trout. Please say thank you when you catch one to honor that it gave it’s life for you. 🦋❤️
That was great she is now forevermore hooked
Always love the photography and how you capture Alaska....especially loved the image of drilling in the ice!
She really likes winter scenery and big fish!
The original name for that red and white spoon was Daredevil. A true classic and that design will be catching fish and fishermen for centuries to come! Good stuff!
Congratulations to the both of you! Stay warm and thank you! Happy New Years to the both of you!
Beautiful fish guys .. I love when you put the bloopers at end... Maybe next time lol

Hey, watched this video again. What a huge rainbow trout. Love your fishing adventures. 3-6-2023
Oh my, when you held that fish like a baby, I got teary. Great job!
Beautiful places in Alaska, living there is just a fairy tale.
I've been thoroughly enjoying all of your videos and binge watch when I can. I love AK and have visited several times including a cruise to the Inside Passage and a flight to Barrow for a 24 hour visit. This video is my favorite....so many emotions! I almost cried with you Arielle....but the joy and the perseverance was the best! I was laughing and anxious and overjoyed when you finally pulled it through the hole. LOVE your videos and your lifestyle. If I ever get to AK again, I'll look you up!
What a gorgous Trout. Congrats, so glad you had that on film to share with all of us.
Rainbows are a cold water species. They are quite a bit more lively than warm water species like Pike. Beautiful trout and honest excitement. Good job A/E
