Its kinda sad that, eventhough King Henry VII made England very rich and stable, it was mainly due to him being very bureaucratic and not wanting to spend money on excessive entertainment. This made him not being loved by the English people. He made it possible for King Henry VIII to do all the entertainment (money) and for Queen Elizabeth to remain as queen, because King Henry VII basically got rid of most of the powerful lords or made them too broke to actually take the throne from a woman ruler.

I’ve always admired Henry VII…I admire his close live and relationship he shared with his mother and wife. He also seemed to be a loving father, in the time he could give as well . He must have been very close to Arthur and seemed to crush the hearts of both parents. This is such an excellent channel, and the narration is above and beyond excellent! Listening and learning is both a pleasure!

Yes, it was a terrible ordeal. It was common to marry or betroth children at the age of 13 during the Medieval period, as 13 was the equivalent of the 'age of consent' at the time. However, it was *very* uncommon for this marriage to be consummated so early; Medieval ppl. weren't total idiots; they knew young births could be very unsafe for mother & child. However, in Margaret Beaufort's unfortunate case, there were reasons for the rushed consummation (well, not morally or ethically *justifiable* reasons, but explanations nonetheless): The first being that Margaret Beaufort was a great heiress; the only child of a rich dead father. Whoever married her would have full control of those estates. Plus it gave any potential children of the marriage a weak claim to the throne, as Margaret potentially served as the legitimated remainder for the Lancastrian monarchy. So Edmund Tudor rushed the consummation to make quick on control of those estates. The second is speculation on my part. Edmund Tudor was raised away from court, by his father Owen, a squire, & his mother the queen dowager (at least until her death). It was only after his mother's death that they were presented to half-brother King Henry VI, who delighted in finding siblings (as he thought he had none). I wonder if, being raised away from court, Edmund was uncouth & not aware/educated of the risks such a young birth would pose to his young bride. In any case, perhaps Edmund got what was coming to him; he died of plague b/f his son had even been born (or likely b/f he even knew his wife was pregnant). If he rushed the consummation for Margaret's estates, he never got to enjoy them.
