It's funny, almost all the new age things becoming popular in our culture was pioneered by the males. Be it gaming, comic books, manga, sports, exercise/gym culture etc. Then they try and rationalize their historic lack of participation by saying girls weren't initially apart of it because they weren't "Socialized" to do so. When in reality they just were never as interested. How many dudes growing up tried to get girls to genuinely like the things they lacked during the adolescent years? For every 1 who succeeded most failed. In truth their have always been some girls who have been authentically interested, but let's be real here. Women tend to congregate at hobbies until they become socially safe to do so. The boys will spend decades being nerds and geeks until their interest become million and billion dollar industries. Paying the social price of being, baring the brunt of being perceived as weird, lonely, antisocial and for some even losers. (With their being some general truth to this). Gaming only became "woke/political" when women decided that a space made and sustained by males from various races and backgrounds wasn't representing them.

But if you get to design your own character, people tend to go for attractive ones unless they have something different in mind.

Correct, its a very misleading and disingenuous statistic. Another similar misleading statistic is that women make on average 80% of their male counterparts...which doesn't take into account their careers are on average 7 years behind as a result of having kids. No company that's interested in a profit is going to be less competitive with salaries for women.

Thank you! As an older woman, seeing the open attack on Femininity, on women's traits/behaviours, and on Women's rights by the DEI zealots, has been horrifying to me. Thank you for drawing attention to this and to the fact that most people--male AND female, like their characters to be binary. They like men and women to act like men and women and not cartoonish caricatures (He-Men Smash & Femme Fatales); from being heroes/heroines to fathers and mother, to comrades, to survivors, to warriors and soldiers, how we all approach such things is different, and a big part of that difference starts with our sex/bodies. The world has gone crazy from the far right wanting to remove all of women's rights and make them property to the far left trying to erase women from existence...how really are they different? Thank you for also pointing out that the D in DEI does not stand for diversity (they clearly show that all the time) but division. (I loved Atomic Blonde, the fight scenes showed how a woman has to fight like a woman, not a man, I am and remain impressed with the quality of the fight choreographers) I hope people vote with their money and their time, by taking it away from those erasing women.

this is just me throwing ideas at the wall. But I think during this creative phase Henry being the Executive Producers has stonewalled Amazon suggestion for female power armored space marines or Custodes and his defense was lore. Then at some point Amazon flanked Henry and went around him to GW and arm twisted them. With their agenda to change the lore to have fem custodes thereby creating a hole in Henry Lore defense in preventing in fem custodes/space marine to get through.

Let's also consider the % that participate in gaming on Twitch. The number is even more skewed when you start counting people that play games just to have their face on camera, to talk to people, or clout. This is even more noticeable when as soon as they start playing a video game, you'd think they never cared about a game's story and/or even touched a console or pc game a day in their life. Of course there are female, gay, and trans gamers. The thing is that those particular gamers respect and care as much about the hobby as the "white cis men". They're not bashing games for "misrepresentation", "sexism", or "racism". They're enjoying video games for what they are, and always have been; simply just video games, entertainment, and a means to get away from reality.

I think the "53%" is mostly women playing The Sims, VR Chat and other less action heavy games. Mobile game players would probably be a far lower amount. It's not like women don't play action games, but they don't usually gravitate towards it as much as men do I think. It would be cool to see an actual breakdown per genre and age demographic.

The reality is, humans corrupt any idea they touch. An idea of feminism was a beautiful one, because, let's face it, for the most of the human history being born a woman was bad rng. No rights, others completely decide your life, 50% dying at giving birth at young age, weaker physically, getting menstruation every month. No, the Custodes are a single faction when there are a dozen or so. The Ork codex is great and was revealed at the same time but is being over looked by all the drama from the Custodes codex. Weak Custodes rules won't kill the Tabletop. Also, DOA isnt a good description, that's more for a new product and 40k Table top wargaming is anything but new. Also, this is far from the worst Codex release by a long shot. The female Custodes issue is dumb for sure but the table top will be fine. Addressing the problem as DIE (or DEI, whichever is fine) instead of ESG is actually an important distinction. Because DIE is specifically is the S in ESG and the S is exactly the problem. I think the EG (environmental and Governance) in ESG are actually useful and beneficial for everyone if companies are forced to maintain a relatively clean, safe, and regulated business operations/practices in order to secure financing. It's the Social aspect that doesn't belong *whatsoever* because its intentions and implementations can easily be corrupted.

Sisters of battle, Sisters of silence, Callidus assassins, other temple assassins, Imperial guardsman, Rogue traders, Inquisitors, Inquisitorial agents, Imperial saints... Warhammer 40k has tons of female representation and honestly there are some extremely powerful examples of all of these. It just boggles my mind that they need to change the lore when there are already piles of powerful ladies kicking ass in the Warhammer 40k universe. Almost any of these existing examples could be worked into the TV series in ways that could be very lore friendly while highlighting some of the tougher female humans in the game setting. This whole kerfuffle simply defies logic.

They consider the franchise - that was designed to appeal to adult men - as "patriarchal", even if the franchise is essentially Seinen, it is "patriarchal" and there's nothing wrong with that. The funny thing is, most women don't have problems with settings like Warhammer or the Witcher either. Sure, Warhammer doesn't have a lot of girls playing it (but I have seen channels on KZread by female streamers dedicated to Total War Warhammer 3), but the original Witcher has quite a few girl fans. And it's not about non-straight people either. Once I went to a party in a night club and something felt off, I was looking around the que and the majority of people were muscular bearded huge dudes.
