Thank you for this video! I’ve finally discovered the tool that’s really for me. I don’t have to waste time anymore setting up my Notion pages from scratch 😅

Hey Greg, just wanted to say thank you a ton for your video. I converted from obsidian a while ago because that got to be too complex for me trying to keep track of how to install and uninstall and configure and navigate all of the complexities that were there. Fortunately found HB not too long ago and determined it was the superior platform for me, except I have a learning curve ahead of me now do use it the way that I want. I’m in the process of trying to consume and digest training videos and yours help me probably more than most so I look forward to seeing new videos from you and going through all of your older ones as well to get me up to speed. Much success to you

Thank you for your video. I have have been trying to figure out a better way to refine my work process in order to better manage the balance between simplicity, planning, productivity and sheer overwhelm. I had heard about Heptabase for awhile, but had settled on a combination of Roam Research, Milanote and TeuxDeux. Then I saw your video last night. Heptabase looks like a much better sweet spot between Roam and Milanote and I am going to give it a try.

I am so very grateful. That was just great. It is the calm and traveled joy you express about the app that is part of YOUR magic. Having someone create enthusiasm by being enthusiastic is not so common. I just purchased Heptabase for a year. I knew I liked it for various reasons - such as the different faces it so nimbly and intuitively assumes depending on what you happen to be doing. I also see, now, and thanks again to you, the benefit of block editing and generally the block concept. My struggle with that has always been a preference for typing an essay or a poem or whatever, and being able to indent and generally have the sense (format sort of) of a sheet of paper. Wish, coming to this for the ability to draw on all objects, such as in Muse - and to draw or handwrite within Hepta. Or maybe not, I have imported Goodnotes items swiftly. Plus there is an ordered and neat, polished dignity to the app the way it now is. Anyway, point is I knew I liked a lot of it, and took the dive with a yearly subscription because I knew what I knew but hadn't yet verbalized it completely. Your video crystalized it for me - and thank you again! You were like a jewel shining light on the jewel that is Heptabase and the pleasure it so easily allows in thinking and thinking about thinking and living, and the joy of thinking for Wisdom and generosity, Far flung perhaps, but that's the vibe you inspired in me. Thank you once again. Please keep the videos coming.

I've been watching heptabase and other visual note taking apps however I won't buy a software without trying it out first inside free tier.

Ever since they came out with the Readwise Reader I've been all in. With the Obsidian plugin I have access to all my highlights in my vault. Its been great. But I do really like the idea of block editing

I am taking a closer look at this, and it is an amazing piece of software. Do you think I’m correct in stating that a Notion or a Craft would be better at knowledge management while Heptabase or Scrintal would be better at idea mapping or do you think Heptabase can handle an entire knowledge management system?

  • @Greg_Wheeler

That's a good question. In short, I think Heptabase could handle your entire PKM. It helps to look at it through Tiago Forte's CODE method (capture - organize - distill - express). Some apps help you achieve all of these in one app while there are super niched apps that help you do each of these individually. From my short time with Heptabase, you're able to capture with Journal, organize with Tags or whiteboards, distill with whiteboards, and share whiteboards. Hope that makes sense!

This was my exact question (could this be a full PKM) and I love how you answered it. I have taken Tiago’s BASB twice and loved when you referenced PARA; I know your way of thinking aligns with mine. Also 🎉 when you mentioned using Craft as that is what I’m using and want to know if I can fully transition to Heptabase as my one PKM. QUESTIONS: have you fully adopted Heptabase? Have you moved away from craft now? Did you import anything from Craft? If you haven’t stopped using Craft can I ask what you still need Craft or prefer it for? I have been working with Craft the last year and I’m really trying to make it work but it’s not doing everything I need. Looking so forward to your feedback!!! Thank you so much!!!!
