Hepburn Family Retro Arcade Gameroom
Take a look at our newly built Retro Game Room. These Coin-op arcade games are mostly from the early 80s. The collection started when I left high school in 1991, with Crystal Castles. That game was followed by more and more games, most of which were stored in a U-Store-it, as the rest(25 games, all refurbished) were flooded in our house when Hurricane Katrina hit in 2005. The U-Store-it survived untouched. This arcade is built on the slab from our neighbor's home, which was torn down after Katrina, and is now part of our yard/property. Enjoy!!!

Gosh that was like entering to heaven for me back in the 80's, i still remember all different sounds for the different games playing there at the arcade game place. The 80's were the best decade for me.

Same. Sadly I'm stuck emulating arcade games with a $40 arcade stick. But, it works. One day, maybe I'll at least save up enough to buy an emulator cabinet so at least the feel will be there.

I felt like I was dreaming.
I'm not usually impressed with people's game rooms because they all start to look the same after a while, but yours is more like a showroom. It looks exactly like the arcades I went to growing up. You could literally call this a museum and sell tickets. If you added anything it would be a skeeball or basketball game. Simply beautiful

Thanks Chris for the nice comments. My goal when we built this game room was two things:1) keep things simple and 2) Don't overcrowd the game room. I can't stand game rooms with walls covered in posters/beer neon signs/ memorabilia, as it takes away from the game room "feel". Now since this video, we have put blacklight reactive planets and stars on the ceiling, but it only goes with the space "vibe" we tried to create.
Never ending story in the background love it..born in 1982
So nice to see this as opposed to the crappy ArcadeOneUps.
The icing on the cake was the theme to Neverending Story playing in the background.
Literally nothing cooler than a dimly lit room with 30 arcade games playing attract mode to the duet of 80s music. The smell of all the hot PCBs in that room must be amazing...
I can't believe those guys in hot tub time machine went to the ski resort, I would've went straight to the nice old arcades. You can still ski today but you cant play games like this everyday without travelling to a hiddem gem.

So many memories. Great to see a heavy focus on mid-80's only, and not newer stuff. Really keeps a certain vibe. And the SOUNDS! My god it's great to hear that cacophony again. I haven't heard that for so long. Just all the 80's machines singing together ;)

I’ve seen this video so many times in the past and always loved it. I’m glad I was able to rediscover it.
Very cool.. As long as I see a stargate im happy. One day I will get one. By the sound of it were about the same age. I was playing in the arcades in the early 80's too
I can't handle the sheer awesomeness
Your wife has incredible taste. I have discovered Gorf and Bosconian both in the last year and they are both some of my favorite games to play, early 80’s space gaming at their finest. The fact that Galaga is legendary and Bosconian is barely known is a horrible injustice in my opinion.
I love your room brother, it have a space age and galaxy theme going in that room! Very 80s! Awesome
Gosh damn I love me some dig dug hopefully I'll get a dig dug of my own some day
Awesome job keeping the magic alive
You have all my very favorite games here. Wow! Nice carpet!!!
Awesome! Do what you love. Imagine if you had a time machine and could take yourself on this tour. You'd be your own hero. Thanks for sharing. Also its nice that you share the facts that owning these machines take love or lots of TLC and know how. It's not just the games its the art of the work maintaining them. Please share some videos too of fixing these up as you clearly have the skill and knowledge.
The sudden sound of 80's arcade electronic sounds when he opens the door from the garage is so nostalgic! Brings back so many wonderful memories of friends and parting with sooo many quarters!
Wow, my childhood just came back to me....so many cool games...and the 80s music in the background was a nice touch.
So crazy that it takes a TV to get your kids to come out there, quite a different time to grow up in. I like that you had a little story about most of the games, clearly you have some fond memories about these machines as I'm sure a lot of us do. I can honestly say I've never played Crystal Castles but that cabinet looks amazing! Job well done.
The games the Never ending story song playing in the back, really took me back to 5 / 6 years old, wish I could go back
Awesome setup. Thanks for the time travel adventure !
Wow, so many PCBs. Blondie and Duran Duran playing in the background. Nice!
Can't believe this is even possible to own in private hands; all the money, space, time in refurbishing-care, and electric consumption involved! WHOA! (the envy is barely letting me breathe ha, ha)

That drove me nuts. I hate that song. Love his arcade though. Mad jealousy.
I would say this is the best collection of arcade cabinets I've seen yet. There's a few missing like Elevator Action, Time Pilot '84, Zoo Keeper and Mr. Do! but damn. And there is no greater song than 48 video games playing attraction mode all at once!
Hard to believe there is still war going on when there are all these somewhat kind of ok games to play!
The noises, heaven alone. You nailed it, even down to the carpet! I loved Crystal Castles it was right next to the Ghosts n' Goblins cabinet.
Front Line was my "go-to" game especially when I only had a few quarters. It's pretty easy to get 20 minutes to a half hour of gameplay on a single credit. Surprised you got the "Bubbles" joystick to work. That machine used a VERY UNIQUE 49-way optical stick that doesn't age well. Easiest way to fix any machine that hums is to take the time and teach it all the words. Thanks for the tour my friend, game on! 👍 👍
Your arcade is better than the retro arcade near me that charges for the privliage to go in!
Put a pizza oven and Pepsi machine in it and I'll pay you to live in it! So want to feel that magic again of walking into a room filled with the music from all those arcade machines!! Good god bro you literally have every game I loved with the exception of Mr. Do! That carpet is so killer perfect for an arcade room as well. Right down the road from where I went to high school was an arcade/pizza joint called the Bear's Cave because our mascot was the bears. Spent many a lunch there...and well you know several days when I *cough cough* wasn't feeling good enough to go to school. ;) This video took me right back there and to so many other great arcade experiences!
So interesting and enjoyable video. So amazing stuffs. Thanks for the share. Keep safe and God bless 🙏 😊
If I were to close my eyes and imagine my perfect games room... this video is what it would look like. The details in the carpet is like the game changer. I wouldn't imagine the multi screens playing 80's music video... v nice touch!
JEEZ!!!! That's alot of games! My dream place in my home.
AMAZING that carpet i loveeeeee
Wow! Amazing collection my friend!
It's great you spent time actually making it feel like an 80's arcade with the arcade atmosphere. I see so many people stick a few old games in a room and call it a retro arcade. Great work!
This is the best arcade room I’ve seen yet
All you need is an unkempt surly guy sitting in a change booth to make it truly authentic!! ...but seriously this is awesome!
😮 awesome This was incredible and "The Neverending Story" song in the background was the cherry on top 😆

Thanks for the nice comment. The game room is almost years old, and it still sees regular play from the family at least 3-4 times a week.
Impressive, to say the least! I imagine it's tough to shed some light on the room without taking away from the lighting of the machines themselves. That's my only complaint but hey, what ya gonna do? The classic arcade carpet with the neon is epic! I imagine anyone who comes over to play is speechless. The scope of arcade machines and work put into them is phenomenal. Wish I could visit sometime! Totally understand. I cringe every year when hurricane season rolls around. Ida came very close to us last year, and the EF3 tornado that wiped out a lot of my neighborhood( 2 months ago) passed just 3 blocks away from our home and game room.
Needs at least an MK 1 machine. Pac Man got the video game ball rolling in 1980/1981, and Mortal Kombat reignited the craze all over again in 1992, being the first game with digitized human graphics. Otherwise, this game room is a dream !!!!!!!!!

So glad you were able to take the stuff and hopefully keep the parts in the hands of fellow collectors. There were a few parts that later on I regretted giving away (like the Aztarac monitor, but I didn't know what game that monitor went to, lol), but in the end everyone was happy. And, by the way, the Alpine Ski that you guys couldn't fit on the truck, is now in the game room working perfectly. Ouida Hepburn Thought that was you sir! Well, everything went to a good home! Only thing I wish I could have kept was the Star Trek Cockpit...had to sell it to clear space myself, but it went to a good collector. Found homes for every board, even though some went to chip salvage so that other boards can live. That Centuri Route 16 even got shipped all the way to New Hampshire!! By the time I found homes, and cleared all of my previous warehouse grab, I am now down to 7 machines. A Roadblasters cockpit, a qbert, a Jr.Pac thats going back to a Mappy, a couple of Japanese candy cabs, an old Blockbuster Blockparty 4 player cab, and a cabinet for multi gun shooters. It was a long haul, and I am definitely glad to be down to just a personal collection. :D Eventually I will add a pinball or two, and it will be complete. Best of luck with your continued projects, and well wishes to you and your whole family!! Will definitely give you a buzz if I head back down there!!!
