Teddy's voice always is so calm and relaxing I could listen to him all day and that's how he is supposed to sound

Yeah when I saw this I was like What the heck come dream with me today.....The more I watch it the more I think what could have been. If they were going for a traditional Teddy they did a horrible job but it is an "interesting" take on Teddy even tho it messed up so much to the point it's not even really Teddy.

Yeah... This trailer was a big yikes from me. It just didn’t feel like Teddy. I’ve said he feels more like Teddy’s little brother, or cousin even. It’s not Teddy. Also that mouth, YEESH!

i’m really biased but nobody can play teddy but phil in my opinion sorry lol but in all seriousness, it’s like they didn’t even watch or listen to ANY of teddy’s original stuff. you can barely even call this teddy ruxpin because it’s not. his sweet and gentle demeanor is gone and i just feel like it’s a random bear wearing teddy’s tunic shouting at me lol

that willio & phillio fan EXACTLY! I agree with everything you said! How are more people not talking about this? This is what I think they REALLY screwed up about it the most. First of all, why even change his personality into something he was never even originally like? That just messes his whole character up and ruins him, making him into an entirely different character. This so-called “Teddy” isn’t even him at all. 2nd: Phil is the ONLY Teddy, and it honestly wasn’t worth it for them to even reboot him if they were just gonna not even bother to bring him back replacing him with some stupid AWFUL cheap phony doing the voice that sounds NOTHING like him and more like a crappy Robot Chicken/Mad TV parody rip-off of him. You don’t just do that. Seriously, you don’t just replace the man who literally voiced Teddy for any Teddy thing imaginable. They really messed Teddy up big time because of all of this, and the sad thing is, they probably did it all like this for the money. :(

I'm like you in that I thought it was very generic and even when I saw King Nogburt's Castle, I wasn't actually sure what I was looking at, just because it looked really small for it to be King Nogburt's Castle. And that's the problem with alot of these reboots of beloved series. They take elements from the original piece of entertainment, but then they don't understand what made people fall in love with the original piece in the first place. Star Trek is the same way. They give us elements from the past Star Trek shows, but they don't understand why Star Trek worked the way it did when it was originally on. And it's the same thing here. The Jim Henson Company did this with the Muppets and the last two Muppets TV shows. The elements were there, but the essence of what the Muppets are was absent. I fear that no matter who tries to bring Teddy Ruxpin back to TV, the result is going to be the same.

The wrong people were in charge here. I don't know how many people are left that truly understand what made Teddy great or why fans still care about him 30+ years later. I know that is a driving point in Billy Tooma's upcoming documentary. Maybe it will open some eyes.

Well Mam I believe that I like the new Teddy. His eyes are the perfect shade of teal. Which is a light greenish blue. I always loved blue eyes. Even though my favorite color is pink I had always loved blue in eye color. Besides I don’t mind they replaced Mr. Baron. He retired from his career of voices 30 years ago.

You don’t just replace the man who literally voiced Teddy for any Teddy thing imaginable. Even though he aged, Phil can actually still do the voice. (It’s obviously different, but if they pitch shifted it a bit, he would of sounded the exact same like back in the 80’s, or at least close to it. That was really stupid of them to not even bring him back and a bit ignorant I think. If they couldn’t even bother to bring Phil back, it’s not even worth bringing Teddy back at all. All they did was ruin him. :(

@@princesspeachfan100 Mr. Baron is happy with being a cantor. He probably feels he’s too old to voice the bear. He’s very happy where he is now. He doesn’t want to come back to voices. Let the newbie stay.

Not much of Teddy in that teaser at all. Maybe come dream with me today is a reference to getting lost in a story, which is a kind of daydream. Not sure what they were really going for, but if you’re going to change something, especially a line as iconic as that from the song, written by Ken himself, have a very good reason for doing so. One hopes that, as a teaser, it was just out there to get people’s attention but not trying to do anything more than that. Great video BTW:)

I agree with every point made. They seriously just missed the mark. Which is honestly so sad. My 4 year old saw the commercial thumb nail and was EXTATIC that a new teddy show was a thing. Breaking the news to him that it was canceled broke his little teddy loving heart. However he is currently watching the old shows happy as a lark. Sooo.. But I really feel like this could be redone so much better for a new audience. They need people on the board who know and love teddy. I know it would never happen, but if am remembering correctly Ken Forsse originally wanted the show to be made with puppets/ Muppets/ animatronics. And what better company to bring that original vision to life. I know there was the 1980's live action movie. But the potential is totally there. I really hope they reevaluate and revisit this.

I believe that if the reboot really was cancelled the company would say so. We can’t be so sure. No one should jump to conclusions.

@@BillyTooma Sorry Sir. I guess I thought so. I know I don’t have the same tastes as every other fan of Teddy Ruxpin. I guess I don’t fit in with the whole community.

I love the scenery for the reboot, even how King Nogburt's castle looks. Not a fan of the rockets on the airship though. They should have made it have propeller movement. I'm fine with the helm. Aside from nostalgia, using a hand crank like they did in the 80s sounds a little silly. I like the new design of them, but having the crystals from day one doesn't make much sense unless they are picking up plotline wise from the original cartoon. The crystals are a critical McGuffin, and it loses the suspense if Teddy already has them before the pilot started unless there is a plotline for MAVO to steal them or something. Teddy on the other hand comes across as a generic Spongebob to me. I can get used to his new look, and I wouldn't mind if he would be written to loosen up a little compared to the past, but it would have been better if he was a little more relaxed and inviting in a way that reflects the spirit of the OG Ruxpin. The theme song is absolutely critical. Aside from maybe updating the accompanying instruments, the lyrics shouldn't have been changed.

I always liked teddy's adventures when I was very little growing up in new York I never cared how much the dude changed over years but teddy taught me right from wrong Though this re make may look like something I'd see on DISNEY or Nickelodeon now which I did find it cool it would be great to see the ever friendly teddy ruxpin get a second of tv fame big ted help me wise up when I was little and I'm glad that he dream with us today tonight whenever for the next generation as longtime fan if there's a show will watch regardless Thanks for bringing it up , Peace

If this Jim Henson Teddy Ruxpin Series would have come out. My 3 year old nephew would have been very happy to see this

I understand this was supposed to be for preschool children so… I always have my doubts about this and judging by this trailer, it might have followed similar beats to the original series which would have been nice, but the voice and the changing of the lyrics in the theme song, that would have been enough to turn me off. I have always had reservations and doubts about a reboot of the adventures of Teddy Ruxpin so I’m honestly really glad nothing came of this

Hi, I wasn’t able to comment on your other channel due to COPPA, so I’ll just ask here: How were you able to get the Teddy Ruxpin book scans? And are you planning on uploading any more? The artwork is beautiful and deserves to be seen in the best way possible

I don't recall where I heard about the eye colour choice. I've heard the broader colour palette one but I'd also heard that the brown colour of his eyes didn't work well with the LCD eyes. It wasn't a first-person source so its validity is probably to be taken with a pretty large lump of salt. I fear I'm going to be permanently stuck at the original 3 and 2 servo WOW version. The WCT one was the first one I didn't buy.

I feel like this is super far off from what Teddy was and what made him TEDDY RUXPIN. They completely threw out his soft and wholesome side for a generic, jumpy, and loud bear. Although, hearing that it was taking a storyline approach, I feel like it would've been great to follow along with a new Teddy storyline. New Teddy content is virtually non-existent nowadays, and if this reboot ever happened, I definitely would've watched it! Since it's canned, I guess I'll forever wonder where the story would've went..

I hated how they changed his personality like that too! I thought I was the only one to notice that, it also doesn't help they didn't even BOTHER to get Phil Baron back as him and hired this new AWFUL shameful disgrace in his place that doesn't sound ANYTHING like Phil's Teddy or fits his character at all. YUCK! If these companies change classic characters like Teddy we all know and love they don't seem right and are NOT the same character, and also, why do they even BOTHER if they can't bring them back like how they originally were? T_T If Phil Barron isn't involved as his voice, there is NO Teddy. Seriously, that new voice is a DISGRACE to him. T_T

Thanks for the review, love your videos. I'm bummed seeing the trailer because I expected so MUCH more from Henson. Their studios should've really been able to identify the life breath of the characters - they obviously were never really invested in this project. More like they had a bullet list. Talking bear, check. Airship, check. Map, check. Crystals, check. Done! In Teddy's day, I would say his universe was actually pretty weird and unusual - I mean, modern day kids are watching much weirder stuff like Adventure Time or Steven Universe for example. They would need to modernize good ol wholesome Teddy a bit to compete today, but for some reason in 2017 the relaunch tried all new toy design and reused the old stories and artwork showing the old Teddy, it made NO sense.

Well to be fair, Kidd Video was a thing around the time of Teddy Ruxpin & well... kind of like Alice In Wonderland meets 80s meets psychedelic 60s music. Teddy's world wasn't really weird, more so like your usual fantasy story. It was the execution that mattered the most.

what confused me, just a little bit is that if he was directly the 2017 model animated, why does have a random outfit? I cannot tell if they would have changed it to the actual WCT Teddy outfit for if it was actually released or not. I feel like they tried to go for a original outfit with a modern twist? But that could just be me, but its very interesting

At least Teddy wasn't reworked into the smug and/or sarcastic art style that they've given to the Care Bears now.

wow, i never even had to watch the video. i saw the thumbnail and was like, "OH NO!! i know this is gonna be terrible!!" maybe i can re-animate teddy ruxpin shows the proper way with a more fun plot while keeping the nostalgic looks! i can make episodes where they learn new things with no refrence to computers, youtube, social media, smartphones!

Terrible... They slapped Phil Baron in the face getting some cheap phony to do a voice that doesn’t even sound CLOSE to him or Teddy's character and changed his personality and design so much (him being loud and not soft spoken like he should be, that blue shirt, etc.) to the point it isn't even HIM. Might as well call this cheap, fake, insulting rip-off Teddy JR. or something, but DON’T go calling him the original character when this new character is VERY off in every single way possible towards this, it's like he's an ENTIRELY different character now because of this. 🙄 They shouldn’t have even BOTHERED. 🙄 If they can’t bring his original character back and get back Phil Baron to do his voice, it’s not even worth it to reboot him at all. Good thing this TRASH rip-off Teddy Show is cancelled. We ALL hate it. It’s NOT Teddy AT ALL. 🙄
